This objectives of this research was to look into the actual state of fashion wearing purchase and makeup purchase to recognize the interrelationship between fashion and makeup styles by selecting words used for fashion image and cosmetic style. Such study can offer basic materials for choice of makeup style by each fashion style. Most information on fashion and cosmetics were obtained through the internet. However, a lot of information on cosmetics were also obtained through TV. Therefore, if fashion companies use both internet and TV for advertising, more effect on purchasing might be obtained. The design and color are important standards for selecting clothes. However, the quality and price of clothes are essential standards for purchasing cosmetics. Therefore, for fashion companies, they need to pay more attention to design and color. However, for cosmetic companies, they need to take notice of quality and price. When image words were extracted, fashion images showed the following words: natural, romantic, elegance, casual, and avant-garde, while makeup images showed romantic-casual, elegance, avant-garde, and natural. Regarding the interrelationship between fashion style and makeup style, natural and casual fashion style were harmonized with natural makeup while romantic fashion style was associated with romantic makeup. The fashion style of elegance and avant- garde was associated with elegance makeup. Therefore, similar images were found between fashion and makeup styles.
This study aims to define the concept of the futuristic image in fashion since 2000. In this study, earlier studies of the futuristic images in the fashion are analyzed and it is discovered that the most important characteristics of the futuristic images are the cosmic space and virtual reality. An analysis of actual data of the futuristic images of the fashion since 2000 produces the following conclusions. First, since 2000 the futuristic fashion to convey the image of space tends to be minimalist, taking H or A silhouette and using white, silver, or other vivid colors. Second, since 2000 the image of virtual reality is often expressed in the fashion of futuristic image as female fighters or vampires of the future who mostly wear pants suit or skirts that expose the body line. Materials of advanced technology or shiny leather are often used and dark colors including black are dominant in these images. Third, when the space image is expressed, the androgynous youth is emphasized. However when female fighters or vampires of the future are shown, sexual image of gloomy atmosphere is often stressed. Fourth, the fashion of futuristic image since 2000 takes up the space age look of the 1960s and the techno-cyber look of the 1980s and the 1990s. However their internal meanings are lost and only external forms are repeated. In sum, the current fashion of futuristic image emulates the past look of the fashion which was circulated as futuristic images and may be considered as a result of combination of futuristic image and retrospective image.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors which explain consumer's information search behavior. Data were analyzed by utilizing factor analysis and multiple-regression to investigate the relationship among information sources, benefit, and actual and ideal self- image and demographics. Based on the results, information sources for benefit, actual and ideal self-image were developed. Predictors of information sources, benefits, and self-image were identified. Marketing implication about information sources were discussed. The results were as follows. 1. Actual and ideal self-images and information sources were devised into three factors. And benefits were devised into five factors. 2. Actual self-image has more predicting power than ideal self-image to the benefits which consumer sought. Among five benefits, character pursuit was the best predicted factor according to the self-image. 3. Among three information sources, mass communication was the most effective source which can be explained by the benefit and self-image. Fashion pursuit factor was the most significant factor to the mass communication oriented source.
This study aims to apply 3D virtual fabric parameters - as obtained from previous research experiments - to 3D virtual clothing simulation in comparing its similarity with actual clothing as worn, with a view to verifying the objectivity and validity of the 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method. In addition, the result is intended to be used as the basic data for new 3D virtual clothing simulation methods. As the results, 3D virtual fabric parameters designed to simulate 3D drape to be similar to actual fabrics were found to be Bending Strength, Buckling Point, Density, Particle Distance, and Shear. They were also found to be important measurements when evaluating visual similarity between drape shadow images and number of nodes. 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method was appropriate in extracting 3D fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics, in connection with 3D virtual fabric simulation. 3D virtual fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics using the proposed 3D virtual fabric simulation method are accumulated and provided as a standard, this will facilitate the introduction 3D virtual fabric simulation technology.
As an essential factor of plasticity in fashion, color reflects socio-cultural trends and has possessed different symbolism in its historical development. This study aims to search for an academic approach towards finding out how the concepts and symbolism of the color white were expressed in actual clothing. This will be realized through the investigation of the various meanings this particular color possesses. The secondary purpose of this study is to give shape to the results of above said academic investigation by proposing their integration into actual fashion design. The methodology employed in this study and results are as follows. First, the symbolism of the color white abstracted from the research of literature on this subject was classified into six categories; purity, grace, abstinence, sublimity, decorativeness, and avant-garde. Second, for empirical research, six designs were developed and produced into white dresses. The development of these dress designs was realized by presenting the symbolism of the aforementioned six categories into images, and the formative constructions of these images by applying various design details, expressive techniques, and characteristics of the materials. Through an investigation into the color white, which has been excluded from previous chromatics research as a major color, integration of the symbolism and chromatic image of this color into the actual fashion design process is made possible. The significance of this study is in that it proposes multifarious possibilities in fashion design, and also in extending the horizon of chromatics research in fashion through the realization of the above process.

