A Discussion on Home-Institutions' Relations with Reference to Children with Intellectual Disabilities in Saudi Arabia

  • Private specialized institutions differ from public ones in that they mostly act independently. This paper reports a study designed to assess the provision of specialized institutions for children with intellectual disabilities in Saudi Arabia. The approach taken in this study was qualitative, involving a case study strategy that enabled the researcher to gain rich and in-depth information based on the shared experiences of participants comprising institution leaders, educators and families from two specific specialized settings, one public and one private. The study aimed to examine the existing disparities in service delivery so as to develop a clear picture of the service quality provided by public specialized institutions for children with intellectual disabilities in Saudi Arabia. The results suggest that the weak relationship with inpatient and specialized institutions is a consequence of the parents' poor responsiveness, which may result in these institutes developing a negative impression of the parents. Conversely, the lack of active initiative on the part of the public specialized institutions led to a negative parental attitude towards these institutions. A sensible approach to resolving this problem might be to recognize that these institutions have a significant responsibility to encourage parents of children with intellectual disabilities to become involved in their children's learning, to promote positive attitudes.

Brand Revitalization by Strategic Repositioning: A Case Study of Korando Sports

  • A growing gap between market needs and the capabilities of the enterprise prompts repositioning (Corstjens and Dolye 1989). This article examines the strategic repositioning of 'Korando Sports' undertaken by SYMC throughout the period from Jan. 2012 to Jun. 2012, to boost sales volume and market share by entering market of active-lifestyle consumers currently occupied by SUVs. SYMC's experience indicates that it is essential to close the gap between the market needs and the ability of the enterprise to make a shift to new consumer segment with a new positioning. The successful repositioning framework(Ryan et al. 2007) were employed in this paper. This framework is comprised of six elements: core strategic values, strategic flexibility/learning capabilities, customer awareness and sensitivity, external orientation, management commitment, and belief in the product and brand. The evaluation based on the successful framework also confirms that 'Korando Sports' case meets all the requirements of the successful strategic repositioning. This paper provides some of the managerial implications with aim of assisting executives in identifying strategic repositioning opportunities. Primarily, the 'Korando Sports' case affirms the repositioning as a viable strategy and indicates that repositioning is a feasible means for strategic change. Second, this case shows the influence of a target consumer and SYMC's repositioning to follow consumer preference for a particular attribute. Moreover, we can understand how a product formerly considered weak in attributes can enjoy benefits in other segments with the same attributes.

  • The main purpose of the study is to identify the key aspects of the formation of legal and professional competence of students of higher educational institutions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The modern system of public relations tightens the requirements for the professional and legal competence of specialists in all spheres of life. The development of a unified nationwide strategy in the field of education focused on the formation and development of young people's skills for life in the information society, is aimed at finding ways to form an active position of a future specialist, developing an experience of a holistic understanding of the professional activity, systemic action in solving new problems and tasks. The methodology includes a number of theoretical methods. Based on the results of the study, the main elements of the formation of legal and professional competence of students of higher educational institutions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

함평나비축제 관광객의 행태적 특성: 제4회 축제를 사례로 (Tourist Behaviour of Hampyeong Butterfly Festival: A Case of the Butterfly Festival 2002)

  • 본 연구는 지역축제의 개최를 통해 지역의 이미지 개선에 기여하고 있는 전남의 함평나비축제를 사례로 축제에 참가한 관광객의 관광행태를 고찰하였다. 1995년 지방자치제가 실시되면서 전국의 대부분 시$.$군에서는 지역경제의 활성화를 목적으로 지역축제의 이벤트화가 추진되었다. 전국의 지자체에서 개최되는 축제중에서 전국적인 경쟁력을 가진 생태관광축제로 등장하고 있는 축제가 1999년부터 함평군에서 개최되고 있는 나비축제이다. 나비축제가 전국적인 주목을 받으면서 함평군은 낙후된 농촌지역에서 친환경적인 생태농업지역으로 지역의 이미지가 바뀌고 있다. 1999년 제1회 이후, 축제의 관광객이 증가하고 있으며, 제4회에 참가한 외래 방문객은 약 87%로 조사되었다. 제4회 나비축제에 관광객들의 만족도는 비교적 높게 평가되었고, 경쟁력있는 생태관광축제로 인식하였다. 그러나 나비축제가 전국적으로 우수한 관광문화축제로 뿌리내리기 위해서는 관광편의시설 확충을 포함한 다양한 정책적 검토가 요구된다.

