저압용 SPD가 설치된 전력선통신에서 데이터전송 성능 향상 (A Method for Enhancing Data Transmission Performance in the Power-Line Communication Channel with Low-Voltage Surge Protective Devices)

  • Low-Voltage power lines should equip surge protection devices which protect electronic equipments and human lives against lightning and abnormal voltages. Data transmission capacity of the power line is determined by frequency characteristics of the surge protective devices. To analyze the effects of surge protective devices on the data transmission performance, various combinations of installation methods are tested which include ZnO varistor elements that is compatible with class I, class II and class III. The result claims that ZnO varistor for class III is found to be one of the main factors that deteriorates the transmission performance. To overcome this problem a serial connection methed between Gap type SPD and ZnO varistor is proposed. With the proposed scheme, laboratory experimental results show that the data transmission performance can be improved up to 91.9[%] with proper SPD combination.

란탄니아 첨가량에 따른 Pr계 ZnO 바리스터의 전기적 특성 (The Electrical Characteristics of Pr-Based ZnO Varistors With Lanthania Additives)

  • The effects of lanthania on the microstructure and electrical characteristics of Pr-based ZnO varistors were investigated. The average grain size was increased in the range of 21.9$\sim$56.3${\mu}m$ with increasing lanthania content(0.0$\sim$2.0mol%). La was largely segregated at the grain boundary. As lanthania content increases, threshold voltage and nonlinear coefficient were decreased and leakage current was increased. In particular 2.0mol% lanthania-added varistor exhibited low threshold, voltage 17.0V/mm and nonlinear coefficient of around 6. Based on these results, this varistor can be said to be used as low-voltage varistor, if nonlinear coefficient is somewhat improved forward.

  • 자발착화연소법과 분무열분해법을 동시에 적용한 초음파분무연소법을 이용하여 40~50nm 크기를 갖는 결정성 ZnO 분말을 합성하였다. 또한 바리스터로의 응용을 위해 Bi, Sb, Co, Mn을 초기출발원료인 Zn-nitrate에 첨가하여 복합조성의 ZnO계 바리스터 분말을 합성하였다. 합성된 바리스터의 분말을 성형 및 소결하여 전기적 특성을 관찰한 결과 Co를 첨가한 분말보다 Mn을 첨가한 분말에서 우수한 전기적 특성을 나타내었다.

ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4-Co3O4 바리스터의 결함과 전기적 특성 (Defects and Electrical Properties of ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4-Co3O4 Varistor)

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of Mn and Co co-doping on defects, J-E curves and grain boundary characteristics of ZnO-$Bi_2O_3$ (ZB) varistor. Admittance spectra and dielectric functions show two bulk defects of $Zn_i^{{\cdot}{\cdot}}$ (0.17~0.18 eV) and $V_o^{\cdot}$ (0.30~0.33 eV). From J-E characteristics the nonlinear coefficient (${\alpha}$) and resistivity (${\rho}_{gb}$) of pre-breakdown region decreased as 30 to 24 and 5.1 to 0.08 $G{\Omega}cm$ with sintering temperature, respectively. The double Schottky barrier of grain boundaries in ZB(MCo) ($ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Mn_3O_4-Co_3O_4$) could be electrochemically single type. However, its thermal stability was slightly disturbed by ambient oxygen because the apparent activation energy of grain boundaries was changed from 0.64 eV at lower temperature to 1.06 eV at higher temperature. It was revealed that a co-doping of Mn and Co in ZB reduced the heterogeneity of the barrier in grain boundaries and stabilized the barrier against an ambient temperature (${\alpha}$-factor= 0.136).

유전함수를 이용한 ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4 바리스터의 a.c. 특성 분석 (Analysis of a.c. Characteristics in ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4 Varistor Using Dielectric Functions)

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of Mn dopant on the bulk trap levels and grain boundary characteristics of $Bi_2O_3$-based ZnO (ZB) varistor using admittance spectroscopy and dielectric functions (such as $Z^*,\;Y^*,\;M^*,\;\varepsilon^*$, and $tan\delta$). Admittance spectra and dielectric functions show two bulk traps of $Zn_i^{..}$ (0.20 eV) and $V^{\bullet}_o$ (0.29~0.33 eV) in ZnO-$Bi_2O_3-Mn_3O_4$ (ZBM). The barrier of grain boundaries in ZBM could be electrochemically single type. However, its thermal stability was slightly disturbed by ambient oxygen because the apparent activation energy of grain boundaries was changed from 0.79 eV at lower temperature to 1.08 eV at higher temperature. The grain boundary capacitance $C_{gb}$ was decreased slightly with temperature as 1.3~1.8 nF but resistance $R_{gb}$ decreased exponentially. The relaxation time distribution can result from the heterogeneity of the barriers constituting the varistor. It is revealed that Mn dopant in ZB reduced the heterogeneity of the barrier in grain boundaries and stabilized the barrier against the ambient temperature.

