  • A rotating axis diagnostic system supported with journal bearing has been established that has been widely used in the industry. In order to measure the most sensitive signals that would be generated in the abnormal operation, sensors which measure AE(acoustic emission), gap and acceleration have been attached at the various location on the experimental apparatus. Data were obtained in the steady state operational condition of the system which was verified through the empirical measurement. Notable discrepancies were observed in RMS acceleration signal which could be utilized to predict the undesirable operational condition of the system.

  • To obtain precise surface and high productivity, high speed end milling has been studied recently. Though high speed end milling is explicitly effective for precision surface generation geometrically, tool deflection, chatter vibration and frequency characteristics of end milling system deteriorate the theoretical surface. In this study, simulation algorithm and programming method are suggested to simulate machined surface using acceleration signal in high speed end milling. This simulation is conducted by considering vibrational effect of spindle system which was not considered by other researchers. Between simulated results and experiment results, good agreements were obtained.

  • In this paper, we developed a digital gait analyzer using the triaxial accelerometer(TA). An approach for normal gait detection employing decay slope peak detection(DSPD) algorithm was presented. The TA was attached to the center of the waist of a subject. The subject walked a bare floor at 60, 92 and 120 steps/minute. We analyzed vertical axis acceleration signal for gait detection. At 60, 92, 120 steps/minute walking, detection accuracy of gait events were over 99 % accuracy.

  • In oder to generate various shock signals in a field study, a passenger car was driven at several speeds over road profiles that included a number of half sine shaped bumps of various heights. A triaxial SAE pad sensor was mounted on the front passenger seat to measure the acceleration signals which might produce subjective discomfort. The measured accelerations were correlated with the subjective assessments of 14 subjects. The magnitude of subjective discomfort was found to be proportional to the VDV and also the peak to peak of the frequency weighted acceleration signal.

  • Portable devices, such as smart phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) play an important role in our everyday life. In this paper, we propose a step count algorithm based on SVM(signal vector magnitude) and a adaptive threshold processing to monitor the physical activity. The algorithm measures a user's step counts using the smart phone's inbuilt accelerometer and g sensor. Experiment results showed the proposed algorithm has good performance in accuracy and adaptability than the app on your smart phone.

  • Eco-driving of vehicles today presents an advantage that aims to reduce energy consumption and limit CO2 emissions. The application for this option is possible to older vehicles. In this paper, we propose an efficient implementation for IoT (Internet of Things) system for controlling vehicle components that affect the quality of driving (acceleration, braking, clutch, gear change) via Smartphone using Wi-Fi and BLE as communication protocol. The user can see in real-time data from sensors that control driver action on vehicle driving systems such as acceleration, braking, and vehicle shifting through a web interface. Thanks to this communication, the user can control his driving quality and, hence, eco-driving can be achieved

  • This paper has been studied about designed digital-pen using PIC and Accelerometer and about calculated acceleration by the measure analog signal from accelerometer Finally, we calculate the coordinates and the tilt about the acceleration and discuss the possibility of using the digital-pen from cellular phone. And we discuss about the full-duplex communication of input data that displayed in cellular phone.

Study on Reducing Processing Time for Restoration Method (영상신호 복원의 처리 시간단축을 위한 알고리즘에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, the method of processing a blurred noisy signal has been researched. The conventional method of processing signal has faults which are slow-convergence speed and long time-consuming process at the singular point and in the ill condition. There is the process, the Gauss-Seidel's method to remove these faults, but it takes too much time because it processes signal repeatedly. For overcoming the faults, this paper shows a signal process method which takes shorter than the Tikhnov-Miller's by comparing the Tikhnov-Miller's with proposed algorithm and accelerating convergence speed at the singular point in the ill condition. In this paper, the conventional process method and proposed optimal algorithm were used to get a standard image (256 * 256 * 8bits),and then the results are simulated and compared each other in order to examine the variance of MSE ( Mean-Square Error ) by the acceleration parameter in the proposed two dimensional signal procedures. The result of the signal process and the processing time was measured at all change of acceleration parameter in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • 고전의 관현악기에서부터 현대의 각종 전자악기까지, 인류는 그 문화와 시대의 변화에 따라 다양한 형태의 악기를 개발하고 활용하였다. 최근에는 전기전자 기술의 발달로 다양한 센서와 프로그램을 활용해서 여러 가지 음색과 효과를 내는 악기가 개발되고 있다. 그 중에서 사람의 움직임을 직접 감지해서 음악적 도구로 활용하는 기술이 주목 받고 있다. 이를 위해 터치 센서(touch sensor), 비젼 센서(vision sensor), 자기장 센서(magnetic sensor), 초음파 센서(ultrasonic sensor) 등이 응용되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지의 센서 기술로는 사람의 움직임과 관련된 위치, 속도, 가속도 등에 대한 정보를 직접 추출하기가 어렵고, 구현된 시스템도 공간의 제약을 받거나 혹은 구현된 부피가 크거나 복잡한 구성형태를 지니고 있는 문제점이 있었다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 사람의 움직임과 관련된 가속도 정보를 직접 감지해서 새로운 형태의 악기로 활용될 수 있는 시스템을 연구하고 개발하였다. 이를 위해 6개의 가속도 정보를 처리하는 기술과 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) 활용 기술, Max/MSP 활용 기술이 응용 되었으며, 소형의 시스템을 개발하기 위해 시그널 컨디셔닝(signal conditioning) 회로와 DSP 보드를 자체 개발하였다. 실험을 통해 사람의 움직임과 관련된 각종 정보가 적절한 소프트웨어의 활용으로 다양한 음색의 변화는 물론 음높이, 음량의 변화까지도 제어할 수 있음을 확인하였고, 새로운 형태의 악기로써 무대 공연이나 노래방 등에 폭넓게 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose effective diagnosis algorithm for hub bearing fault in driving vehicle using acceleration signal and wheel speed signal measured in hub bearing unit or knuckle. This algorithm consists of differential, envelope and power spectrum method. We developed diagnosis system for realizing proposed algorithm. This system consists of input device including acceleration sensor and wheel speed sensor, calculation device using Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and display device using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). Using this diagnosis system, a driver can see hub bearing fault(flaking) from the vibration in driving vehicle. With early repairing, he can keep good ride feeling and prevent accident of vehicle resulting from hub bearing fault.
