  • The low speed control of a servo motor using instantaneous speed detection method is described. To estimate the instantaneous speed from the average speed, the speed estimator of the first or second order is used. We confirm that these estimatorsimprove the speed control performance of a servo system with experiments.

  • In this paper, a novel speed control algorithm of DC motors is presented. The key contribution here is a simple speed controller only with speed feedback and without an inner current control loop. This is possible by adjusting the reference speed based on a certain rule. Therefore, the proposed speed controller here becomes simpler while maintaining the control performance. Moreover, with the proposed controller, the system response can be tuned with less complexity. This proposed control method is investigated both mathematically and experimentally.

  • This paper describes a control for the high performance induction motor drive system with a wide speed operating range and proposes a robust control method independent of motor parameter variation. For the operation below the rated speed, the high performance control is achieved by using the indirect field-oriented control with a speed sensor. In the high speed regain, the field weakening region with a large variation in motor parameters, the motor drive system can obtain the robustness to motor parameter variation by switchover to the direct field-oriented control. Also, the sensorless speed control using estimated speed is achieved in very high speed region that the utilization of speed sensor pulses is limited. And from experiments using high performance 32bit DSP for 2.2[kW] and 22[kW] laboratory induction motor drive systems, it is verified that the proposed opration algorithm provided a good performance.

  • This paper deals with a control technique of eliminating the transient vibration of a geared mechanical system. This technique is based on a model-based control with a rotational speed sensor in order to establish the damping effect at the driven machine part. A rotational speed sensor is installed in a driven gear, namely a bull gear. A control model is composed of a reduced-order mechanical part expressed as a transfer function between the rotational speed of the motor and that of the bull gear. This control model estimates a load speed after the rotational speed of the bull gear is acted on the transfer function. The difference between the estimated load speed and the motor speed is calculated dynamically and it is added to the velocity command to suppress the transient vibration generated at the load. This control technique is applied to a dies driving spindle of a form rolling machine. In this paper, the performance of this control method is examined by simulations. The settling time of the residual vibration generated at the loading inertia can be shortened down to about 1/2 of the uncompensated vibration level.

  • This paper deals with speed-sensorless control of DC servo motor using Neuro-Fuzzy Observer. DC servo motor has very low rotor inertia and excellent response characteristic and it is very useful to control torque and speed. It is easy to detect the voltage and current and resolver or encoder is used to measure a rotor speed. But it has a limit as a driving speed to detect speed precisely. So it is problem to improve the performance of the driving system. To solve this problem, it is studied to detect a speed of DC servo motor without sensor. In particular, study on the method to estimate the speed using the observer is performed a lot. In this paper, the gain of the observer is properly set up using the Neuro-Fuzzy control and Neuro-Fuzzy Observer that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared the existing method is designed. It calculates the differentiation of the rotor current directly using the rotor current measured in the DC servo motor and estimates the speed of the rotor using the differentiation. Proposed speed sensorless control method is performed using the estimated speed. Also, it is proved feasibility of the proposed observer from the comparison tested a case with a speed sensor and a case without a speed sensor which used a highly efficient drive and 200[w] DC servo motor starting system.

  • This paper presents a digital speed sensorless control system for Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives with direct torque control (DTC). The system consist of stator flux observer, rotor speed estimator, torque estimator two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table. IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31DSP controller by using fully integrated control software. The stator flux observer is based on the combined voltage and current model with stator flux feedback adaptive control that inputs are current and voltage sensing of motor terminal with estimated rotor angle for wide speed range. The rotor speed is estimated by the observed stator flux-linkage space vector. The estimated rotor speed can be determinated by differentiation of the rotor position used only in the current model part of the flux observer for a low speed operating area. In order to prove the suggested speed sensorless control algorithm. There are some simulation and testing at actual experimental system. The developed digitally high- performance speed sensorless control system are shown a good speed control response characteristic results and high Performance features using 1.0Kw RSM.

  • This paper deals with speed-sensorless control of an AC servo motor using Fuzzy-Tuning High Gain Observer(FTHGO). Resolver or encoder can be used to measure a rotor speed, but it has a limit to detect motor speed precisely. To solve this problem, it is studied to measure a speed of an AC servo motor without sensor. In this paper, the gain of an observer to estimate motor speed is properly set up and designed using the fuzzy control theory. It calculates the differentiation of the rotor current of the AC motor and estimates the rotor speed using it. Proposed speed sensorless control is performed using the estimated speed as the control variable. Designed FTHGO is applied to AC servo motor to verify the feasibility of the proposed observer. Feasibility of the FTHGO proposed in this paper is proven comparing the experimental results with/without the speed sensor.

  • For the variable speed in automatic control, this paper describes, at first, performance equations of an induction motor which has the free rotating stator. This motor with rotating stator has a speed control factor itself by equivalent variable frequency in stator side. Secondly, an additional invertor source on the rotor slip ring serves the purpose of improving the speed control factor. The advantages decribed above permit to control the speed continuosly from zero to maximum allowable speed with low energy of thyristor a feed-back device may be used for speed stabilization under variable load.

  • In industry, the speed control of single-phase induction motor in domestic use is generally controlled by a simple ON-OFF or PID control method. However, in this case, in order to have a good speed regulating characteristics, itself should be modified in accordance with the optimum PID factors which are varied each time operating speed changes. Shortening the development time and saving the cost which are needed to modify the controller is a major problem to be solved now in industry. In order to alleviate the above difficulties, it is proposed to apply adaptive control technique using MRFAC(Model Reference Following Adaptive Control) for the speed control of single-phase induction motor which has scarcely been studied. In this paper, the above speed control technique is achieved using MCS-96 one chip micro controller with a good speed control characteristics and it is expetted to open a wide application field in the speed control of single-phase induction motor in the future.
