It is important to plan and operate various training programs at the national level to develop librarians' job performance expertise and future-oriented capabilities. The purpose of this study was to examine the possibility of introducing a librarian learning community as an training program at a professional education and training institution and to suggest an appropriate operation method. To this end, research was conducted using the following contents and methods: 1) theoretical discussion on program operation such as the concept, operation stages, and types of a librarian learning community through a review of related literature; 2) exploring the possibility of operating a librarian learning community through pilot operation and derivation of implications, 3) proposal of a librarian learning community operation model. This study reviewed the librarian learning community operating model through participant observation and participant opinion collection during the pilot operation process to minimize confusion in the early stages of implementation, and also presented an operational roadmap and support system for the successful establishment of the program in the future. There is a need to further develop the librarian learning community operating model presented in this study through implementation and empirical analysis over the next several years. However, the results of this study will also be useful as an initial operating model for a learning community for professional education and training in other fields.

This research has an intention of developing a professional development program. We proposed an alternative mathematics teacher training model based on the situated learning theory, community of practice, and reflective practitioner. The developed mathematics teacher professional development program recruited participation unit that was consisted of 3 or 4 teachers in same school and total of 28 teachers from 9 schools. Also, there were 18 mentors to support each school. In this sense, it can be called multi-tired teacher community professional development program. Through the program, the teachers improve their teaching competency. Also, the operation ability of teacher learning community was improved. Learning community culture has been formed in each school. It shows ability that the explorative learning community can be operated voluntarily although the program finished. Furthermore, community shared corporate responsibility about open class. They recognize open class as a new method to improve community teaching ability than a tool to evaluate individual teaching ability.

Service-learning is a form of experiential education in which students participate in organized activities and develop a sense of civic responsibility while acquiring content knowledge of the discipline. The purpose of this study was first, to examine the underlying theories and principles of service-learning, and second, to present a case of systemic implementation of problem-based service-learning into a Product Innovation and Management class in higher education. The New Product Development for an E-Commerce Small Business project was developed for a community partner, BevShots, reflecting the needs of the firm, and was tightly woven into the course content. Students' participation in the project had a significant effect on increasing their awareness of the needs in the community and identifying their roles as citizens as well as enhancing their content knowledge learning. The community partner also received benefits for his business by participating in the project. Through this study, we aim to inspire fashion design and merchandising educators to implement service-learning projects/classes in the curriculum.

The purpose of this study is to elaborate design strategies for a Web-based self-directed cooperative distance language learning community. Research was done regarding the theoretical foundations for self-directed cooperative language learning and Web-based learning communities. The components of a Web-based community for self-directed cooperative language learning system are also investigated. As a result of this study, design strategies for Web-based communities are suggested. There are performance and supporting environments(synchronous/asynchronous) for self- directed cooperative language learning. There are also cultural experiences and communication factors in the performance field. Furthermore, matching communicators, finding and offering information, language learning content and other supporting agents are important in the supporting environment.

As the educational paradigm has shifted from the traditional knowledge oriented instruction learning to the knowledge product oriented instructional learning, the development of student's creativity becomes one of the most important educational goals, because the ability that can produce the knowledge creatively is required in the digital information knowledge based society. The purpose of this study is to make a basic direction and strategy for the instructional design to develop an on and off line blended instructional design which will help a learning community to be a more collaborative and creative learning community. This research has investigated the concept and the characteristics of collaborative creativity and creative problem solving as the theoretical basis of the design. After that, on the basis of the theories connected with the collaborative creativity theory, the direction and the strategies for the development of collaborative creativity was designed. The design was applied into the real learning community and finally proved the effectiveness of the learning model for the development of the collaborative creativity by the quantitative evaluation.

In this study, we have developed an online learning community site using Humhub social network software and promote social constructive learning through the questions and answers in subject specific learning groups. By accumulating learning contents which consist of questions and answers about specific topics, learners can acquire knowledge by searching relevant topics and questions and can create and reconstruct knowledge as well as consuming knowledge by participating in self-regulated learning community. We have developed a mathematical editor feature which enables users to enter mathematical expression such as equations and greek characters. Online learning community sites can be used for inquiry based information education.

This study investigated the effectiveness of the learning community for the development of convergence on self-directed learning and problem-solving. One hundred ninety-nine university students participated in the study. In specific, one hundred twenty-three among them participated learning community program at the center for teaching and learning for nine weeks while the others were are not as a control group. Pre-post survey with 62 items was conducted regarding self-directed learning(35 items) and problem-solving(27 items). To analyze the data statistically, ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariate) was used. As results, university students in learning community program showed significant difference in all areas of the survey. In other words, university students in learning community program improved self-directed learning and problem solving more than those who were in the control group. Suggestions and ideas of further studies were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to survey the learner’s need achievement, interest and practical level of the learning objectives according to the teacher’s teaching method in home economics of middle school(Dietary Life Unit), to examine the differences according to the local situation, and to get some information to improve the teaching method. This study surveyed the eight units of dietary life with 459 students in the rural community (224 students) and Seoul(235 Students). The collected data were analyzed by T-test, F-test. To sum up this study are as follows: 1. When the need, achievement, interest and practical level of unit “food”are compared the students of seoul with those of rural community, the student of Seoul show high in “The use of Processed Foodstuffs” and low in “Cooking the Processed Foodstuffs.”The student of rural community show in “A kind of Cooking Method”and low in “Environment and Food Life”. 2. The need, achievement, interest, practical level of the whole unit in rural community is higher than those is Seoul. 3. According to teaching method, comparison Seoul with rural community is revealed as follows. Seoul region is revealed significance to discovery learning in “Cooking Foodstuffs(The achievement and interest level) and ”Environment and Food Life”(interest level). Rural community is revealed significance to discussion learning in “The constituent and Food Life”(The need level, interest level). Rural community is revealed significance to explanation learning in “Environment and Food Life”(The achievement level).

This is a theoretical study of which the goal is to investigate the meaning of a participation metaphor (PM) for learning and draw its implication for teaching and learning science. The review of relevant literature reveals that the PM is associated with the view of learning as ongoing participation in sociocultural practices within a community, and that cognitive apprenticeship is an instructional model related closely to the PM. It is then suggested that a community of learners should be developed if science teaching and learning are to be implemented in line with the PM. Finally, the present study briefly introduces a high school science club as an exemplar of science learning community, including what should be considered in science education research.

Librarians facing the new information environment need to actively cope with knowledge and skills, but librarians in outsourced public libraries are burdened with participation in external education due to concerns about work gaps or inadequate institutional support, making it difficult to continue their education. Therefore, in this study, in order to create an environment in which librarians can grow together, the current status of the activities of the learning community was checked and the effects were identified. An online survey was conducted from May 20 to 22, 2023, targeting librarians who had participated in learning community activities among librarians belonging to the Gangnam-gu Library, and 101 copies were distributed to collect 81 copies and use them as analysis data. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that librarians are satisfied with the activities of the learning community and have a high level of understanding and empathy for their necessity. Therefore, as a way to revitalize the learning community, we propose to form a culture that promotes collaboration among members, share visions and values for learning community activities, and provide institutional support.