The methods of this study are academic literatures as well as practical study through case studies about actual works. The purpose of this study is to find out the orientations and characteristic in clothes buying of each age group of elderly women, based on the actual self-image and the ideal self-image of clothing. Grasping the diversity of their clothes' buying orientations will be helpful in making a better merchandise production planning for apparel, and in launching new brands into the market. The study will also provide useful data in developing sales strategies which enable to supply goods that meet consumers' needs and tastes in the quality market, and consequently will help to classify the market. Samples were 488 women of 55 and over, dwelling in Pusan Metropolitan City. The data was analysed by using MANOVA, ANOVA, and the Cronbach's $\alpha$ reliability was also applied. The conclusions based on the theoretical background and the result of questionnaire surveys were as follows: 1. The order of priority of buying orientations based on clothes's actual self-image was 'practicality', 'cautiousness' and 'economical effectiveness' without regard to age. The items that showed the significant differences in 50's were 'cautiousness', 'experimentation', 'fashion-consciousness' and ostentatiouness, and in 70's were 'economical effectiveness', 'experimentation', 'impulsiveness' and 'environmental friendliness', and none in 60's. 2. The order of priority based on clothes' ideal self-image was the same as that of actual one, and there was no significant difference between age groups.
This study was designed to investigate actual conditions(the types and the personal physical job related factors) of fashion model in Korea. Survey was done through questionnaire data, 194 fashion models were involved survey. The data were analyzed by using frequency, cluster analysis. The results of this study were as follows : 1) The largest sample were as follows (about personal physical related factors) : unmarried, college graduate and undergraduate, resident in the Seoul, 2-24 yrs female with 175-177 cm, 52-54 kg, B-W-H (33-24-35 inch). 2) The largest sample (about job related factors) were as follows: getting private educational institution, 1-2 yrs job experience, B grade, less than 600,000 won for salaries, 100,000-190,000 won at a stage, 5-6 yrs duration of model work, inexperience in the international fashion stage, take up a foreign language, fashion magazine for fashion source, image and look of individuality for a necessary condition. The motive for job was the concern in the job. Problems with a guarantee were pointed out for the betterment working conditions. 3) The types of fashion model were classified into 4 types : the type of lack of professionalism, the type of show off one's talents, the type of dissatisfaction with working condition, the type of maturity of professionalism.
This study was for applying web based street fashion design analysis system(web-SFAS), which was designed in preceding research and realized, to a practical use. Web-SFAS was developed to analyze data fast, accurately, conveniently, and to provide them to related fields by using Information Technology (IT) in fashion design industry. By inputting, sorting and analyzing actual image data into this system, it purposes to check if it needs to be corrected and to verify its operation and application. This study was collected in 2004 s/s 177 points image data and survey results input to the system This system analyzed the results as follow ; First, in all four areas of S/S, many people wear soft materials and plain T-shirts on top and tough material and plain jeans on the bottom. Second, In the case of dresses, in many areas people wear tough fabric plain A-line, one-piece dresses but in Hapsung-dong, many people wear geometrical figures. Third, fashion image, most people wear a sportive casual style with semi casual in a close second. Therefore, web-SFAS can be useful system analyzing for the trendy apparel type, design, material, color, image and variable in demography through street fashion image data.
The purposes of this study was to demonstrate the influence of fashion life-style, self-image and situational factors on consumer's apparel store choice for satisfaction of varied needs and high efficiency of marketing activity. A questionnaire was developed to measure research subjects based on theoretical study empirically. The questionnaire was administered to 270 women aged between 20 and 30 in Seoul. The results analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, x2-test and oneway-anova. The results of empirical studies were summarized as follows: 1. Segmented groups of fashion life-style were classified practical/planning group, fashion- leader group, and shopping-oriented group. And store types which were prefered by those groups were department store/shopping center. 2. Segmented groups of self-image were classified actual-seeking group, modernity group and confidence group. And store types which were prefered by those groups were department store/shopping center. The Forecast of store choice on the base of self.image was showed that customers choose the store incongruous with self-image. But when it was analyzed each actual store choice. The Choice of high frequancy was congruous with self-image except for a specialty store/brand named outlet. 3. The significant differences could be found in choice of the store under particular purchase situations and especially at department stores and specialty store, their preference tended to be stronger as the degree of the store's involvement was hightened, but in the case of the generalization stores and the permanent discount stores, even though the degree of that involvement was low, their preference showed the same tendency.
