CuO띠가 입혀진 ZnO 소결체의 일산화탄소에 대한 선택적 감지 특성 (Selective Sensing of Carbon Monoxide Gas in CuO banded ZnO Ceramics)

  • The purpose of this paper is a investigation of sensing mechanism for the carbon monoxide gas in CuO infiltrated ZnO ceramics. Potential barriers between CuO and ZnO can explain the selective sensing of carbon monoxide gas in the physically contacted CuO/ZnO ceramics. A specimen having no potential barrier between CuO and ZnO was prepared to see whether the gas sensing mechanism is related to the potential barrier. CuO and ZnO was prepared to see whether the gas sensing mechanism is related to the potential barrier. CuO was painted on the non electrode sides of ZnO ceramics. The CuO painted ZnO ceramics showed that the sensitivityfor the carbon moxnoxide gas was 1.3 times as high as that for the hydrogen gas. It is almost same gas sensitivity as that of the CuO infiltrated ZnO ceramics.

  • We investigated a electrical and CO gas sensing properties of pure ZnO and ZnO-ZrO$_2$ composite ceramics. We made 0∼20mo1% ZrO$_2$added ZnO composite ceramics and observed a microstructure of the broken side of the samples. The properties of the samples were studied with temperature, composition, arid a concentration of carbon monoxid. The measured 1000ppm CO sensitivities of pure ZnO were about 1∼1.42, and that of ZnO-ZrO$_2$were about 1∼10.6. In order words, the 1000ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-ZrO$_2$composite ceramics were about 1∼2 times larger than that of pure ZnO with temperature. The measured 250ppm, 500ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-ZrO$_2$composite ceramics were about ∼3.28. ∼5.04, respectively.

  • The lead-free $0.98(Na_{0.5},K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.02Ba(Zr_{0.52},Ti_{0.48})O_3$-(hereafter NKN-BZT) CuO, ZnO-doped ceramics were prepared using a conventional mixed oxide method. NKN-BZT ceramics doped CuO, ZnO have superior structural and electrical properties than pure NKN-BZT ceramics. For the NKN-BZT-ZnO ceramics sintered at $1,120^{\circ}C$, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) of sample showed the optimum values of 172 pC/N. The $0.98(Na_{0.5},K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.02Ba(Zr_{0.52},Ti_{0.48})O_3$-ZnO ceramics are a promising candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials.

  • The $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ ceramics with CuO(1, 3, 5wt%) were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The ceramics were sintered at the temperature of $950^{\circ}C$$1075^{\circ}C$ for 3hr in air The structural properties and the microwave dielectric properties of $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ ceramics were investigated with sintering temperature and the addition of CuO. Increasing the addition of CuO, the peak of second phase($Cu_3Nb_2O_{8}$) was increased. The grain size of the $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ ceramics with CuO was increased with CuO addition at same temperature. The dielectric constant of $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ ceramics with CuO was increased with sintering temperature and CuO addition. While the quality factor of the $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ ceramics with lwt% CuO depended on sinterability, the quality factor of $ZnNb_2O_{6}$ with 3wt% and 5wt% CuO depended on second Phase due to the CuO addition. The optimum dielectric Properties of $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ = 21.73 Q${\times}$f = 19,276 were obtained from the condition of 3wt% CuO addition and sintering temperature of $1025^{\circ}C$(3hr).

Varistor Properties and Aging Behavior of ZnO-V2O5-MnO2-Co3O4-La2O3 Ceramics Modified with Various Additives (Cr, Nb, Dy, Bi)

  • The effects of additives (Cr, Nb, Dy, and Bi) on microstructure, electrical properties, dielectric characteristics, and aging behavior of $ZnO-V_2O_5-MnO_2-Co_3O_4-La_2O_3$ (ZVMCL) ceramics were systematically investigated. The phase formed in common for all ZVMCL ceramics modified with various additives consisted of ZnO grain as a main phase, and $Zn_3(VO_4)_2$ and $ZnV_2O_4$ as the secondary phases. The sintered density and average grain size were in the range of $5.4-5.54g/cm^3$ and $3.7-5.1{\mu}m$, respectively. The ZVMCL ceramics modified with Cr exhibited the highest breakdown field (6,386 V/cm) and the ZVMCL ceramics modified with Nb exhibited the lowest breakdown field (3,517 V/cm). All additives enhanced the nonlinear coefficient (${\alpha}$), by a small or large margin, in particular, additives such as Bi and Nb noticeably increased the nonlinear coefficient, with ${\alpha}=25.5$ and ${\alpha}=23$, respectively. However, on the whole, all additives did not improve the stability against a DC stress, compared with ZVMCL ceramics.

