2,6-Disubstituted Pyrylium Fluoroborates 화합물의 합성과 특성 (Synthesis and Characteristics of 2,6-disubstituted Pyrylium Fluoroborates)

  • Pyrylium염 화합물은 양전하를 띄고 있어 유용한 합성반응에 널리 이용되고 있다. 또한 전자를 받아들이는 특성을 갖고 있어 광유도전자전이(PET) 반응의 감광제 등에 응용되고 있다. 우리는 본 연구에서 몇몇 2,6-disubstituted pyrylium fluoroborate 염 화합물을 산성 매체(acetic anhydride/acid) 하에서 합성하였다. 합성한 화합물을 $^{1}H-NMR$, FT-IR과 TOF Mass로 그 구조를 확인하였다. 또한, 그 광특성을 UV-Vis를 통해 분석하였다.

Direct Organogenesis in Geophila reniformis D. Don., an Important Medicinal Herb

  • Adventitious multiple shoots were developed from leaf, petiole and internode explants of Geophila reniformis D. Don. on MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of $N^6$-benzylaminopurine (BAP) or Kinetin (KIN) alone or in combination with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Leaf showed maximum organogenetic potential, followed by petiole and internode. Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 22.22 $\mu{M}$ BAP and 4.57 $\mu{M}$ IAA induced maximum shoot buds from leaf explants. Internodal segments showed low potential of direct organogenesis. The regenerated shoots rooted the best in presence of 10.75 - 13.44 $\mu{M}$ $\alpha$-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) along with 2.22 $\mu{M}$ BAP, and were successfully established in the field with a survival rate of 89.11%.

Chlorella의 생리에 미치는 Indole acetic acid의 영향 (Physiological effects of indole acetic acid (IAA) on chlorella ellipsoidea)

  • To study the effect of IAA on the growth of Chlorella, the alage wre cultured on the media for six days by bubbling $_{2}$ enriched air under 10K lux at 20-$25^{\circ}C$. The culture media were made by adding a concentration of $10^{-3}$M, $10^{-4}$M, and 0M(as a control) IAA to the standard media. During the period of culture, Chlorella was smapled for the given time of interval and photosynthetic and respiratory activities were measured by Warburg manometer and change of chemical components of Chlorella was determined by spectrophotometry after the Chlorella cell was fractionated by Schmidt-Thannhauser method. 1) Photosynthetic and respiratory activities were enhanced by IAA ; especially the enhancement of respiratory activity was so remarkable. 2) As to the chemical components of Chlorella, carbohydrates and amino acids were reduced a little but phosphate, RNA, DNA, and protein were increased by $10^{-3}$M IAA ; the increase of RNA, in particular, was noticable. 3) The above results suggest that the enhancement of growth of Chlorella, by IAA and ATP induced by respiratory activity accelerated with IAA enhanced RNA synthesis, resulting in an increase of protein synthesis.

Anti-angiogenic, Anti-inflammatory and Anti-nociceptive Activities of Vanillin in ICR Mice

  • The current study aimed to assess some novel pharmacological activities of vanillin. Vanillin inhibited the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) angiogenesis. Vanillin had anti-inflammatory activity using the acetic acid-induced permeability model in mice. Anti-nociceptive activity of vanillin was shown using the acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. Vanillin inhibited production of nitric oxide (NO) and induction of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) but not cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW264.7 macrophages. Vanillin decreased the level of iNOS mRNA in the LPS-activated macrophages. Taken together, these results suggest that vanillin can have anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive activities in ICR Mice.

Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Angiogenic and Anti-Nociceptive Activities of 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde

  • The current work was designed to assess novel pharmacological activities of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (HD), a major phenolic constituent of various natural products of plant origin, such as Gastrodia elata Blume. HD exhibited a significant inhibition in the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) angiogenesis. HD also displayed an inhibitory effect in acetic acid-induced permeability in mice. Anti-nociceptive activity of HD was convinced using the acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. HD was able to suppress production of nitric oxide (NO) and induction of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW264.7 macrophages. HD also diminished the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level elevated in the LPS-activated macrophages. In brief, HD exhibits anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive activities possibly via down-regulating iNOS and/or COX-2, which may be partly responsible for pharmacological efficacies of various natural products.

