Measurements of Impervious Surfaces - per-pixel, sub-pixel, and object-oriented classification -

  • The objectives of this paper are to measure surface imperviousness using three different classification methods: per-pixel, sub-pixel, and object-oriented classification. They are tested on high-spatial resolution QuickBird data at 2.4 meters (four spectral bands and three principal component bands) as well as a medium-spatial resolution Landsat TM image at 30 meters. To measure impervious surfaces, we selected 30 sample sites with different land uses and residential densities across image representing the city of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. For per-pixel an unsupervised classification is first conducted to provide prior knowledge on the possible candidate spectral classes, and then a supervised classification is performed using the maximum-likelihood rule. For sub-pixel classification, a Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis (LSMA) is used to disentangle land cover information from mixed pixels. For object-oriented classification several different sets of scale parameters and expert decision rules are implemented, including a nearest neighbor classifier. The results from these three methods show that the object-oriented approach (accuracy of 91%) provides more accurate results than those achieved by per-pixel algorithm (accuracy of 67% and 83% using Landsat TM and QuickBird, respectively). It is also clear that sub-pixel algorithm gives more accurate results (accuracy of 87%) in case of intensive and dense urban areas using medium-resolution imagery.

소아 심장 전산화단층촬영 검사에서 4 chamber의 동시 조영증강 영상에 대한 최적화 방안 (Optimization of the Empirical Method to the Enhancement Image of the Four Chambers at the Same Time in the Pediatric Cardiac Computed Tomography)

  • 본 연구는 소아 심장 전산화단층촬영 검사에서 조영제의 과다 사용을 최소화하며 피폭 선량 저감화를 목적으로 조영제의 주입속도 및 심장 도달 시간 등의 변수를 고려한 스캔 지연 시간을 경험론적 방법으로 수식화함으로써 4개의 심방과 심실이 동시 조영증강 영상을 획득할 수 있는 최적화 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 소아 심장전산화단층 검사를 시행한 소아 환자 30명을 대상으로 정성적 평가, 정량적 평가, 선량평가를 실시하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서 개발한 체중에 따른 조영제 양과 주입속도에 따른 스캔 지연 시간을 계산하는 경험론적 방법을 적용함으로써 왼 오른 심방과 심실의 동시 조영증강에서 소아 심장 판독에 적합한 300 HU 값 이상으로 나타났고 명확성, 선예도, 노이즈에 대한 정성적 영상 평가에서 질적 우수성을 보였으며 선량평가에서도 소아가 받는 피폭선량도 명확하게 감소되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 임상에서 조영제 과다 사용으로 인한 부작용 감소 효과를 기대 할 수 있었으며 방사선 피폭 저감화를 기대 할 수 있는 이점을 가지고 최적의 영상을 만드는데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 판단되었다.

Restoration of Ghost Imaging in Atmospheric Turbulence Based on Deep Learning

  • Ghost imaging (GI) technology is developing rapidly, but there are inevitably some limitations such as the influence of atmospheric turbulence. In this paper, we study a ghost imaging system in atmospheric turbulence and use a gamma-gamma (GG) model to simulate the medium to strong range of turbulence distribution. With a compressed sensing (CS) algorithm and generative adversarial network (GAN), the image can be restored well. We analyze the performance of correlation imaging, the influence of atmospheric turbulence and the restoration algorithm's effects. The restored image's peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index map (SSIM) increased to 21.9 dB and 0.67 dB, respectively. This proves that deep learning (DL) methods can restore a distorted image well, and it has specific significance for computational imaging in noisy and fuzzy environments.

  • It is reasonable to use the stereo vision and image processing technique to digitize 3D coordinates of grid points and to evaluate surface strains on a sheet metal parts. However this method has its intrinsic problems such as the difficulty in enhancement of bad images inevitable error due to digital image resolution of camera and frame grabber unreliability of strains and thickness evaluated from coarse grid on the corner area with large curvature and the limitation of the area that can be measured at a time. Therefore it is still hard to measure strain distribution over the entire surface of a medium,- or large-sized stamped part at a time even by using an automated strain measurement system. In this study the curvature correction algorithm based on the grid refinement and the geometry assembling algorithm based on the global error minimization (GEM) scheme are suggested. Several applications are presented to show the reliability and efficiency of these algorithms.

