서해안 및 남해안의 해안단구 연구와 융기율 (Study on Coastal Terrace and Uplift Rate in the West and South Coasts of South Korea)

  • This study tries to reveal uplift rates inferred from relative and absolute ages on coastal terrace in the West and South Coasts of South Korea. Uplift rate from relative ages on Pleistocene coastal terrace in the West Coast rangesfrom approximately 0.059 to 0.282 m/ky, while a range of approximately 0.020~0.385 m/ky is calculated from the South Coast, suggesting that the South Coast shows higher rate than the West Coast. Based on absolute ages on coastal terrace during MIS 5 in the South Coast, on the other hand, the uplift rates 1 and 4 have ranges of approximately 0.042~0.062 m/ky and 0.051~0.087 m/ky, respectively, indicating that uplift rate in the South Coast is one-third to one-fourth to that in the East Coast. No research on absolute ages in West Coast terrace and lack of relative and absolute ages in the West and South Coasts are considered as the limit in this study.

Dental maturity of Saudi children: Role of ethnicity in age determination

  • Purpose: Demirjian's dental maturity scores and curves have been widely used for human age determination. Several authors have reported considerable differences between the true and estimated age based on the Demirjian curves, which have been accounted for by ethnicity. The purpose of the current study was to assess the role of ethnicity-specific dental maturation curves in age estimation of Saudi children. Materials and Methods: A sample of 452 healthy Saudi children aged 4 to 14 years were aged based on the original French-Canadian Demirjian curves and several modified Demirjian curves specified for certain ethnic groups: Saudi, Kuwaiti, Polish, Dutch, Pakistani, and Belgian. One-way ANOVA and a post hoc Scheff$\acute{e}$'s test were used to assess the differences between chronological age and dental age estimated by the different curves (P<0.05). Results: The curves designed for Dutch, Polish, Saudi, and Belgian (5th percentile) populations had a significantly lower error in estimating age than the original French-Canadian and Belgian (50th percentile) curves. The optimal curve for males was the Saudi one, with a mean absolute difference between estimated age and chronological age of 8.6 months. For females, the optimal curve was the Polish one, with a mean absolute difference of 7.4 months. It was revealed that accurate age determination was not related to certain ethnicity-specific curves. Conclusion: We conclude that ethnicity might play a role in age determination, but not a principal one.

  • The primary goal of the present study was to explore more detailed evidence for the influence of aging and gender effects on the capability of Korean healthy, ears to generate DPOAEs. DPOAEs were examined in series of human subjects, with clinically nonnal hearing, ranging in age from 10 to 65 years. All 60 Koreans were divided into 6 age groups. Each age group included 10 participants, 5 females and 5 males. The gender effects on the difference between the absolute amplitude and noise floor value in DPOAEs did not exist. The difference increased as the frequency increased. The aging effects on the difference between the absolute amplitude and noise floor value in DPOAEs did exist. The difference increased as the frequency increased but orderly age effects could not be found. The principle finding was that, when compared between emissions in young and old ears, DPOAEs accurately tracked the systematic deterioration of high-frequency hearing in aging individuals. Such results support the need to reestablish the criterion for interpretation of DPOAEs in the elderly.

  • 본 연구는 Drost et al. (2018)이 제안한 LA-ICP-MS를 이용한 새로운 'image-mapping' in-situ U-Pb 연대측정법을 소개하고, 국내 전기고생대 조선누층군 시료를 대상으로 처음 적용하여 결정한 절대연대 결과 사례를 통해 이 방법의 특성과 활용성을 알리고자 한다. 탄산염광물을 대상으로 하는 'image-mapping' in-situ U-Pb 연대측정법은 미세조직 관찰을 기초로 미소영역의 'image-mapping' 법을 적용하여, 기존의 점 분석(spot analysis) in-situ 분석법과는 달리, 신뢰성 높은 절대연대를 결정할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 생성 이후 일어난 복수의 지질학적 '사건' 절대연대도 결정할 수 있다. 막골층과 대기층 탄산염광물로부터 퇴적연대와 함께 복수의 퇴적 이후의 연대를 결정한 적용 사례에서 이를 확인하였다. 따라서 이 같은 'image-mapping' in-situ U-Pb 연대측정법이 전 지질시대에 걸쳐 다양한 지질학적 환경에서 존재하는 다양한 형태의 탄산염광물 절대연대 결정에 적용된다면, 새로운 지질학적 연대정보 확보가 가능할 것이다.

