  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the potential injury via analyzing ground reaction force components that were resulted from a prolonged-run-induced fatigue. For the present study, passive and active components of the vertical ground reaction force were determined from time and frequency domain. Shear components of GRF also were calculated from time and frequency domain. Twenty subjects with rear foot contact aged 20 to 30, no experience in injuries of the extremities, were requested to run on the instrumented tread-mill for 160 minutes at their preference running speed. GRF signals for 10 strides were collected at 5, 35, 65, 95, 125, and 155 minute during running. In conclusions, there were no significant difference in the magnitude of passive force, impact load rate, frequency of the passive and active components in vertical GRF between running times except the magnitude of active force (p<.05). The magnitude of active force was significantly decreased after 125 minute run. The magnitude of maximum peak and maximum frequency of the mediolateral GRF at heel strike and toe-off have not been changed with increasing running time. The time up to the maximum peak of the anteroposterior at heel-strike moment tend to decrease (p<.05), but the maximum peak and frequency of that at heel and toe-off moment didn't depend significantly on running time.

  • In active sonar, time delay estimation is used to find the distance between the target and the sonar. Among the time delay estimation methods for active sonar, estimation in the frequency domain is widely used. When estimating in the frequency domain, the time delay can be thought of as a frequency estimator, so it can be used relatively easily. However, this method is prone to rapid increase in error due to noise. In this paper, we propose a new method which applies weighted dictionary and sparsity in order to reduce this error increase and we extend it to two receivers to propose an algorithm for estimating the time delay between two receivers. And the case of applying the proposed method and the case of not applying the proposed method including the conventional frequency domain algorithm and Generalized Cross Correlation-Phase transform (GCC-PHAT) in a white noise environment were compared with one another. And we show that the newly proposed method has a performance gain of about 15 dB to about 60 dB compared to other algorithms.

  • Active networks aim to provide a software framework that enables active network applications to customize the processing their communications. Active security component architecture focuses on the support of reuse system by active security component. The architecture is standard layer to acquire, understand, and assemble component, and it has to support a guideline for component identification, search and customization. In this paper we present the active security architecture as a standard model of discrete active network solution, and we propose the method for component classification and specification.

  • The cytoplasmic domains A and B of the mannitol transporter enzyme $II^{Mtl}$ are covalently linked in Escherichia coli, but separately expressed in Thermoanaerobacter Tengcongensis. The phosphorylation of domain B ($TtIIB^{Mtl}$) substantially increases the binding affinity to the domain A ($TtIIA^{Mtl}$) in T. Tengcongensis. To understand the structural basis of the enhanced domain-domain interaction by protein phosphorylation, we obtained NMR backbone assignments of the phospho-$TtIIB^{Mtl}$ using a standard suite of triple resonance experiments. Our results will be useful to monitor chemical shift changes at the active site of phosphorylation and the binding interfaces.

  • Image noise reduction in the frequency domain by thresholding is simple, but quite effective. Wavelet domain thresholding has been an active area of research but relatively little work has been published on DCT domain denoising. A novel method for determining the hard threshold for the DCT domain denoising is proposed. The low amplitude DCT coefficients are discarded until the cumulative sum of the discarded signal energy is comparable to that of noise in each DCT block. Cycle spinning is also applied to reduce block artifacts. The proposed method is quite effective and simple enough to be used in portable devices.

  • Human tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is a valuable thrombolytic agent used to successfully treat acute myocardial infarction, thromboembolic stroke, peripheral arterial occlusion, and venous thromboembolism. Recombinant tPA is accumulated as an inactive form in inclusion bodies of E. coli and is refolded in vitro, which is accompanied by extensive aggregation. In the present study, a tPA protease domain was expressed in an active soluble form in the cytosol of E. coli Rosetta-gami cells, which allowed disulfide bond formation and supplied the tRNA molecules required for six rarely used codons in E. coli. This strategy increased the amount of soluble protease domain protein and avoided the cumbersome refolding process. The purified protease domain not only degraded tPA substrate peptides but also formed a covalently bound complex with plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, as does full-length tPA. Soluble expression and purification of tPA domains may aid in functional analyses of this multi-domain protein, which has been implicated in many physiological and pathological processes.

  • Digital watermarking of multimedia data is a very active research area that has enjoyed a considerable amount of attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for embedding/detecting a fragile watermark in MPEG-4 compressed video domain (Simple and Advance Simple Profiles). The watermark bits are put directly into Huffman VLC-codespace of quantized DCT domain. The advantage of watermark embedding into the compressed domain is the significant savings for a real-time implementation as it does not require a full decoding operation. The watermark embedding does not change the video file size. The algorithm demonstrates high watermarking capacity, thereby providing reliable foolproof authentication. The results of experimental testing demonstrate that watermark embedding preserves the video quality. Watermark detection is performed without using the original video.

  • The fictitious power theory in time domain is very easy to understand, but power analyzing speed of active power is increased, because power is analyzed using signal tedmiques based on the corre1ation between voltage and current wavefonns. Also, conventional methods in time/frequency domain to evaluate the correlation performance of active power filters are not provided easy solutions. So, the authors have previously proposed 3-D current coordinates which is composed into active component, fundarrental reactive component and distorted component of nonlinear loads current. This trethod has excellent perfonnance, but can not evaluate the characteristics of nonlinear load current whether It is inductive or capacitive. Therefore, To overcorre problems trentioned previously, this paper deals with the simple average power theory and the modified 3-D current coordinates for evaluating the compensation perfonnance of active power filters. To confirm the validity, active power filter simulator is developed using C-language. From the simulation, results are discussed their utility.tility.

  • In this research, we investigated active vibration control based on wave-viewpoint using the longitudinal wave separation method. The control strategy is the one of active vibration control technique for generating vibration reduced zone and uses wave information including the directivity as the cost function. In order to get the wave information from the measured values, we proposed and examined the time-domain longitudinal wave separation method proper to real time application like active vibration control. Using the proposed method, we examine the performance and feasibility of active vibration control based wave view-point through the simulation. The related experimental verification and application is going to be expected in a near future.

  • The hydraulic acoustic attenuator fur an automotive active suspension system is so highly nonlinear and of high order that the analysis in time-domain has been performed quite little. In this paper, a state-space representation of the dynamics for a hydraulic attenuator was presented utilizing the electrical analogy. And the results of experiment were compared with those of simulation to validate the state-space model proposed. The comparison revealed that the state-space model proposed is practically applicable to estimate the dynamic responses of the hydraulic attenuator in time-domain.