  • 최근 디지털 사회의 도래로 다양한 데이터가 폭발적으로 증가하고, 그중 문헌 내 주제어를 도출하는 토픽 모델링에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문의 연구목표는 토픽 모델링 방법 중 하나인 DTM(Dynamic Topic Model) 모델을 적용해 D.N.A.(Data, Network, A.I) 분야에 대한 연구동향을 탐색하는데 있다. 실험 데이터는 최근 6년간(2015~2020) ICT(Information and Communication Technology) 분야 중 기술대분류가 SW·AI에 해당하는 연구과제 1,519개 사업에 대해 DTM 모델을 적용하였다. 실험결과로, D.N.A. 분야의 기술 키워드 Big data, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence와 확장된 의미의 기술 키워드 Unstructured, Edge Computing, Learning, Recognition 등이 매년 연구에 표출되었으며, 해당 키워드 들이 특정 연구과제에 종속되지 않고 다른 연구과제에서도 포괄적으로 연구되고 있음을 확인하였다. 끝으로 본 논문의 연구결과는 향후 D.N.A. 분야에 대한 정책기획·과제기획 등 연구개발 기획 과정과 기업의 기술 확보전략·마케팅 전략 등 다양한 곳에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

AR·QR 그림책 애니메이션의 시지각 확장성 연구: 그림책 <여기가 어디지?>의 설계적 특징을 중심으로 (A Study on Visual Perception Scalability of AR/QR Picture Book Animation: Focusing on the Design Characteristics of the Picture Book 〈Where is this?〉)

  • This study presents a way to design picture books that allow children to experience indirectly through realistic media at home and educational institutions for children whose direct experiences and activities are reduced offline in the post-COVID-19 era. The development and popularization of realistic media such as AR continues to be grafted and developed in the picture book field, and the advantage of this picture book is that children at the stage before learning letters can feel the story and character situation of the book through the experience of AR and QR animation in the picture book. In this process, you can get access to imaginary areas that can not be experienced in flat-panel illustrations with spatial animation to help improve the scalability and literacy of the story contained on the page. Children's education through realistic animation can increase the learning effect and needs to continue after COVID-19. Therefore, by presenting the process of viewing and experiencing picture books using AR and QR, the result of the study suggests that the design process of realistic picture books is not just a combination of technology, but a process of expanding children's perception and imagination. This study aims to find out how visual perception is designed differently by analyzing the differences and characteristics of each animation design, focusing on the AR and QR picture book "Where am I?" published by the researcher, and to contribute to the active introduction and development of realistic animation in the field of children's picture books and education.

학교도서관의 협동교수프로그램에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cooperative Program Planning and Teaching)

  • Cooperative program planning and teaching is a strategy for developing and implementing resource based learning. This approach combines the classroom teacher's subject expertise and knowledge of the students with the teacher­librarian's specialized knowledge of the availability and use of learning materials. And the purpose of cooperative program planning is to develop learning experiences or units of study that effectively integrate the student's resource center activities with other learning experiences. There are also some conditions that are conducive to effective planning sessions. First, the teacher-librarian must be prepared to initiate planning with teachers, rather than waiting for teachers to come to them. Second, the teacher-librarian must be prepared to present suggestions in such a way that the teacher can respond. The purpose of this study is (1) to investigate the planning process of cooperative program planning and teaching in the previous studies and (2) to find general problems when the cooperative program planning and teaching apply in actual situation. For these purposes, I chose a school library and a teacher-librarian in Seoul to observe how this cooperative program planning and teaching carry out in the school library. Main findings are summarized as follows: (1) A teacher who teaches alone for one grade is more proper to carry out the cooperative program planning and teaching. Young teachers are usually more active to change their teaching methods. (2) The cooperative program planning and teaching is a program what needs a lot of materials. When there is no right reference book in a school library, it would be good to access DB through PC telecommunication. It is also possile to contact lirarians who work in large public libraries or university libraries. (3) The cooerative program planning and teaching needs cooperative working between a teacher-librarian and a teacher. Thus a teacher-librarian should be in his school in the day time like the other teachers for the program's planning process. ( 4) There has to be a guide to change into resource based learning in teaching method. Thus the Korean Library Association or Korean Library and Information Science Society should offer a seminar or a workshop about cooperative program planning and teaching for the teacher-librarians. (5) It needs a system that a teacher-librarian can know about student's assignments so that he can prepare reference books for them. (6) The school library can be able to offer excellent service like cooperative program planning and teaching to the teachers and students according to a teacher-librarian's enthusiasm.