DICOM 표준 영샹을 위한 이미지 기반의 주석 (An Image-Based Annotation for DICOM Standard Image)

  • 본 논문에서는 DICOM 영상 내에 이미지 기반의 주석을 생성/삽입할 수 있는 새로운 DICOM 객체를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 주석 처리 방법은 이미지 자체를 주석으로 사용하기 때문에 사용자가 입력한 다양한 형태의 정보(문자, 스케치, 그림)를 주석 내에 쉽게 저장할 수 있다. 주석 영상은 원 영상과는 독립적으로 저장/관리 되기 때문에 원 영상에는 전혀 영향을 주지 않고 삽입/추가/변경 등이 가능하다. 또한, 제안된 주석은DICOM영상 내에 직접 저장되기 때문에 PACS/EMR이 설치되어 있지 않은 중소 병원에 매우 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

츠카모토 신야의 <철남(鐵男)>(1989)을 통해 살펴 본 기계적-몸 이미지 (Metal-Body Images in Shinya Tsukamoto's (1989))

  • 본 연구는 츠카모토 신야의 영화 <철남>(1989)의 기계적-몸 이미지에 대한 연구로 탈인간화 하는 몸 그리고 욕망에 대한 해석을 시도 하였다. <철남>에서 살펴본 기계적-몸 이미지는 초현실주의적 이미지, 그로테스크적 이미지, 그리고 에로스적 이미지로 관찰되었다. 기계적-몸의 초현실주의적 이미지는 <철남>의 변화과정에서 보이는 변용, 파괴, 착란, 그리고 환상에 대한 과장으로 파악되었고, 그로테스크적 이미지는 인물의 일상적인 공간에서 기괴한 형태로의 변형으로 인간의 내재된 실체를 보여줌으로써 엽기성과 나약함이 혼합된 이미지로 관찰 되었다. 그리고 에로스적 이미지는 불완전한 존재가 완전함을 추구하고자 하는 욕망에 의해 스스로의 파괴와 재탄생을 이루는 과정에서 나타났다. 위의 세 가지 이미지 유형에 대한 분석은 세계정복을 꿈꾸는 과부화된 인간의 욕망이 탈인간화된 기계적-몸으로서 비유기체로의 시각화로 귀결된다.

종이의 산성화가 미생물의 분해능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the paper acidity on the cellulolytic activity of fungi)

  • The effect of pH on degradation of paper by some fungi, which able to degrade cellulose, was investigated. Trichoderma koningii, Aspergillus nigerand Penicillium nigulosum were cultured at $28^{\circ}C$ for 16 days in the selective medium (PH3, PH4, PH5, PH6, PH7, PH8, PH9, PH10, PHC) containing paper as substrate. Each paper was pretreated with each pH buffer (pH 3∼pH 10, D.W.)prior to addition to the selective medium. Enzyme activities in the each culture medium were measured spectroph to metrically using C.M.C., Avicel, PNPG as the substrates for endoglucanase, exoglucanase and $\beta$-glucosidase, respectively. In all experimental fungi, the enzyme activities of PH3 and PH9 medium were usually much higher than those of other experimental groups. However in the PH6medium, enzyme activity was lower than other groups. To analyze the concentration and pattern of protein in the each culture medium, the medium was concentrated by lyophilization. The protein concentration of PH3 and PH9 medium were relatively high (T.koningii; 6.31mg, 6,19mg, A.niger; 1.62mg, 1.96mg, P.nigulosum;2.50mg, 2.73mg, respectively), but that of PH6 was relatively low. The protein pattern of each medium was analyzed by using SDS-PAGE and VDS Image Master Analysis Program. The concentrations of bands in the each lane were usually high at lane2 (PH3) and lane8 (PH9) and low at lane5 (PH6). Therefore, the incresed cellulolytic activity of fungus against acidified paper could be result of structural change and deterioration of paper caused by being acidified.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the usage of internet advertisement, to define the convenient dimensions of information navigation medium, and to examine the difference of convenient information navigation among advertisement types and information design methods. Thirty-four subjects were selected for the survey study and descriptive anlysis, factor analysis and ANOVA were used for the data analysis. The results of this study were: 1. the most perceived channel about the web site information was the search engine, the most preferred type of information design was the mixed type with text and image, and the most preferred medium for fashion information is the magazine. 2. the convenient dimensions of information navigation medium were information understanding, design composition, easy navigation, timely navigation, and convenient navigation. 3. the information design method is the significant factor influencing on the convenient information navigation.

국내 대중매체에 나타난 옴므파탈 이미지의 패션 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of the Homme Fatale Fashion Image Represented in the Korean Mass Media)

  • The Homme Fatale image, which has recently been brought to the fore by mass media in Korea, leads the public fashion with a strong influence on the preference of females who actively participate in men's fashion, and on the "mansumers"(man+consumer) who would use fashion styles as a medium for self-expression. In this study, the concept and fashion style of the homme fatale image expressed in the Korean mass media are exhaustively explored, and then its expressive characteristics are analyzed to determine the trends of men's fashion in Korea. According to the result of this analysis, the homme fatale image represented in the Korean mass media, shows us with its complex nature that it includes the following characteristics: strong and vigorous masculinity, sensuality which emphasizes physical attractiveness, duplicity of gentle sensibility and coldheartedness, and the mysteriousness of maturity and innocence. In conclusion, the homme fatale image can be thought to present fashion styles which emphasize masculinity and physical attractiveness in a variety of ways.
