Health-Care Providers' and Parents' Perspectives on Complementary Alternative Medicine in Children with Cancer in Indonesia

  • Background: Complementary alternative medicine (CAM) use in children with cancer is widespread. Health-care providers (HCP) need to acknowledge and address this need. This study explored and compared perspectives on CAM of HCP and parents of young patients with cancer in Indonesia. Materials and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using semi-structured questionnaires in HCP and parents of childhood cancer patients at an Indonesian academic hospital. Results: A total of 351 respondents participated: 175 HCP (response rate 80%) and 176 parents (response rate 80%). Parents were more likely than HCP to think that chemotherapy can cure cancer (80% compared to 69%, P=0.013). Nearly half of all parents (46%) and HCP (45%) doubted whether CAM can cure cancer. Parents were more likely than HCP to think that CAM can be helpful in childhood cancer treatment (54% compared to 35%, P=0.003). The most recommended CAM by HCP was self-prayer (93%). Reasons for recommending CAM were: hope for improvement of the child's condition (48%), patient wants to stop treatment (42%). Most discouraged CAM by HCP was by old-smart people (70%), the reasons being: lack of evidence for usefulness (77%), lack of CAM knowledge (75%). The proportion thinking that patients were unlikely to raise the CAM topic if they perceived that doctors were skeptical was higher in parents than in HCP (52% versus 1%) (P<0.001). Most HCP (71%) and parents (77%) acknowledged that their knowledge about safety and efficacy of CAM was inadequate (P=ns). The proportion that wanted to learn or read more about CAM was higher among parents than HCP (48% compared to 31%, P=0.002). Conclusions: HCP and parents have different perspectives on CAM use in children with cancer. HCP should enhance their CAM knowledge and encourage open communication about CAM with parents. If doctors' skepticism is perceived, parents are unlikely to raise CAM as a topic.

감염관리에 관한 치과의료소비자들의 인식도 (Recognition of Medical Consumer over the Infection Control of Dental Clinic)

  • 이 연구는 치과감염에 대한 의료소비자들의 인식도를 파악하고자 대구지역 치과병원(3곳)에 내원하는 환자를 대상으로 설문조사하여 회수한 213부를 분석 하였다. 그 결과 가장 중요하게 생각하는 감염관리는 '기구소독'이 64.3%로 많았고, 연령에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(P<0.01). 감염관리 책임여부에 대해서는 72.3%가 '치과의사, 직원'의 책임이라고 답하였고 학력에서 유의하였다(P<0.001). 청결위생중요도에서는 70.0%가 '매우중요하다'고 답하였고, 성별(P<0.05)과 연령(P<0.01)에서 유의하게 나타났다. 치과 감염관리에 관한 정보습득 경험이 있는 사람이 없는 사람보다 손 씻기(P<0.001), 타액 흡입기 교체(P<0.001), 양치컵 교체(P<0.01)여부를 더 유심이 관찰하고, 보안경 착용여부도 더 중요하게 생각하는 것으로 조사되었다(P<0.01). 이상의 연구결과로 치과 의료기관은 보건복지부에서 고지하는 감염관리 평가를 잘 인지하고 일반 의료소비자들의 눈높이에 맞는 감염관리를 실천한다면 병원의 신뢰도는 물론 환자만족도까지 높일 수 있는 바탕이 될 것이라 생각된다.

친환경 밤의 소비자 인식 및 지불의사금액 분석 (A Study on Consumer Perception and Willingness to Pay for Environmentally Friendly Chestnuts in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 임산물 가운데 생산과 수출 양면에서 가장 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 밤을 대상으로 친환경 밤에 대한 소비자 구입의향 및 행태를 통계학적으로 종합 분석하여 친환경 밤의 소비확대를 도모할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 우리나라 소비중심지인 서울(350명)과 수도권의 신도시 일산(150명), 분당(150명) 등 총 650명의 가정주부를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 친환경 밤에 대한 소비촉진 활동은 모든 소비자를 대상으로 하기보다는 일차적으로 대도시에 거주하고 있는 3~4인 가족, 연령층은 30~40대의 젊은 주부계층, 교육 수준은 대졸학력 이상, 윌평균 수입액은 450만원 이상 고소득, 친환경임산물을 구입한 경험이 있는 소비자 등을 특정 표적대상으로 하여 소비확대 방안을 마련하는 것이 효과적이라 할 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 친환경임산물 판매처의 안정적인 확보와 함께 소비자가 인식하고 있는 친환경 밤에 대한 가치와 품질이 가격에 반영되는 가격설정이 필요하다. 이는 본 연구에서 실시한 소비자들의 종합적이며 결집된 지표인 친환경 밤에 대한 지불의사금액을 기초로 가능할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