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of Co doping on I-V curves, bulk trap levels and grain boundary characteristics of ZnO-$Bi_2O_3$ (ZB) varistor. From I-V characteristics the nonlinear coefficient (a) and the grain boundary resistivity (${\rho}_{gb}$) decreased as 32${\rightarrow}$22 and 18.4${\rightarrow}0.6{\times}10^9{\Omega}cm$ with sintering temperature (900~1,300$^{\circ}C$), respectively. Admittance spectra and dielectric functions show two bulk traps of zinc interstitial, $Zn_i^{{\cdot}{\cdot}}$(0.16~0.18 eV) and oxygen vacancy, $V_o^{{\cdot}}$ (0.28~0.33 eV). The barrier of grain boundaries in ZBCo (ZnO-$Bi_2O_3-Co_3O_4$) could be electrochemically single type. However, its thermal stability was slightly disturbed by ambient oxygen because the apparent activation energy of grain boundaries was changed from 0.93 eV at the 460~580 K to 1.13 eV at the 620~700 K. It is revealed that Co dopant in ZB reduced the heterogeneity of the barrier in grain boundaries and stabilized the barrier against the ambient temperature.

Pr-첨가 ZnO 바리스터의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of Pr-doped ZnO Varistors)

  • ZnO varistors containing 5.0 at% Co3O4 and Pr6O11, ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 at%, were sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ and 135$0^{\circ}C$. The I-V characteristics and nonlinear coefficients of the specimens were investigated with respect to Pr addition and sintering temperature. In general the specimens sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ showed better varistor characteristic than those fired at 135$0^{\circ}C$, which seemed to be related with the liquid phase formation during sintering. The barrier heights obtained from C-V relations, 0.29-1.36 eV, were different from those acquired using resistivity-temperature plots measured at low voltage per grain boundary. Therefore the estimation of potential barrier heights using C-V relations is better suited for the specimens prepared in this study. The carrier densities obtained using C-V relations were ~1018 cm-3.

  • The structure characteristics of varistor of Zn oxide to depend on the breakdown voltage has been investigated to annealing condition by additive material of Sb$_2$O$_3$ system. The breakdown voltage that has not doping Sb$_2$O$_3$ was 235[V]. ZnO varistors was shown ohmic properties when it's applied voltage was below critical voltage. It was shown non-ohmic properties over critical voltage, because current was increased with decreasing resistance. High voltage ZnO varistors had high breakdown voltage, but it had bad electrical stability with various surge. Sb$_2$O$_3$was increased non-linear coefficient in ZnO varistors grain boundary.

$Nb_2O_5$ 첨가에 따른 바리스터의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of ZnO Varistors with variation of $Nb_2O_5$)

  • ZnO varistor ceramics which were fabricated with variation of added of 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.1mol% $Nb_2O_5$ sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$. In the specimen added 0.05mol% $Nb_2O_5$, sintered density was $5.87g/cm^3$ and electrical properties were superior to any other components. The nonlinear coefficient was 75, and clamping voltage ratio was 1.40. And, endurance surge current in the specimen added 0.05mol% $Nb_2O_5$ was $6500A/cm^2$, and deviation of varistor voltage was -1.7%. As P.C.T and T.C.T environment test were succeed in all specimens, and deviation of varistor voltage in the specimen added 0.3mol% $Nb_2O_5$ was -0.81%. All specimens showed a good leakage current property in the High Temperature Continuous Load Test for 1000hr, at $85^{\circ}C$, and variation rate of the varistor voltage was -1.71%.

  • The varistor properties of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$-CoO-based ceramics doped with Sm$_2$O$_3$were investigated in the addition range of 0.0~2.0 mol% Sm$_2$O$_3$at sintering temperature of 130$0^{\circ}C$ and 135$0^{\circ}C$. As Sm$_2$O$_3$ content is increased, the breakdown voltage was increased in the range of 348.9~521.8 V/mm for ceramics sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ and 8.5~381.3 V/mm for ceramics sintered at 135$0^{\circ}C$. On the whole, the increase of sintering temperature led to the low nonlinearity regardless of Sm$_2$O$_3$content. ZnO-Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$-CoO-based ceramics doped with 1.0 mol% at each sintering temperature exhibited the most superior varistor properties, with the nonlinear exponent of 42.1 at 130$0^{\circ}C$, 36.8 at 135$0^{\circ}C$ and the leakage current of 9.2 $\mu$A at 130$0^{\circ}C$, 11.7 $\mu$A at 135$0^{\circ}C$.EX>.EX>.
