Mechanical Properties of 7000 Series Aluminium Alloys with Scandium Addition (스칸듐을 첨가한 7000 계열 알루미늄 합금의 기계적 특성)

  • The microstructures of self-designed 7000 series Aluminium alloys added with Sc are observed. Moreover, the mechanical properties of the Sc-added Aluminium alloys are evaluated as a function of tensile temperature to establish the conditions of a following extrusion process. New casting conditions in the aluminium alloys added with Sc could be established by changing the casting speed and stirring time in the existing casting conditions of Aluminium alloys. The Sc addition results in $Al_3(Sc,Zr)$ precipitates in the cast alloys, and leads to the formation of equal-axed grains and fine grains. After homogenization heat treatment at $450^{\circ}C$, the Sc-added Aluminium alloys showed the highest elongation values in the temperature ranging from $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$.

  • Magnetically soft nanomaterials obtained by controlled crystallisation of metallic glasses are the newest group of materials for inductive components. In particular, research is carried out in the field of alloys for high temperature applications. This kind of materials must meet two basic requirements: good magnetic properties and stability of properties and structure. In the present work the magnetic properties and structure of Fe-Co-Hf-Zr-Cu-B (HIDTPERM-type) alloys were investigated, as well as their stability. Differential thermal analysis, (DTA), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetometry (VSM) and quasistatic hysteresis loop recording were used to characterise structure and properties of the alloys investigated. Optimisation against properties and their stability was performed, resulting in formulation of chemical composition of the optimum alloy, as well as its heat treatment.

  • The effect of alloying elements on the creep resistance of Zr alloys was investigated using thermal creep tests that were performed as a part of advanced fuel cladding development. The creep tests were conducted at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 150 MPa for 240 hr. A statistical model was derived from the relationship between the steady-state creep rate and the content of individual alloying elements. The creep strengthening effect decreased in the following sequence : Nb, Sn, Mn, Cr, Mo, Fe and Cu. The high creep resistance of Sn and the opposite effect of Fe on zirconium alloys seem to be associated with their lowering and enhancing, respectively, the self-diffusivity of the zirconium matrix.

  • It is well known that thermal plasma process has lots of advantages such as high temperature and good quality for synthesis of nano particles. In this research, we attempt the synthesis of nano unitary and composite powder (Ag, Mg-Al, Zr-V-Fe) using transferred thermal plasma. Nano particles of metal alloy, ranging from 20 nm to 150 nm, have been synthesized by this process.

  • The metallic interconnector has a superior property than the ceramic interconnector in the point of the cell performance, but has problems to form oxide films on the interconnector surface during cell operation and induce cracking in the cell due to the stress by the thermal expansion coefficient difference with stabilized Zr electrolyte. For solving the problems in the metallic interconnector, new and modified materials have been investigated. In this paper, $LaCrO_3$ dispersed Cr was evaluated in high temperature oxidized characteristics, sintering density, electrical conductivity and various thermochemical properties. The test results show that $LaCrO_3$ dispersed Cr has more superior properties than that of conventional alloy interconnector and $LaCrO_3$ dispersed Cr can be used as an interconnector in SOFC.

  • Bonding technology and bonding mechanism of metal to ceramic including brazing, diffusion bonding, friction welding and etc were reviewed in this study. Various factors should be considered from a bonding design step to acquire a good bonding joint because of a large difference between metal and ceramic in crystal lattice, coefficient of thermal expansion and various properties. In addition, metal and ceramic bonding technologies are constantly being developed according to precise components, multi-function and application to harsh environment. However, improvement of bonding properties and bonding reliability also should be accompanied. Bonding of ceramics, such as $ZrO_2$, $Ti_3AlC_2$ and SiC, to metals like Ti-alloy, TiAl and steel were described in this paper.

  • 벌크 비정질 합금의 특성상 점도가 높고, 냉각속도가 빨라 냉각되는 합금의 온도를 직접 측정하는 것은 곤란하므로, 측정에 의하여 냉각속도를 구하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 합금의 온도를 직접 측정하는 대신 금형의 온도를 측정하고, 측정된 금형의 온도를 상용 열해석 프로그램을 이용한3차원 계산 결과와 비교, 보정하는 역문제 기법을 사용하여 Cu계와 Zr계 벌크 비정질합금의 냉각속도를 예측하였다. 예측된 냉각속도는 금형온도와 시편의 두께에 따라Cu계의 경우는 284~300 K/s, Zr계는 279~289 K/s로, 초기 금형온도의 영향은 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 전산모사 결과와 달리 금형을 수냉한 쪽보다 가열한 쪽의 응고중 냉각속도가 빨라 조직이 더 미세한 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 응고중 금형과 주물간에 에어갭의 형성으로 열전달을 방해 받은 영향으로 사료된다.

  • BaZrO$_3$and SrTiO$_3$(STO) thin films were Pulsed laser deposited on biaxially textured Ni and Ni-W alloy substrates to be used as single buffer layer for coated conductor. The texture of the films were analysed using the GADDS (general area detector diffraction system). Both films deposited on the metal tape were strongly (001) oriented, and in-plane textured (Δø (BZO) =9$^{\circ}$, Δø (STO) = 10$^{\circ}$).

  • The purpose of this work is to coat ZrO$_{2}$ - 8Y$_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic on the Al cast alloy(AC-8A) by using the plasma spray method. Two types of coatings which were composed of two and three layer coating were examined. Each coating powder was analyzed for shape and size distribution and X-ray diffraction pattern. For the coated layers, microstructural analysis and performance estimation which was composed of static thermal test, thermal cyclic test and thermal shock test were conducted.

Corrosion Resistance for AZ31 Mg Alloy using Cr-free Conversion Coating (Cr-free 화성처리를 이용한 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 내식성 향상 연구)

  • AZ31 (3% Al, 1% Zn) Mg 판재의 내식성 향상을 위해 Ti/Zr/Polymer 복합계의 Cr-free 화성처리 방법을 이용하였다. 염수분무시험을 통해 최고 72시간 ($5{\sim}10%$ 발청) 내식성이 나타남을 확인하였다. 화성피막의 내식성은 그 피막이 가진 성분, 균일도, 치밀도, 형상 및 두께에 의해 좌우되는 만큼 TEM, SEM을 통해 화성피막 구조가 내식성과 어떠한 관련이 있는지 조사하였다. 또한, 화성처리 전 단계 공정인 탈지와 산세 및 중화 공정의 변수 조절을 통해 전처리 공정이 최종 화성피막의 물성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 조사하였다. 탈지조건을 $35{\sim}40^{\circ}C$, 5분에서 $50{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, $10{\sim}20$분으로 변경 시 좀 더 균일한 외관을 얻을 수 있었고, 적절한 중화제 선택을 통해 화성피막을 균일하게 형성시킬 수 있었다. 투과전자현미경 결과로 미루어 화성피막의 두께보다 균일도와 치밀도가 내식성에 결정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