경주황성동고분출토(慶州隍城洞古墳出土) 토용(土俑)의 복식사적의미(服飾史的意味) (A STUDY ON THE COSTUME REPRESENTED IN CLAY FIGURES HWANGSUNG-DONG BURIAL TOMB)

  • In May 1987, 11 clay icons and other stone products were excavated in an abandoned ancient tomb which was located in 541-1 Hwangsung-dong, Kyungju. 6 clay figures of them were depicted realistically man's features and postures, costume at that time that they gave a lot of significance to the fields of Korean Costume's Academic Society. The main purpose of this thesis is to study the background of costume history when it was made and its formal characteristics with the study of those 6 clay figures. Shilla accepted the customs and attires of Sui and T'ang by means of frequent in coming and out going Chinese envoy as well as Shilla's envoy, monks, hostages, and students in China. From that period, the diversity of Shilla's costume began to develop by introducing Tang's style into Shilla's costume. Crested hat of men's clothing of the clay figures in Hwangsung- Dong is Bokdu Men's figure II wore Bokdu which Hugak is attached to Byunhyung. The garment is a Po and it is a tight sleeve and silhouette's Banryungpo. The horizontal line of hemline of men's figure 1 can be presumed by expression of Ran though it is not as accurate as the clay figues in Yongg-ang-Dong. As for torso part 1, it can not be known the style of the crested hat because the head part was damaged, but it were shoes, belt and common sleeve, Banryungpo on tight sleeve shirt and tight trouser. The hair style of the women's clothing in Hwangsung-dong clay figure is Bukkye peculiar to Korea. The costume was slim silhouette that people wore tight sleeve and short blouse and long skirt and belted on their bosom which dresses style was in vogue from late Sui dynasty to the early years of the Tang period. The silh ouette of slim silhouette's high waist which can be seen in the women's dresses is mainly worn by Chinese and affected Shilla's costume. Therefore the dresses style of the clay figures in Hwagsung-Dong, it is considered it is a dresses style of tight sleeves and slim silhouette together with the adaptation and abolition of foreign elements on the basis of Shilla's own elements like Bukkye hair style and tight sleeve and silhouette. The style of Yonggang-Dong's clay figures expresses spherical gei and common sleeve, loose silhouette of flourishing Tang's costumes planly whereas the style of Hwangsung-Dong's clay costumes expresses refined spirit of the Shilla(Shillaism) though it is extremly simple.

온라인 유통 채널에서 컨텐츠의 성과는 사회적 거리에 의해 항상 증가하는가? YouTube의 문화별컨텐츠를 중심으로 (Does Social Distance Always Increase Content Performance in Online Distribution Channels?)

  • Purpose - This study examines the positive impact of the social distance between producers and users of online content, investigating and analyzing the most popular Web content. In addition, it tries to elicit the matching effect that appears when the individuals'cultural background is consistent with social distance. Research design, data, and methodology - We collected and analyzed actual data about 4,981 videos clips on YouTube, looking at six countries in order to verify the content of this study. Based on the results of the data analysis, the study conducted behavioral measurements on popularity, social distance, culture, and user engagement. The unit of analysis was the content and we collected information about the content producers and the content records. We controlled the views, comments, likes, calendar dates, and ages in the empirical models. The data was collected in 2011, with the records coming from South Korea, Japan, China, U.S., German, and France. A total of 4,980 elements were analyzed in the model. The empirical model estimated is the bivariate negative binomial distribution (NBD) model. Results - It turns out that there is a possibility that the matching effect can be diminished by variables that reflect the psychological involvement of user engagement. This study proposes academic and practical implications based on these research results. This research shows the positive effect of social distance between users and producers on the increased performance of the online content. We find the effect of social distance to be a stronger tendency in collectivism. The collectivists follow their sense of friendship and intimacy in their culture and, the social congruence effect can be found there as well. The effect, however, could erode in a social case where users are motivated by strong intrinsic and psychological factors. In addition, user engagement complicates the process of user decision making regarding the information. Conclusions - This study examines how the differential effects of social distance caused by culture could disappear through user commitment as a complicated user motivation. Some potential implications are as follows. First, a firm in the collectivism culture has to communicate based on the social distance. In fact, most online channels do not have a function that indicates the social distance as measured by favorites or subscribers. This function could help increase the performance of the content in online channels, but this increasing effect can only be found in a collectivist culture. Based on this, the firms have to communicate and announce to users the actual social distance between users and producers. Second, firms should develop a system that discovers the social distance and culture and shows these measures to users and producers, since the congruence effect between social distance and culture is found only for low user engagement. The firms can take the advantage of the congruence effect only for the development of the social distance and culture visualized system.