Antinociceptive profile of the ethanolic extract of andrographis paniculata in mice

  • The present study was conducted to evaluate the analgesic activity of ethanolic extract of Andrographis paniculata (AP) in mice. The analgesic investigations were carried out using the acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing and the hot-plate tests. It was demonstrated that intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of the extract at a dose of 30, 100, 300, 500 mg/kg, produced significant inhibition of abdominal constriction induced with 0.6% (v/v) acetic acid in dosedependent manner. It also demonstrated that the extract produced significant dose-dependent increase in the time of latency to a discomfort reaction in the hot-plate model. In addition, the analgesic effect of the ethanolic extract of AP was significantly reversed by a non-specific opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone. These results indicate that AP has an analgesic effect that was mediated through opioid receptors.

령선제통음전탕액(靈仙除痛飮煎湯液)의 경시적(經時的) 효능변화(效能變化)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Degraded Effect of Decocted Youngsunjetongeum over a Period)

  • From the ancient times, herbs, animals and minerals were used as natural medicine to cure human disease in diverse ways. One of the representative forms in oral intake is decoction. But medicinal decoction degenerates as time passes just as all foods do by the environmental factors, such as micro-organism, enzyme, light and the air. Nowadays, as medicinal decoctions are kept in bottles and retort pouch for longtime, some standard data for preservation is necessary. In order to measure the standard statistics for safe preservation, Youngsunjetongeum used to treat rheumatism, and gout 'were used. According to this experiment which measured pH, specific gravity, analgesic effect and anti-inflammatory effect, the results were as follows: 1. No remarkable change was found in pH and in the specific gravity of decoction. 2. As for the analgesic effect induced by acetic acid in mice, no remarkable decrease in its medicinal efficacy was found, until the 9th day, but it showed in its medicinal efficacy from the 11th day. 3. As for the resultant anti-inflammatory effect caused by vascular permeability, induced by carrageenin and acetic acid, no remarkable decrease in its medicinal efficacy was found until the 9th day, but showed decrease in its medicinal efficacy from 11th day. In conclusion, keeping the natural medicinal decoction more than 9 days should be avoided.

육계 유래 Cinnamaldehyde의 투여와 항염증 및 진통효과의 평가 (Antinociceptive and Anti-inflammatory Properties of Cinnamomum cassia Derived-cinnamaldehyde in Rodents)

  • The aim of present study was to investigate the possible influence and the related mechanism of Cinnamomum cassia derived-cinnamaldehyde on the inflammation or nociception. Cinnamomum cassia was referred to be treated for common cold or dyspepsia in the traditional medicine. However, there are no reports on the antinociceptive or anti-inflammatory properties of cinnamaldehyde, the primary ingredient of Cinnamomum cassia. We hypothesized that cinnamaldehyde would play a role in the modulation of inflammation or nociception evoked by carrageenan, acetic acid or heat. Male Institute of Cancer Research mice were used and the size of edema, frequency of writhing and latency of abnormal behaviors such as licking, flicking, shaking or jumping were measured and recorded. The present study was carried out to evaluate the antiinflammatory and antinociceptive effects of cinnamaldehyde. The administration of cinnamaldehyde (30 and 100 mg/kg) inhibited carrageenan-induced paw edema only at the final phase, suggesting the blockade of synthesis or release of prostaglandins. It also reduced the frequency of the acetic acid-induced writhing reflex in mice. In addition, the administration of cinnamaldehyde prolonged the latency for extraordinary reaction at the hot plate in mice. In conclusion, cinnamaldehyde has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and is a potential therapeutic for inflammation and nociception.

Analgesic and Antipyretic Activity of Stachys schimperi Vatke

  • The analgesic and the antipyretic activity of the methanol, chloroform, hexane and acetonitrile extracts of the aerial parts of Stachys schimperi Vatke were investigated in mice. The nociceptive response was tested using acetic acid-induced writhing and tail flick method; while hypothermia affect was examined via yeast-induced fever test. The chloroform extract at 500 mg and hexane and acetonitrile extracts at 250 mg produced significant analgesic and antipyretic activity.

  • The influence of essential oils from aboriginal softwoods as Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, Chamaecyparis obtusa and Chamaecyparis pisifera on the motor coordination, pulse, mean blood artery pressure and pain reducing test was investigated in mice and rats. The motor coordination of mouse was not induced by the inhalation of each oil. Furthermore, these oils did not alter the changes of the mean blood pressure and pulse rate. Chamaecyparis pisifera trand to reduce the mean blood pressure. The abdominal pain induced by acetic acid was reduced only by an essential oil from Pinus koraiensis in mouse.