  • We prepared 0~20mo1% WO$_3$added ZnO composite ceramics in order to promote a CO gas sensitivity. Using SE,. we observed the microstructure of sample. The resistances of sample were measured by High Voltage Measure/source Unit in the temperature range of +5V~-5V. The measured 1000ppm CO sensitivities of pure ZnO were about 1~4.3, and the measured 1000ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-WO$_3$composite ceramics were about 1~8.2. Therefore, the 1000ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-WO$_3$composite ceramics were about 2 times larger than that of pure ZnO.

  • Electrical and structural properties were investigated on the effects of ZnO and the lead-free NKN-LST ceramics with the addition of ZnO were fabricated by a conventional mixed oxide method. A gradual change in the crystal and microstructure was observed with the increase of ZnO addition. For the NKN-LST-ZnO ceramics sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$, bulk density increased with the addition of ZnO and showed maximum value at addition 2.0mol% of ZnO. Curie temperature of the NKN-LST-ZnO ceramics slightly decreased with adding ZnO. The dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased at the small amount of ZnO addition, which might be due to the increase in density. The high piezoelectric properties = 153 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor = 0.484 and dielectric constant = 2883 were obtained for the NKN-LST+0.5ZnO ceramics sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2h.

  • In this paper, in order to develop Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, $[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52})-(Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.10}Sb_{0.04})]O_3$ ceramic was fabricated with the variation of ZnO addition. Piezoelectric properties of the ceramic were varied with the amount of ZnO addition and showed the maximum kp value at 0.2 wt% ZnO addition. Qm of ZnO added ceramics showed lower values than the non-added ceramics, however, the kp was increased by the addition of ZnO up to 0.2 wt%. At the sintering temperature of 1110$^{\circ}C$ and the calcination temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of density=473g/$cm^3$, kp=0.473, $\varepsilon_r$=1403 were obtained.

  • Electrical properties of ZnO ceramics based on Bi oxide was investigated in relation to sintering temperature. In the temperature range >$1150^{\circ}C$ to >$1350^{\circ}C$ the grain size increased from 9.mu.m to 20.mu.m when the sintering temperature was raised. The leakage current in the low voltage range increased as the potential barrier decreases, which is caused by increasing the grain size at high temperature. The dielectric characteristics of the ZnO ceramics was also affected by sintering temperature. Large dielectric constant was attributed, to the grainboundary layer of polycrystalline ZnO ceramics and decreasing grainboundary width. The variation of breakdown voltage with sintering temperature was attributed to the change of the donor concentration in the ZnO grain and grain size. The results showed that breakdown voltage increased decreasing grain size and donor concentration. Nonohmic coefficient was associated with the lower breakdown voltage per grainboundary layer due to the grain growth and higher donor concentration.

  • Low-temperature sintering and dielectric properties of the $1-xBiNbO_4-xZnNb_2O_6$ ceramics (x=0.3, 0.5, and 0.7) with 10 wt% zinc borosilicate (ZBS) glass was investigated as a function of the substitution of $ZnNb_2O_6$ with a view to applying this system to LTCC technology. The all composition addition of 10 wt% ZBS glass ensured a successful sintering below $900^{\circ}C$. The the amount of $ZnNb_2O_6$ on $ZnNb_2O_6$ ceramics increased the $Q{\times}f$ values, but it decreased the sinterability and dielectric constant due to the higher $Q{\times}f$ value and sintering temperature of $ZnNb_2O_6$ than that of $ZnNb_2O_6$ ceramics. The increase of $ZnNb_2O_6$ content from 0.3 to 0.7 in the $1-xBiNbO_4-xZnNb_2O_6$ ceramics with 10 wt% ZBS glass sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ demonstrated 30~20 in the dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$), 3,500~4,500 GHz in the $Q{\times}f$ value.
