  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between university library usage and educational achievement of academic library users. To proceed with this study, academic library usage data were collected from S university undergraduate students. Academic achievement was measured using the students' grade point average(GPA). T-test and analysis of variance were used to compare differences of means between library usage and academic achievement with the background variables. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to determine the association between library usage and academic achievement. As a result, a positive correlation was found between academic achievement and the use of library resources and services according to gender, year and academic subject. In addition, academic library usage had a positive significant influence on academic achievement. Students who used more library resources and facilities ultimately get better grades.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the characteristics of a cooperative storage facility for academic libraries in Korea. For this facility, discussed are how to select a site, build physical facilities, recruit participating organizations, prepare for selection criteria and ownership of resources, confirm service policies, and implement a integrated library management and access system. It is emphasized that a cooperative storage facility for academic libraries in Korea should ensure the optimum use of space on campus, preserve "the last copy" which is not frequently used, but still has scholarly values, and extend the effective and efficient resource sharing among participating libraries.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine nurses' knowledge and attitude toward the elderly in medical welfare facilities for old people and identify the predictors of nurses's knowledge and attitude toward the elderly. Methods: The data were collected from 110 nurses by means of structured questionnaires. The structure survey was conducted to get the data from 83 medical welfare facilities for old people in Gwangju, Jeonnam and Jeonbuk provinces from December 15, 2006 to February 5, 2007. The collected data was analyzed with SPSS WIN 12.0, which uses descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The average knowledge score was $8.13{\pm}2.65$ out of 20. The average attitude score was $87.62{\pm}13.74$ out of 140. This score was classified as a neutral range. Respondents statistically showed significant differences in their knowledge of the elderly on their co-living experience and co-living period. Respondents statistically showed significant differences in their attitude of the elderly on their age, religion, work experience, work place and significant co-living experience. Conclusion: Nurses' knowledge and attitude toward the elderly were not significantly correlated.

  • According to the changing of administrative environment from the high-leveled industrial age to the informational and international open door age, necessity of governmental officials re-training has been being emphasized. For leveling up the re-training effect, leveling up of the instructors' capability is strongly required with enlargement of re-training participating opportunity and the development of curriculum. The authors carried out a study on the securing status of instructors for the governmental officials training facilities and picked up some problems involved. Required academic career of instructors which is certified as holders of bachelor degree or more for the central training facilities and junior college graduate diploma or more for the district ones looks too low considering with trainees' age, academic career and social experiment. Then it should be leveled up to the holders of master degree or more for the central facilities and bachelor degree or more for the district ones. Required official career of instructors for specific subjects which is certified as three years or more looks so short that should be enlarged to five years or more. Preliminary training for instructors themselves should be reinforced before appointing the instructors to have a study on the teaching method and concerned subjects, and also the career of instructors should be reflected with advantage to the promotion of officials.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing health workers' infection management behavior in long-term care facilities. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted with 180 health workers who are employed in long-term care facilities. The data were collected from April, 25 until July, in 2016. Results: Infection management behavior positively correlated with the perceived importance of infection management (r=.77, p<.001), but role conflict negatively correlated with infection management behavior (r=.28, p<.001). The hierarchical regression model with general characteristics (first step) and perceived importance of infection management, work environment, and role conflict (second step) against infection management behavior was statistically significant (F=31.93, p<.001). This model could explain 62.8% of infection management behavior ($R^2=.62$, ${\Delta}R^2=.39$). Particularly, perceived importance of infection management was identified as factors influencing infection management behavior(${\beta}=.70$, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study imply that systemic education about infection control and monitoring should be considered, so as to encourage proper infection management behaviors among health workers in long-term care facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive and type utilization indexes by comparing public design indicators with preceding studies related to closed school facilities, and to derive preliminary classification systems through a correlation review between indicators. Pre-research was conducted in the scope of academic papers, academic journals, research reports, and special act for promoting the utilization of closed school assets. Public design indicators were set in the scope of domestic design guidelines, the Seoul city public design assessment system, the 'Good Building' designation system, and the UK Design Quality Index (DQI). and the design review of the British architects. First of all, the research method looked at laws, procedures and utilization of closed schools, and reviewed the preceding study and domestic and international public design indicators sequentially. Next, the association was reviewed through a comparison between the preceding study and the public design indicators, and a preliminary classification system for the use of closed schools was derived from this.

To achieve these purposes, the architectural remodeling characteristics of 23 campus facilities have been investigated, and the technical construction methods were also analyzed for each one of these facilities. The results from this study are as follows : (1) The requests from the changes of academic plan and the degradation and obsolescence are highly occupied the causes of architectural remodeling in campus facilities. (2) In technical construction methods, the horizontal and vertical additions are effective in campus facilities remodeling. (3) According to the recent campus remodeling tendencies, the campus facility remodeling plan and schedule should be included in campus facility master plan.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to estimate drug prescription indicators in outpatient services provided at Iran Social Security Organization (SSO) healthcare facilities. Methods: Data on all prescribed drugs for outpatient visits from 2017 to 2018 were extracted from the SSO database. The data were categorized into 4 main subgroups: patient characteristics, provider characteristics, service characteristics, and type of healthcare facility. Logistic regression models were used to detect risk factors for inappropriate drug prescriptions. SPSS and IBM Modeler software were utilized for data analysis. Results: In 2017, approximately 150 981 752 drug items were issued to outpatients referred to SSO healthcare facilities in Iran. The average number of drug items per outpatient prescription was estimated at 3.33. The proportion of prescriptions that included an injection was 17.5%, and the rate of prescriptions that included an antibiotic was 37.5%. Factors such as patient sex and age, provider specialty, type of facility, and time of outpatient visit were associated with the risk of inappropriate prescriptions. Conclusions: In this study, all drug prescription criteria exceeded the recommended limits set by the World Health Organization. To improve the current prescription patterns throughout the country, it would be beneficial to provide providers with monthly and annual reports and to consider implementing some prescription policies for physicians.
