The number of deaths from child traffic accidents in Korea is currently higher than the average figure of OECD members, and attention needs to be paid to reduce the school zone accident rate. According to the TAAS statistics of the Traffic Accident Analysis System, the number of deaths from traffic accidents in children (under 12 years of age) in Korea has been steadily decreasing recently, but the number of accidents and injuries has been continuously increasing and decreasing. With the number of accidents and injuries of children in Korea continuing to increase and decrease, the number of traffic accidents, deaths, and injuries of children in the school zone (under 12 years of age) has also been on the rise since 2019. Therefore, we were different from the preceding study (Study on Improvement through School Zone Accident Risk Survey, Study on Improvement of Children's Traffic Safety Facilities through Simulation Program). In order to prevent traffic accidents among school zones, which have the highest accident rate among children, a survey was conducted on traffic safety facilities and safety awareness of drivers. After that, we will analyze the problems and present measures for improving traffic safety in the school zone and improving drivers' safety awareness.
It is very important to build a safe walking environment for children because children are more likely to be exposed to traffic accidents than adults due to their behavioral and physical characteristics. Therefore, this study analyzed the characteristics of road and transportation safety facilities that affect pedestrian traffic accidents around school zones using spatial poisson regression. The pedestrian-vehicle crash data in Seoul 2016-2018 was provided by the Traffic Accident Analysis System(TAAS). The main analysis results are as follow; First, the more intersections and the higher percentage of neighborhood roads in the school zone, the higher the risk of pedestrian traffic accidents. Second, the pedestrian push button was found to reduce the occurrence of pedestrian traffic accidents. Third, except for the pedestrian push button, none of the transportation safety facilities considered in this study were effective in reducing the risk of pedestrian traffic accidents. On the other hand, if not only the improvement of physical facilities but also non-physical factors such traffic safety education are supported, the effect for reducing traffic pedestrian traffic accidents in the school zone is expected to be further maximized.
It is difficult to examine the causal relation of pollution damages because the time gap between pollution cause and effect is large and new pollutants are continuously being produced. Their many environmental effects are not promptly studied. As both the study of causal relation about pollution and the pollutant treatment are becoming highly advanced by the development of science and environmental technology, both the economy and balance on environmental regulation may be discussed. It is reasonable to decide environmental policy in consideration of close relation between both the generation and resolution of environmental problems and of technological developments because environmental problems are related to complicated social problems and scientific technologies. First item in policy decision about environmental control and management is preferentially to consider the way of prevention. It is necessary to prevent pollution by regulating the installment of environmental pollution facility into the environmentally sensitive areas, like water supply source and to regulate land utilization as a method to achieve pollution prevention. Second is a consideration of environmental technology development. This is a solution which can accomplish the development of environmental technology and the reinforcement of economic competition. Third is the coexistence of environment and economy. It is necessary to consider economy in connection with environmental problems and environment in economic problem. Then, we can enjoy a healthy life as well as economic affluence. Fourth is the enlargement of environmental management means. Environmental management means must be diversified because environmental cause and effect are varied. For Improving the land use regulation system, it is necessary to consider both land use regulation status and pollutant toxicity with the development of environmental technology. Land use must be approached by classifying land to 3 levels; water source protection zone and water front zone, special zone 1 and 2, rancus and other zones. Land regulation policy to prevent any accident in water source protection zone, waterfront zone, and special zone must be continuously upgraded. However, economical consideration in other zones is required by the development of environmental technology.

As the wooden aircraft in the early times has no way to let lightning flow when lighting flash attaches during flight, the aircraft got damage, or caught fire. Though all metal airplane was developed with an advent of aluminum, a lightning accident still occurred including a fire of a fuel tanks. Eventually, NACA declared problems in 1938, and an artificial lightning test began. III succession, FAA established Airworthiness Requirements for certification. The FAA committed test measures study for the protection of an airplane from lightning to SAE. SAE presented the test current and voltage waveforms that simulating natural lightning, and it is utilized on lightning protection certification of an airplane by public. A lightning effects of an airplane through an analysis of lightning mechanism was made in this technical note. Especially, lightning direct effects on aircraft are analyzed and lightning strike zones are described.

The primary function of navigation system is to provide route search and road guidance for safe driving for drivers. However, the existing route search system provides a simple service that looks up the shortest route using a safe driving DB without considering different road characteristics for the safety of the drivers. In order to maintain the safe driving, rather than searching the shortest path, a navigation system, in which the danger areas and/or the dangerous time zones have been considered, is required. Therefore, in this paper we propose a strategy of searching a navigation path to avoid danger areas for safe driving by using the A* algorithm. In the strategy, when evaluating the path-specific fitness of the navigation nodes, different heuristic weights were assigned to different types of risk areas. In particular, we considered three kinds of danger areas, such as accident-prone sections where accidents occur frequently, school zones, and intersection regions, as well as the time slots when the probability of danger is high. From computer simulation, the results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can provide the way to avoid danger areas on the route searching and confirm the possibility of providing the actual service.
The evacuation simulation study was performed with the boundary condition of a fire simulator, referring to Dae-gu Subway Fire Accident which was a real station fire. The subway station was modelled from B3F station building to B2F waiting room in fire simulation. Also, a fire simulation were performed with CFAST and FLUENT. In CFAST, the total 29 zones were divided into 18 station buildings in B3F and 11 station buildings in B2F. In FLUENT, the simulated space had the same establishment as zone of CFAST. The study focused on possibility for application of fire simulation in underground station by comparing the resulted values from two simulators. For application of fire effect, the fire data were loaded directly to EXODUS in the case of CFAST and performed a passenger evacuation simulation. In the case of FLUENT, Out Data values of a fire simulation were difficult to be compatible with EXODUS. Two resulted values of passenger evacuation simulation by fire simulation were compared with the Dae-gu Subway Fire Accident in reality.

