파우더 블라스팅을 이용한 유리 가공시 실험계획법에 의한 가공면 분석 (Predictive modeling of surface roughness and material removal In powder blasting of glass by design of experiments)

  • The old technique of sandblasting which has been used for paint or scale removing, deburring, and glass decorating has recently been developed into a powder blasting technique for brittle materials, capable of producing micro structures larger than 100um. A large number of Investigations on the abrasive jet machining with output parameters as material removal rate, penetrate and surface finish have been carried out and reported by various authors. In this paper, we investigated the effect of surface characteristics and surface shape of the abrasive jet machined glass surface under different blasting parameter. and finally we established a model for abrasive flow machining process, and compared with experimental results.

  • The environment-friendly abrasive materials of starch series has a wide range of application value such as deburring of plastic injection products, paint exfoliation and surface treatment of painted products and polishing, etc. In this study, an experiment of paint exfoliation was performed by using the environment-friendly abrasive materials made of cheap starch, and its performance was reviewed. By adjusting the grit size of abrasive materials, nozzle pressure, nozzle feed and number of nozzle repetition, paint could be exfoliated effectively. In this experiment, it was found that the most suitable condition was grit size 0.75~1.0 mm, nozzle pressure 0.4 MPa, nozzle feed 5 mm/min and number of processing repetition 2 times.

연마가공 노즐의 성능개선을 위한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of the Performance-Improvement of the Abrasive Blasting Nozzle)

  • An experimental study has been carried out to improve the performance of a commercial abrasive blasting nozzle, by simply redesigning the nozzle's inner contour. The analytical 1-D code, that can evaluate both the frictional effects on the nozzle inner wall and the sphericity effects of the particle, is utilized to calculate the dynamics of the particle inside the nozzle. The analytical results are compared to the experimental ones, that were obtained from images of the particle streaklines downstream from the nozzle exit. It is noted that the particle velocity at the redesigned nozzle exit increases as compared to the original commercial nozzle.

다구찌 기법을 이용한 유리소재의 블라스팅 가공공정의 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimization for the Blasting Process of Glass by Taguchi Method)

  • The powder blasting process has become an important machining technique for the cost effective fabrication of micro devices. This process is similar to sand blasting, and effectively removes hard and brittle materials. A large number of investigations on the abrasive jet machining with such output parameters as material removal rate, penetration and surface roughness have been carried out and reported by various authors. To achieve higher surface roughness, to increase material removal rate and to identify the influence of blasting parameters on the output parameters, we use the taguchi method which is one of the design methods of experiments. We can select process parameters to optimize the blasting process of glass. Experimental results indicate that the taguchi method is useful as a robust design methodology for the powder blasting process.

  • An experimental study of micro blasting for a rotating aluminum rod was conducted through the statistical analysis of ANOVA to obtain the effect of blasting conditions. The rotating equipment was designed and constructed with forward and backward moving for helical blasting, but rotation was used in this study. The blasting condition factors were the type of abrasive particle, nozzle diameter, pressure, standoff distance, injection time, etc. The width of the surface, the maximum depth of the sprayed surface, and ANOVA were analyzed by statistical analysis. The results showed that the contributions of the main factors were pressure, nozzle diameter, and injection particle.

  • In this paper, to improve the efficiency of pressurized pneumatic grit conveying for ship block open blasting process. Pressurized pneumatic grit conveying is defined as the transportation of grit(abrasive) in a compressed air flow. Total Pressure loss in flexible hose for pneumatic conveying is sum of pressure losses due to gas and grit and needle type pressure transmitter for measured pressure loss. haracteristics of grit open blasting by pneumatic conveying were studied experimentally. Studies variables were blasting nozzle ID, length and ID of flexible hose, grit flow rate, flow rate and pressure of transport air. It was experimentally proved that optimal open blasting condition and cost effective operation regarding grit blasting, obtaining a high qulity surface preparation(Sa $2^{\frac{1}{2}}$).

Powder Blasting에 의한 미세 포켓의 기계적 에칭 (Mechanical Etching of Micro Pocket by Powder Blasting)

  • The mechanical etching technique has recently been developed to a powder blasting technique for various materials, capable of producing micro structures larger than 100$\mu$ m. This paper describes the performance of powder blasting technique in micro-pocketing of stainless steel and the effect of the number of nozzle scanning and the nozzle height on the depth and width of pockets. Experimental results showed that increasing the no. of nozzle scanning and decreasing the nozzle height resulted in the increase of depth and width in pockets. Increase of width results from wear of mask film.

Micro Abrasive Jet Machining을 이용한 유리의 미세 홈 가공 (Micro Grooving of Glass Using Micro Abrasive Jet Machining)

  • Abrasive jet machining(AJM) process is similar to the sand blasting and effectively removes hard and brittle materials. AJM has applied to rough working such as debarring and rough finishing. As the need for machining of ceramics, semiconductor, electronic devices and LCD are increasing, micro AJM is developed, and has become the inevitable technique to micromachining. This paper describes the performance of the micro AJM in micro grooving of glass. Diameter of hole and width of line in grooving is 80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Experimental results showed good performance in micro grooving of glass, but the size of machined groove increased about 2~4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. With the fine tuning of masking process and compensation of film wear. this micro AJM could be effectively applied to the micro machining of semiconductor, electronic devices and LCD.

  • The old technique of sandblasting which has been used for decoration of glass surface has recently been developed into a powder blasting technique for brittle materials such as glass, silicon and ceramics, capable of producing micro structures larger than $100{\mu}$ m. This paper describes the performance of powder blasting technique in micro-line grooving of glass and the effect of the number of nozzle scanning on the depth and width of line groove. Experimental results showed that increasing the no. of nozzle scanning resulted in the increase of depth and width in grooves. Increase of width which may cause several problems in the precision machining results from wear of mask film. Therefore, well-controlled masking process is the most important factor for micro machining of glass with accuracy.