상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 훈련이 독해력, 초인지, 자기효능감에 미치는 효과 (The effect of reading strategies developing through reciprocal teaching on reading comprehension, metacognition, self efficacy)

  • 본 연구는 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램이 초등학생의 독해력, 초인지 및 자기효능감에 미치는 효과를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 중소도시 초등학교 5학년 2개 학급을 각각 실험집단과 통제집단으로 선정하고, 실험집단에 5주 동안 총 10회기의 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램은 초등학생들의 독해력과 그 하위 요인인 사실적 이해와 감상적 이해 영역에서 유의한 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램은 초인지의 하위요인인 조정 영역에서 유의한 효과가 있었다. 셋째, 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램은 자기효능감에서 유의한 효과가 있었다. 새로운 읽기전략에 대한 경험과 또래집단 구성원간에 주고받는 도움과 성공 경험이 자기효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 볼 수 있다. 넷째, 학생의 활동보고서 및 연구자의 관찰결과와 함께 프로그램에 대한 만족도 평가를 실시한 결과에서 초등학생들이 협동학습을 통해 학습 집단에서 공동 목표를 설정하고 그 목표를 달성하기 위해서 함께 노력하여 다른 구성원에게 도움을 주고받으며 즐겁게 참여하는 것이 긍정적인 프로그램 효과에 기여하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과를 통해 상보적 수업을 활용한 읽기전략 학습상담프로그램이 초등학생들의 독해력, 초인지, 자기효능감을 향상시키는데 긍정적인 효과가 있었다.

장애인 창업의 마케팅전략을 통한 활성화 방안 연구 (Revitalization through a Marketing Research Foundation of the Disabled)

  • Purpose - There is a recent social trend that is focused on the revitalization of business-founding. Business-founding now has an important impact on the progress of the national economy because of youth unemployment and an increase in baby-boom generation retirees. However, the support and infrastructure required for business-founding of the disabled are very insufficient. Since most supporting policies are on youth or middle-aged business-founding, business-founding by the disabled and the socially weak is losing competitiveness. Accordingly, this study diagnosed the issues by analyzing the current status of business-founding by the disabled and suggested a fostering direction for the advance of business-founding by the disabled. An idea for the founding of various business items is required for the competitiveness of business-founding by the disabled and the establishment of a growth-model based on marketing is required so that business-founding by the disabled would advance toward commercialization with growth potential. Research design, data, and methodology - Regarding the study method, the existing study literature on the status and issues in business-founding was mainly explored. In addition, the existing literature on the status and issues in business-founding by the disabled was also studied. The support on business-founding by the disabled by policy enforced by the 'Welfare Service Agency for the Disabled'and the support of related agencies including financial support on the commercialization of business-founding by the disabled were also examined. Results - Existing studies on business-founding by the disabled are very insufficient. It is very difficult to study a viable business-founding by the disabled fostering policy without thorough learning on the difficulties of business-founding by the disabled. Therefore, this study suggested a direction for the resolution of various issues such as market, funds, item, operational matters, and service by analyzing the difficulties in business-founding by the disabled until now. Particularly, this study suggested that building a commercialization model from the aspect of marketing strategy and the effort to change the growth aspect of the disabled into competitiveness are essential. Conclusions - This study examined the aspect of developing an item-development process for the growth and founding of disabled-owned businesses and the requirement of a government support system by multiple policies. Since the number of studies on business-founding by the disabled is very small, it is expected that this study would become an important study in the field of business-founding by the disabled. The revitalization of business-founding by the disabled substantially contributes to the progress of the state of the economy and continuous interest is required from the viewpoint of equal advance in the society. Success models in business-founding by the disabled should be created continuously and active publicizing of them to the disabled business-founders by analyzing the success cases would also be required. In addition, it is believed that a market entry strategy by way of a win-win strategy and cooperative relation with big companies should be also developed in the future.

체제적인 영재교육을 위한 Renzulli의 전교 심화학습 모형(SEM)의 개성방안 (A Systemic Model for the Gifted Education)

  • 영재 교육 체제는 영재 각자의 능력과 다양한 흥미와 변화하는 요구를 수용할 수 있을 만큼의 충분한 융통성과 개방성을 지녀야 하며, 우리의 교육 실정에 적합한 교육 발달의 틀이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 아직 이론적이고 내용적 수준에 머물러 있는 영재 교육의 개념적 모형을 실제 교수${\cdot}$학습 장면에서 쉽게 적용할 수 있는 절차적이며 처방적인 체제적 모형으로 전호나함으로써 보다 효과적인 영재 교육 체제를 개발하고자 함니다. 이를 위해 영재 교육의 가장 대표적인 모형인 Renzulli의 전교 심화학습 모형(Schoolwide Enrichment Model: SEM)을 바탕으로 교수체제설계(ISD)를 적용한 결과, 기획${\cdot}$진단${\cdot}$처방${\cdot}$실행${\cdot}$평가의 5단계로 SEM의 체제적 모형을 재구성하였다. 또한 체제적으로 수정된 SEM 모형이 갖는 영제 교수${\cdot}$학습 상황에서의 특징을 6가지로 요약하여 정리하였다. 그러나, 각 학교에 최적한 모형을 개발하기 위해서는 본 연구에서 제시된 체제적 모형에 바탕해 계속적인 수정과 검토가 있어야 할 것이다.
