Implementation of a LED light control module using Zigbee (Zigbee를 이용한 LED 조명 제어 모듈 구성)

  • The purpose of this paper was to make a LED light control module using Zigbee. The module was made so that brightness of the LED light changes according to the ambient brightness. A 8-bit microcontroller was used to implement the module to enable LED dimming and wireless light intensity measurement. Using the proposed method, power consumption can be improved by up to 48% on average, with 3.4-0.4W changes in power. The measured ambient light intensity values are converted from analog to digital and outputted as a PWM waveform. According to the output waveform and changes in the current outputted from the LED driver, the brightness of the LED light is controlled. Also, Zigbee with close-range wireless communication capabilities was used to enable wireless transmission of light intensity measurements.

  • This study implemented the LED lighting control system using Zigbee Communication. We designed a desk lamp using LEDs. The PWM signals control LEDs using LED drivers. A desk lamp received PWM signals using Zigbee protocol to control LED Color, Color temperature and brightness. Zigbee protocol that have such several advantages to existent Home network system can upgrade more interface dimension.

  • In this paper, remote control and surveillance monitoring system of HID street-lamp using low-cost type of Zigbee communication module was developed. A plurality of capacitors with different capacity are attached to magnetic ballast for HID lamps. Changes in the amount of illumination can be adjusted by the changes in capacity so that the electric energy can be reduced. In Zigbee communication module, a ATmega128L microprocessor is used and in main CPU, ARM9 Core is used to construct a low-cost smart system. In surveillance monitoring systems, the system was configured to remote monitoring of presence of error in the lamp abnormalities, the status of leakage current and abnormalities of ballasts and capacitors and the validity of the proposed empirical experiment was confirmed.

  • This paper presents an implementation of the Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) and the Wireless Transducer Interface Module (WTIM) architectures based on the new IEEE P1451.5 standard. Proposed architecture is implemented using a computer for NCAP, an FPGA board, a sensor board and two radio modules, which communicate through the ZigBee wireless communication technology between the NCAP and the WTIM based on the IEEE 1451.0 and the IEEE 1451.5 interfaces. In this paper, two experiments has been done to verify operations of proposed architecture. From the experimental results, we verify that the proposed architecture performs the wireless sensor communication functions efficiently.

  • 현재 센서 네트워크 시스템을 이용한 다양한 지능형 응용들에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 일반적으로 센서 네트워크는 환경정보를 수집하기 위해 많이 활용된다. 최근 더욱 상세한 환경 모니터링이나 고품질 데이터에 대한 요구로 인해 멀티미디어 데이터의 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Zigbee 기반 센서 네트워크의 낮은 대역폭의 한계를 극복하고, 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 전송을 위한 라우팅 기법에 대한 연구를 수행한다. 기존에 제안된 멀티미디어 데이터 전송 기법의 경우 비효율적인 다중경로 설정단계로 인해 경로설정 시간의 지연이 발생하고, Zigbee 의 대역폭 한계로 인해 낮은 데이터 전송속도를 보인다. 본 논문은 기존 기법의 대역폭 문제를 해결하는 블루투스와 Zigbee 하이브리드 라우팅 구조를 제안한다. 또한 경로설정 시간 지연 문제를 해결하는 경쟁기반 비-중첩 다중 경로 설정 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법의 우수성을 비교평가하기 위해 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 그 결과 약 78% 지연시간이 감소되었으며, 통신 속도가 약 6.9 배 증가하였다.

  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has a significant attraction throughout various industry sites, along with the development of wireless communication technologies. The typical applications of RFID include medical, logistics, and distribution, and, specially, it is effectively applied to non-contact environments, because it employs radio waves. Although, recently, construction cases of the RFID management systems for the inventory management of the construction materials have been increased, the related researches and experiments for the reused materials are not actively performed. In this paper, we propose the RFID system with the localization function for effectively managing the reuse of the construction materials, adding to the conventional inventory management system. The proposed system consists of a RFID reader unit and a receiver unit, and the location information of the material with the attached RFID tag is obtained by estimating the position of a RFID reader. The distance value for estimating the reader position is calculated using the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) value of Zigbee, and the performance evaluation of the proposed system is performed in the indoor space of $5m{\times}5m$.

  • Zigbee is a universal communication standard used in USN and is utilized in various applications. Zigbee protocol provides an address within a single PAN network, and at this time, it uses DAA. This is a method that divides a 16-bit address area into blocks with a fixed size according to the depth to assign one to each node. However, this method is limited because it has to assign addresses in 16 bits. As the depth increases, the number of nodes also increases exponentially to the maximal number of routers provided to each depth. Therefore, it is difficult to construct a huge network with numerous routers and large depth as in the places which are wide or have many shadow areas. Besides, since all the operations are performed in a single PAN network, it is hard to make several PANs into a single network. This article suggests new addressing and routing methods that can construct several PAN networks into a single network and combine broad area with less limitation in the number of routers and depth by extending the Zigbee-based network. Moreover, this paper has tested its performance and has verified its usability through substantive tests.

  • The coordination of distributed entities and events requires time synchronization. Precision time synchronization enables a variety of extensions of applications and provides much accurate information. The IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) provides a standard method to synchronize devices in a network. This paper deals with the design and implementation of a PTP gateway to extend IEEE 1588 to Zigbee networks. The PTP gateway can not only extend IEEE 1588 to Zigbee networks but also share the same time reference using IEEE 1588 between two or more Zigbee networks. This paper also presents experiments and performance evaluation of time synchronization using the PTP gateway. Our result established a method for nodes in a network to maintain their clocks to within a 300 nanosecond offset from the reference clock of a master node via Ethernet.

  • In order to control moving facilities on a remote place effectively, it are required to acquire a environment informations such as images where the moving facilities are placed. However, since there is no tools to acquire such informations to the central control system based on the non-networked sensor environments, it is difficult to control the moving facilities remotely. Therefore, we design and implement the Zigbee based image transmission system and communication protocol to control the moving target remotely. The wireless control utilizing the Zigbee protocol is that electrically consumption is more small than the Bluetooth and reliability of data transmission is better. The implemented Zigbee based control systems and communication protocol have the normal and replay function for a realtime control of the moving target under the server PC and the mobile FDA with the WiFi protocol. The functional operability and performance are analyzed by a designed prototype under the wireless home network environment.

  • 본 논문에서는 태양광 전원, 배터리, 마이크로터빈, 스마트 홈 등 다양한 목적과 특성을 가진 요소로 구성된 마이크로그리드를 효율적으로 제어, 관리하기 위한 분산 지능형 제어원리를 제안한다. 기존의 중앙집중식 제어원리는 중앙에서 전체 시스템에 대한 정보를 취득하여 운영에 대한 의사결정을 독점하는 구조였다면 제안하는 원리는 마이크로그리드의 구성요소가 각각 지능형 에이전트를 기반으로 스스로 데이터를 취득하고 이웃 에이전트와의 대화와 협조를 통해 분산제어를 수행하는 방식이다. 각 에이전트 사이는 근거리 무선통신 방식인 Zigbee를 이용하였고 마이크로그리드를 실시간으로 해석하기 위하여 MATLAB 기반의 실시간 시뮬레이터를 이용하였다. 실시간 마이크로그리드 시뮬레이션 모델과 에이전트 역할을 하는 마이크로 컨트롤러를 연계하여 Hardware-in-the-loop 기반의 데모시스템을 구축하였고 제안하는 원리에 대해 검증하였다.