치과위생사의 의료인화에 대한 의료종사자들의 견해 (The opinions of health care workers on the inclusion of dental hygienists in the category of medical personnel)

  • Objectives: The study investigated health professionals working in the metropolitan area and Jeolla-bukdo, South Korea, from April 30 to May 17, 2017 to understand their views on the issue of including dental hygienists in the scope of medical personnel of South Korea. Methods:A total of 270 surveys were analyzed in this study. The survey consists of 5 questions on general issues; 10 on the awareness of present work of dental hygienist; and 1 on opposition or approval about including dental hygienist in medical personnel. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows 18.0, as well as frequency analysis, cross analysis and logistic regression analysis. Statistical significance level (${\alpha}$) is 0.05. Results: 1. Broken down by gender, male subjects showed more oppositions against including dental hygienists in the category of medical personnel while female subjects showed more favorable opinions (p<0.05). In terms of academic background, those who had graduated from graduate school or higher showed a higher propensity for opposition while those who had graduated from a 3-year college showed a higher tendency for approval on the idea (p<0.05), In terms of occupational type, health professionals showed more opposing views whereas medical technologists showed more approvals than others (p<0.001). 2. With respect to the awareness of work specialty and proficiency of dental hygienist according to general characteristics, the higher the age, the higher the awareness level was. In terms of the occupational type, medical technologists were found to have higher awareness level than health professionals (p<0.001). 3. With respect to the relationship between general characteristics and view on including dental hygienists in medical personnel, the occupational type of health professional was found to have 6.33 times more oppositions than medical technologists. When the awareness level on proficiency of dental hygienist was low, opposition was 6.52 times more frequent (p<0.05). Conclusions: Based on the findings above, the inclusion of dental hygienists in medical personnel seems necessary in properly establishing the specialty and role of dental hygienist in the dentist medical environment of the country in order to enhance national oral health related preventive dental service and expand the demand. To this end, it is necessary to provide nationwide promotion, work to change the awareness of health professionals in other occupational types, and facilitate public promotion for legal ground establishment.

지우는 맥락 상황에서의 사용자 경험(UX)에 관한 연구 (A Study on User Experience(UX) in the Usage Context of Erasing)

  • 본 연구에서는 현대 사회의 주요 흐름인 '발전과 진화'의 방향성에서 한발 물러나, '지우는' 경험과 그 감성에 대한 연구 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 지금까지 많은 주목을 받지 못한 키워드인 지우는 경험에 대한 통합적 문헌조사를 우선적으로 수행하였으며, 이를 토대로 실제 사용자들을 대상으로 하는 맥락 질문법을 진행하였다. 맥락 질문법의 경우, 아날로그적인 연필-지우개 사용맥락, 디지털의 대표적인 맥락인 컴퓨터-키보드 사용맥락, 마지막으로 최근 활발한 활용을 보이는 Tablet PC 사용맥락에 따른 사용자들을 모집한 후, 각각의 사용맥락에 대한 In-depth한 정성적 인터뷰 및 정량적 자료 수집을 진행하였다. 결과적으로, 지우는 맥락에서는 특정 내용을 잘 지워내는 상황적 효용뿐만 아니라 이를 수행하는 사용자에게도 정서적으로 만족스러운 경험을 제공해야함을 확인할 수 있었다. 해당 연구에서 진행된 탐험적 시도 및 실증적 결과들은 향후 연구들에 대한 학술적 접근과 함께 실용적 관점에서의 디자인 함의를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

온라인 커뮤니티에서 자기표현욕구의 영향요인과 디지털 아이템 구매의도에 미치는 효과 (The Antecedents of Need for Self-Presentation and the Effect on Digital Item Purchase Intention in an Online Community)

  • Lots of virtual communities and online businesses presently derive their primary sources of revenues through advertising, but nevertheless are plagued with marginal profitability though they might possess a significant user base. In the light of the need for an efficacious business model, there have been recent insights of an online community in particular reaping profits through an innovative and lucrative revenue generation method that earns by selling digital items. There have been some obvious evidences (e.g., Cyworld, SecondLife, Habo Hotel, etc.) that online communities can be profitable through their unique business model of selling digital items. However, there is lack of understanding about the motivation of purchasing digital items. This study tries to identify the main motivators of digital item purchases based on social/individual identity theory and self-presentation theory. "Digital items", otherwise known as "virtual assets", may include online avatars, accessories for the avatars, decorative ornaments like furniture, digital wallpapers, skins, background music and virtual weapons used for Internet games. These digital items are employed by users for representation and articulation in the online space, especially to create and enhance their online profiles in web pages and games. Prices for digital items typically range from a few cents to a few dollars each. Based on the theoretical framework like social identity theory and self-presentation theory, we developed the research model and proposed seven hypotheses. An analysis of 225 members of Cyworld found that digital item purchase intention in virtual world is affected by both members' need for self-presentation and need for affiliation. We also found that the need for self-presentation is significantly increased by innovativeness of members, community group norm, and community involvement. We concluded that the need for self-presentation could be a key variable for profitable business model in online community service industry. However, neither individual self-efficacy nor the need for affiliation significantly influenced the need for self-presentation which triggers purchase intention of digital items. In term of the theoretical and practical contribution, this study can be a pioneering empirical research that investigates the purchase intention of digital items based on social identity theory and self-presentation theory in the online context. Also, the findings of our study are valuable and practical for practitioners in the market who wish to adopt or improve the business model of selling digital items in an online community. From the findings, it can be seen that innovativeness of users, community group norm, and community involvement are three significant factors that influence need for self-presentation of users which ultimately leads to their intentions to buy digital items. These findings put forth that virtual community providers and online businesses selling digital items should prioritize their efforts and focus on these three factors if they want to increase the sales of these digital items and generate greater revenues. This study provides important implications for academic researchers and practitioners to understand why the community members pay money for their digital items in virtual world and how the practitioners can increase the sales of digital items in an online community. A couple of limitations of the study and future research directions are also discussed.

