A new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize predictor and comparator is proposed in this paper. Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponential Step)algorithm has fast convergence speed, but very weak in interference of environment. The proposed stepsize predictor and comparator improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's defects. The Stepsize predictor generates a stepsize value using residual power of error signal. The stepsize comparator selects the stepsize value that is better performance in a acoustic echo canceler using a stepsize decision factor. The Simulation results show superiority of the proposed acoustic echo canceler in environment interference.
This paper proposes a new stereophonic acoustic echo canceler with deploying delayless subband adpative filters. Due to the storong correlation between stereo signals, a stereophonic acoustic echo canceler is suffering from the slow convergence and the misalignment for estimating impulse responses corresponding to true echo paths at receiving room. Specially, dual adaptive filters for echo cancellation are significantly affected by the abrupt change of the transmission room environment so that the impariments on voice communication could be experienced. To prevent these performance degradations, this paper proposes a robust subband echo canceler employing pre-processing block so as to enhance the convergence speed and provide the insusceptibility to the environment change at transmission room.

Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponentially weighted Stepsize) algorithm have simple operational configuration and fast convergence speed batter then NLMS algorithm, but they are very weak in external noise because ES algorithm updates filter taps using an average energy reduction rate of room impulse response in specific acoustical condition. So, a new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize generator and selector is proposed in this thesis. The proposed stepsize generator and selector improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's weakness in external noise and improve the system robustness. The stepsize generator generates additional stepsize value using moving averager, which is the residual noise energy of error signal multiplied by constant ${\gamma}$. The stepsize selector selects the stepsize value that has better performance in an acoustic echo canceler using a coefficient decision factor ${\Delta}_{differ}$ The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces residual error by 5[dB] to 10[dB], improves misadjustment regardless of external noise's SNR.

This paper proposes a method of implementing synthetic stereo and an acoustic echo cancellation algorithm for multiple participant conference system. Synthetic stereo is generated by HRTF and two loudspeakers. A robust adaptive algorithm for synthetic stereo echo cancellation is proposed to reduce the weight misalignment due to near-end speech signals and ambient noises. The proposed adaptive algorithm is modified version of SMAP algorithm and the coefficients of adaptive filter is updated with cross correlation of input and estimation error signal normalized with sum of the autocorrelation of input signal and the power of the estimation error signal multiplied with projection order. This is more robust to projection order and ambient noise than conventional SMAP. Computer simulation show that the proposed algorithm effectively attenuates synthetic stereo acoustic echo.

In this paper, we propose a double talk and noise robust acoustic echo canceler for hands-free telephony applications. The proposed system includes a double-talk detection method that detects the double-talk durations, which uses covariance between microphone input signa and estimated microphone input signal. And proposed adaptive algorithm for estimating acoustic echo path, uses normalized auto-covariance matrix of input signal with multiplication of residual error power and projection order of AP(affine projeciton) algorithm. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from acoustic interference cancellation (AIC) viewpoint in double talk and noisy environments.
NLMS algorithm is degraded by the ambient noises and the near-end speech signals. In this paper, a robust acoustic echo cancellation algorithm is proposed. To enhance the echo cancellation performance, the step size of the proposed algorithm is normalized by the sum o fthe power of the reference signals and the primary signals. as results of comparing the excess mean square errors, it is shown that the proosed algorithm can enhance the performance of cancelling the echo signals. Some experiments, which is used multimedia personal computer, are carried out. As results of experiments, the proposed algorithm shows better performance than conventional ones.

NLMS algorithm is widely used as acoustic echo canceller. NLMS algorithm is degraded by the ambient noises and the near-end speech signals. In this paper, a robust acoustic echo cancellation algorithm is proposed. To enhance the echo cancellation performance, the step size of the proposed algorithm is normalized by the sum of the power of the reference signals and the primary signals. As results of comparing the excess mean square errors, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can enhance the performance of cancelling the echo signals. Some experiments, which is used multimedia personal computer, are carried out. As results of experiments, the proposed algorithm shows better performance than conventional ones.
In this paper, we propose a new double talk detection algorithm which detects near end signals with less degradation, tracking echo path variation of echo canceler simultaneously. Our method makes use of a cross-correlation between channel input signals and estimated error signals and a normalized cross-correlation between microphone input signals and estimated error signals. By combing thresholds for these cross-correlations pertinently, this algorithm discriminates between variation of echo path and occurrence of double talk. These two cross-correlation are used to detect double talk periods, tracking echo path variation. During the detection period, adjustive adaptive filter is ceased to prevent the echo canceler from being disturbed by near end signals. Also, the echo canceler will still be kept on for tracking any variation in echo path. Through computer simulation results, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance, tracking echo path variation and detecting the double talk periods, than the Ye et. al's and the NLMS algorithms from ERLE viewpoint.
In stereo acoustic echo canceller scheme, coefficients of adaptive filter converge very slowly or misconverge to real acoustic echo path in receiving room. This is due to cross-correlation in stereo signals. In this paper, a new preprocess algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of stereo AEC(acoustic echo canceller) without computational burden. The proposed algorithm reduces cross-correlation using Gram-Schmidt orthogonality principles and nonlinear filtering. Computer simulations demonstrate that this algorithm performs well compared to conventional ones. When the acoustic path of transmitting room is changed, stereo AEC using proposed algorithm is well performed.
Adaptive filters cannot exactly estimate the echo path of the receiving room because of the cross-correlation of stereo signals. In this paper, a new pre-processing method reducing the cross-correlation without degradation of stereophony is proposed to enhance the performance of stereophonic acoustic echo canceller. To reduce the cross-correlation, absolutes of two orthogonal signals derived from each channel signals are added to original channel signals. Assuming that the power of each channel signal is larger than that of the cross-correlation, the computation of pre-processing can be reduced. As results of simulations, it is shown that the performance of stereo acoustic echo canceller with the proposed pre-processing method is better than that of conventional ones.