There is high probability of children's traffic accidents. Because their physical, mental attribute are weak. Major part of the accidents happen during walking. Above all, jaywalking is the biggest traffic accident reason. Many traffic accidents take place on the road to school or near the home area. So Ministry of Public Administration and Security legislated children safeguard zone since 1995. But a study are inadequate the safety facilities on the effectiveness verification in the school zone. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of safety facilities. The vehicle speed is a direct correlation traffic accident. So in this study, the MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) is average travel speed in the school zone. The results shows that hump, rised pedestrian crossing has an effect.
In recent years, the number of traffic accidents caused by car accidents has been decreasing steadily due to traffic accident prevention activities in Korea. However, the number of accidents in Seoul is higher than that of other regions. Various studies have been conducted to prevent traffic accidents, which are human disasters. In particular, previous studies have performed the spatial analysis of traffic accidents by counting the number of traffic accidents by administrative districts or by estimating the density through kernel density method in order to identify the traffic accident cluster areas. However, since traffic accidents take place along the road, it would be more meaningful to investigate them concentrated on the road network. In this study, traffic accidents were assigned to the nearest road network in two ways and analyzed by hotspot analysis using Getis-Ord Gi* statistics. One of them was investigated with a fixed road link of 10m unit, and the other by computing the average traffic accidents per unit length per road section. As a result by the first method, it was possible to identify the specific road sections where traffic accidents are concentrated. On the other hand, the results by the second method showed that the traffic accident concentrated areas are extensible depending on the characteristic of the road links. The methods proposed here provide different approaches for visualizing the traffic accidents and thus, make it possible to identify those sections clearly that need improvement as for the traffic environment.
Background: One of the most urgent issues following the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (FDNPP) was the remediation of the land, in particular, for residential area contaminated by the radioactive materials discharged. In this study, the effect of decontamination on reduction of ambient dose equivalent outdoors and indoors was evaluated. The latter is essential for residents as most individuals spend a large portion of their time indoors. Materials and Methods: From December 2012 to November 2014, thirty-seven Japanese single-family detached wooden houses were investigated before and after decontamination in evacuation zones. Outdoor and indoor dose measurements (n = 84 and 114, respectively) were collected based on in situ measurements using the NaI (Tl) scintillation surveymeter. Results and Discussion: The outdoor ambient dose equivalents [$H^*(10)_{out}$] ranged from 0.61 to $3.71{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ and from 0.23 to $1.32{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ before and after decontamination, respectively. The indoor ambient dose equivalents [$H^*(10)_{in}$] ranged from 0.29 to $2.53{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ and from 0.16 to $1.22{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ before and after decontamination, respectively. The values of reduction efficiency (RE), defined as the ratio by which the radiation dose has been reduced via decontamination, were evaluated as $0.47{\pm}0.13$, $0.51{\pm}0.13$, and $0.58{\pm}0.08$ ($average{\pm}{\sigma}$) when $H^*(10)_{out}$ < $1.0{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$, $1.0{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ < $H^*(10)_{out}$ < $2.0{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$, and $2.0{\mu}Sv\;h^{-1}$ < $H^*(10)_{out}$, respectively, indicating the values of RE increased as $H^*(10)_{out}$ increased. It was found that the values of RE were $0.53{\pm}0.12$ outdoors and $0.41{\pm}0.09$ indoors, respectively, indicating RE was larger outdoors than indoors. Conclusion: Indoor dose is essential as most individuals spend a large portion of their time indoors. The difference between outdoors and indoors should be considered carefully in order to estimate residents' exposure dose before their returning home.

Ship-floating object accidents can lead not only to a delay in ship's operations, but also to large scale casualties. Hence, preventive measures are required to avoid them. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal aspects of such collisions based on the data on ship-floating object accidents in sea areas in the last five years, including the collisions in South Korea's territorial seas and exclusive economic zones. We also provide basic data for related research fields. To understand the distribution of the relative density of accidents involving floating objects, the sea area under analysis was visualized as a grid and a two-dimensional histogram was generated. A multinomial logistic regression model was used to analyze the effect of variables such as time of day and season on the collisions. The spatial analysis revealed that the collision density was highest for the areas extending from Geoje Island to Tongyeong, including Jinhae Bay, and that it was high near Jeongok Port in the West Sea and the northern part of Jeju Island. The temporal analysis revealed that the collisions occurred most frequently during the day (71.4%) and in autumn. Furthermore, the likelihood of collision with floating objects was much higher for professional fishing vessels, leisure vessels, and recreational fishing vessels than for cargo vessels during the day and in autumn. The results of this analysis can be used as primary data for the arrangement of Coast Guard vessels, rigid enforcement of regulations, removal of floating objects, and preparation of countermeasures involving preliminary removal of floating objects to prevent accidents by time and season.