  • 전통적인 생명보험 상품뿐만 아니라 최근에 많이 판매가 이루어지고 있는 변액연금에 이르기까지 보험료와 준비금의 계산 및 리스크 관리에 다중탈퇴율이 많이 사용된다. 보험의 탈퇴현상은 특정 연령에서 1년이내 임의 시점에 탈퇴가 발생할 확률을 필요로 하므로 이러한 현상을 나타내는 소수연령 (Fractional Age)에 대한 분포의 가정이 탈퇴율의 계산에 필수적인 요소이다. Lee (2008b)는 절대탈퇴율에서 다중탈퇴율로의 전환 공식을 UDD 가정대신에 탈퇴 원인별 동일한 소수연령 분포을 이용하여 유도하였다. 본 논문에서는 탈퇴 원인별로 소수연령 분포가 상이한 가정에서 절대탈퇴율에서 다중탈퇴율로의 전환 공식을 유도한다. 특히 해약률의 경우 해약 발생을 연속적이지 않고 이산적으로 다루는 경우가 실무에서 많으므로 사망 또는 장애의 발생과 다른 형태인 계단형 소수연령 분포함수가 필요하여 상이한 소수연령 분포에서 다중탈퇴율을 계산하는 공식을 제시한다. 또한 유도된 공식을 이용하여 적립금과 최소보증액의 수준에 따라서 달라지는 변액연금의 해약 현상을 반영하기 위하여 동적해약률(dynamic lapse rate)이 적용된 다중탈퇴율의 전환 과정을 설명한다.

소수연령 독립 가정에서 탈퇴율의 성질 (Decrement Models Under Fractional Independence Assumption)

  • 생명표(life table) 또는 다중탈퇴표(multiple decrement table)는 연령별로 1년 이내에 탈퇴가 발생할 확률을 나타내지만 보험의 탈퇴현상은 특정 연령에서 1년 이내 임의 시점에 탈퇴가 발생할 확률을 필요로 한다. 따라서 이러한 현상을 나타내는 소수연령(Fractional Age)에 대한 분포의 가정이 탈퇴율의 계산에 필수적인 요소이다. 실무에서는 UDD 가정을 이용하여 소수연령 분포에 대체하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Lee (2008)의 다중탈퇴율과 절대탈퇴율의 전환 공식을 UDD 가정 대신에 보다 일반적인 가정인 소수연령 독립(FI: Fractional Age Independence) 가정하에서 연 기준의 절대탈퇴율을 월 기준의 다중탈퇴율로 전환하거나 연 기준의 다중탈퇴율을 월 기준의 절대탈퇴율로 전환하는 공식을 유도한다. 유도된 공식은 월 기준 대신에 일(day) 기준 또는 분기(quarter) 기준 또는 반기(semiannual) 기준 등으로도 전환 가능한 공식이다. 또한 월 기준의 절대탈퇴율에서 월 기준의 다중탈퇴율로 전환 가능한 공식도 제시한다. 추가적으로 다중탈퇴율이 FI 가정을 따를 때 절대탈퇴율에서 다중탈퇴 율로 전환하는 공식도 유도한다. 여러 가지 유도된 공식은 Bowers 등 (1997)와 Lee (2008)에 있는 전환 공식 일반적인 형태임을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 여러 가지 유도된 공식을 이용하여 수치 예를 통하여 절대탈퇴율과 다중탈퇴율의 전환과정을 각각 설명한다.