한국 호스피스.완화의료 사회복지의 과거, 현재 그리고 미래 전략 (The Past, Present and Future Strategies of Korean Social Work in Hospice and Palliative Care)

  • 본 종설의 목적은 한국 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지가 어떤 활동을 전개했고 어떤 위치에 놓여 있는지를 이해함으로써 향후 한국 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지가 해야 할 미래전략 제시한다. 문헌조사와 참여관찰을 통해 한국 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지가 전개해 온 활동을 과거, 현재, 미래전략으로 나눠서 역할 및 자격 기준, 교육, 연구, 정책 활동의 네 축을 중심으로 살펴본다. 첫째, 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지사의 역할이 명확하게 정립되어 있지 않고 자격기준이 미비하다. 사회복지사의 불명확한 역할과 미비한 자격기준은 전문성 발휘를 어렵게 한다. 미래 전략은 역할의 재정립과 인력 및 자격기준의 마련이 필요하다. 둘째, 교육에 있어서 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지사를 대상으로 하는 전문교육이 충분하지 못하다. 또한 교육자가 부족하다. 미래전략은 전문교육의 강화와 교육자 개발 교육이 마련되어야 한다. 셋째, 연구에서 사회복지사의 학술지 게재 편수가 절대적으로 부족하며 타 전문직에 비해서 학술활동의 참여도가 낮다. 미래전략은 연구 및 학술활동의 활성화와 개입효과성 증명 등 정책반영에 필요한 근거 중심의 연구가 필요하다. 끝으로 제도적으로 인력확보 및 수가인정을 받지 못하고 있다. 미래전략은 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지사의 전담 인력확보, 수가인정을 위한 적극적인 정책 활동이 필요하다. 한국 호스피스 완화의료 사회복지는 전략적인 접근을 가지고 목표를 구체적으로 정하고 이에 집중해야 한다. 또한 관련 학회, 협회, 학교와 네트워킹과 파트너십 구축을 통해 인프라를 구축하며, 실행 조직체계를 구성하고 실행 주체를 강화해야 한다.

산업별 창업 결정요인의 세 가지 가설 검증, 2008-2014년 (Three Hypothesis Tests for Determinants of Business Start-up)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 창업의 이론적 배경에 근거하여 산업별 창업의 결정 요인을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 경기 요인, 소득 요인, 기술 혁신 요인 외에 지역 요인에도 초점을 맞춰 지역 산업구조 특성 및 지역 노동시장 구조를 고려하였다. 분석결과 산업별 창업 결정 요인에 있어서 창업의 세 가지 이론은 대체로 부합한다고 할 수 있다. 경기쇠퇴기에 오히려 창업이 증가하였고, 지역 내 소비 뿐 아니라, 1인당 지방재정지출의 경우에도 창업에 긍정적 영향을 미쳐 창업을 통한 지역경제 성장을 위해 지방정부의 역할이 보다 중요하다고 하겠다. 창업보육센터가 제조업 부문에서 창업에 긍정적 영향을 주어 중앙 및 지방정부의 창업 지원정책의 일환인 창업보육센터 외에도 다양한 산학 주도형 창업보육시설 또한 활성화되어야 할 것이다. 또한 창업에 있어서 인구증가는 잠재적 수요 창출 측면에서 볼 때 매우 중요한 요소였으며, 지역 산업구조 특성과 지역 내 인적자본의 영향은 산업별로 다르게 나타났다. 제조업의 경우 집적효과가 동(同)산업의 창업에 긍정적으로 작용하였으며, 기타 서비스업의 경우 다른 모든 조건이 일정할 때 인적자본 변수가 창업에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
