  • This study delivers the actual condition of investment for industrial accident prevention based on survey of 500 construction sites from 'reports far industry safety and health' published by Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA). The various research techniques were used such as technical statistic analysis for construction industry, cost comparison of industrial accident prevention and accident loss. A formula was deduced to calculate accident loss and accident frequency by accident prevention cost through regression analysis.

  • When workers get accidents in doing their works, industrial accident insurance covers the compensation for the accidents. Generally, this kind of costs is applied in terms of Direct Cost. In our society circumstance to terminate the accident, many kinds of cost (Non-Insurance Cost) are also discharged. Non-Insurance Cost resulted from additional compensation for insurance allowance, is the important basic data source to estimate Loss Cost. Several studies have been done for the output of accident cost, but companies have difficult to apply these studies into practice and generalize the amount of accident loss cost. This study means to suggest improving solutions for the output of Accident Loss Cost and to reduce Opportunity Cost caused by Industrial Accident.

비보험비용의 발생 단계 분류에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Classification of Uninsured Cost Occurrence)

  • Although prior researches have been investigated the impact of insured cost(direct cost) on employers and employees, little work has attempted to categorize the items of unsecured cost(indirect cost) by accidents. On this basis, the goal of this study was to achieve a better understanding of the nature of accident cost of unsecured cost. Specifically, this study aimed to categorize the unsecured cost items according to the domestic industry circumstances and use these results for a basis of other accident cost related studies. The results of this study are as follows: (1) accident development steps were categorized as twelve items for improved management according to each step of accident development (2) the points of occurrence and termination of the unsecured cost were identified for the improved management according to each step of accident development and (3) characteristics of each item in unsecured cost were studied and identified for a better control of accident costs. These results provide a basis for further researches on the unsecured cost.

  • Accident analysis is special concern to researchers in traffic safety. Accident analysis in product safety, however, is not. The needs of product safety management alter it in the world by all manufacturers. The purpose of this study is to propose a theoretical principles for product safety management through the accident cost analyses. The accident cost is a important factor to prevent product accident and to treat some claims of customers. It is sure that this principles can help all making decisions of manufactures with expected accident cost per a product accident and with total expected accident cost.

한방병원에 내원한 교통사고 외래환자에 있어서 사고규모와 치료기간 및 치료비용 간의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (The Study on Correlation between Traffic Accident Severity with Period and Cost of Treatment in Traffic Accident Outpatients Visiting a Korean Medicine Hospital)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the corelation between traffic accident severity and treatment period and cost by traffic accident. Methods Outpatients who visited Jaseng Korean medicine hospital traffic accident clinic were investigated by hospital computer system about period and cost of treatment. And we requested for repair cost of car, a sort of car groups and agreement date with car insurance company to insurance company. Therefore we could analysis statistical correlation of traffic accident severity (repair cost of car) with period of treatment, cost of treatment, number of treatment in same sort of car groups. For statistics, we used SPSS version 18.0 for windows. Results A significant positive correlation was found between traffic accident severity (repair cost of car) with repair cost of car, cost of treatment and number of treatment in semi-midsize car, midsize car group. But, any significant correlation wasn't found between traffic accident severity (repair cost of car) with repair cost of car, cost of treatment and number of treatment in small car, full-sized car group. In SUV (sport utility vehicle) car group some significant correlation was found, but it isn't between traffic accident severity (repair cost of car) with repair cost of car, cost of treatment and number of treatment. Conclusions It was found that traffic accident severity (repair cost of car) had an effect on cost of car, cost of treatment and number of treatment by statistical analysis. But, it was also suggested strongly that other factors like a cost of car and ages had an effect on them.

  • Estimation of accident costs would set a sound criterion on which invest judgement for work improvement would be decided. Unfortunately, however, the professional agency and most companies in Korea still adopt the conventional cost estimation method based on Heinrich's theory would not be applicable any more since it was developed about a century ago. This research was carried out to confirm the validity of conventional accident cost estimation method. With 110 accident cases occurred in an autoglass manufacturing plant for last 7 years, post-accident treatment procedure was simplified as a model with several phases, and practical costs were analyzed case by case. The results showed that, as expected, the company should the largest portion of loss due to accidents, and that mean indirect cost were 10.10(${\pm}20.70$) times as much as direct cost estimated by conventional method. Therefore, finally, accident types and items influenced much on accidents costs were analyzed and discussed.

  • The quantitative evaluation method of the safety management cost was suggested to prevent a gas accident as a major industrial accident. In a gas governor station, process risk assessments such as the fault tree analysis(FTA) and the consequence analysis were performed. Based on process risk assessments, potential accident costs were estimated and the cost-benefit analysis(CBA) was performed. From the cost-benefit analysis for five classification items of safety management cost, the order of the cost/benefit ratio was estimated.