피부섬유모세포 전사체 정보를 활용한 구간 선택 기반 연령 예측 (Age Prediction based on the Transcriptome of Human Dermal Fibroblasts through Interval Selection)

  • 본 논문에서는 인간의 피부섬유모세포(Human dermal fibroblasts)로부터 확보한 전사체 정보를 활용하여 나이를 예측하는 방법을 소개한다. 제안 방법에서는 훈련을 통해 확보한 분류기 및 회귀 모델을 이용하여 샘플이 속한 적합한 연령 그룹을 선택한 후, 선택된 연령 그룹에 속하는 훈련 데이터의 관측값을 활용하여 구체적인 연령을 예측한다. 연령을 예측하려는 샘플이 입력되면 복수 개의 판별 규칙이 순서대로 실행되는데, 개별 판별 규칙에서는 분류기와 회귀 모델을 동시에 실행하여 해당 판별 규칙에 대한 선택조건이 만족되는지 여부를 확인한다. 선택 조건이 만족될 경우 판별 규칙의 타겟 연령 그룹에 속하는 데이터를 이용하여 훈련된 회귀 모델로 연령을 예측하며, 선택 조건이 만족되지 않으면 후속 판별 규칙을 실행한다. 공개 데이터에 대하여 실험한 결과 기존 연구에서 달성한 7.7년의 평균 예측 오차보다 우수한 5.7년이라는 평균 예측 오차를 달성함을 확인하였다.

Clinical Validation of a Deep Learning-Based Hybrid (Greulich-Pyle and Modified Tanner-Whitehouse) Method for Bone Age Assessment

  • Objective: To evaluate the accuracy and clinical efficacy of a hybrid Greulich-Pyle (GP) and modified Tanner-Whitehouse (TW) artificial intelligence (AI) model for bone age assessment. Materials and Methods: A deep learning-based model was trained on an open dataset of multiple ethnicities. A total of 102 hand radiographs (51 male and 51 female; mean age ± standard deviation = 10.95 ± 2.37 years) from a single institution were selected for external validation. Three human experts performed bone age assessments based on the GP atlas to develop a reference standard. Two study radiologists performed bone age assessments with and without AI model assistance in two separate sessions, for which the reading time was recorded. The performance of the AI software was assessed by comparing the mean absolute difference between the AI-calculated bone age and the reference standard. The reading time was compared between reading with and without AI using a paired t test. Furthermore, the reliability between the two study radiologists' bone age assessments was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs), and the results were compared between reading with and without AI. Results: The bone ages assessed by the experts and the AI model were not significantly different (11.39 ± 2.74 years and 11.35 ± 2.76 years, respectively, p = 0.31). The mean absolute difference was 0.39 years (95% confidence interval, 0.33-0.45 years) between the automated AI assessment and the reference standard. The mean reading time of the two study radiologists was reduced from 54.29 to 35.37 seconds with AI model assistance (p < 0.001). The ICC of the two study radiologists slightly increased with AI model assistance (from 0.945 to 0.990). Conclusion: The proposed AI model was accurate for assessing bone age. Furthermore, this model appeared to enhance the clinical efficacy by reducing the reading time and improving the inter-observer reliability.

  • This study was carried out in order to become that it helped a base of education to train creation of movie costume. The object is the movie costume of the movie, The Age of Innocence that got the Academy award in movie costume. This study analyzed the costume and color symbolism of the film based on the novel, The Age of Innocence written by Edith Wharton who is a realism writer, and a master of manners and customs novel, is the first Pulitzer Prizewinner as a woman. And this study created the movie costume and hair-style of two heroines, May and Ellen who lead the huge irony that is principal stream of a novel. May stands for 'irony of innocence' and Ellen does for 'absolute innocence'. And each image represents on a display of the front and back of 'innocence' symbolically. The costume design of them was planned along the character which was analyzed and interpreted irony of a drama in a viewpoint of Wharton through this study and expressed with illustration. And using 57cm Porcelain doll, produced a hair-style and costume.
