Small Mu-Zero Zeroth Order Resonance Antenna with Parasitic Patch (기생패치를 이용한 소형 뮤-제로 영차공진 안테나)

  • In this paper, a small mu-zero zeroth order resonance(ZOR) antenna based on meta structure is proposed using parasitic patch at 5.8 GHz. The mu-zero ZOR antenna is designed by utilizing the resonance of series inductance and capacitance of mu-negative transmission line and its size can be further reduced by a simple parasitic patch. The parasitic patch can increase series capacitance of mu-negative transmission line related to a resonant frequency. We have simulated and optimized dimension of the parasitic patch using Ansys commercial simulator(HFSS). As a result, the antenna has the following characteristics: kr of 0.59, efficiency of 92 %, and gain of 6.57 dBi. Also, its size is reduced by 24 % compared to a conventional mu-zero ZOR antenna. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.

  • The existence of periodic solutions for the planar Hamiltonian systems with positively homogeneous Hamiltonian is discussed. The asymptotic expansion of the Poincar$\acute{e}$ map is calculated up to higher order and some sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solutions are given in the case when the first order term of the Poincar$\acute{e}$ map is identically zero.

  • Spin Hamiltonian for the paramagnetic center with a three-fold symmetry and high spin ($S{\geq}2$) multiplicity should contain the fourth order zero-field splitting (ZFS) terms. Electron magnetic resonance transition lines of the center with S = 5/2 are expected to split in a pair when the magnetic field is applied off the principal axes of ZFS, while they are superimposed when the magnetic field is applied parallel to the principal axes of ZFS. In this study we report that the transition lines of $Mn^{2+}$ centers at the three-fold symmetric sites in $LiNbO_3$, chemically equivalent but physically different, split in two due to the nonzero fourth order ZFS term.

  • In this paper, a novel type auxiliary active edge resonant snubber assisted zero current soft switching pulse modulation Single-Ended Push Pull (SEPP) series load resonant inverter using IGBT power modules is proposed for cost effective consumer high-frequency induction heating (IH) appliances. Its operating principle in steady state is described by using each switching mode's equivalent operating circuits. The new multi resonant high-frequency inverter with series load resonance and edge resonance can regulate its high frequency output power under a condition of a constant frequency zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation principle on the basis of the asymmetrical pulse width modulation (PWM) control scheme. Brand-new consumer IH products using the proposed ZCS-PWM series load resonant SEPP high-frequency inverter using IGBTs is evaluated and discussed as compared with conventional high-frequency inverters on the basis of experimental results. In order to extend ZCS operation ranges under a low power setting PWM as well as to improve efficiency, the high frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) strategy is demonstrated for high frequency multi-resonant inverters. Its practical effectiveness is substantially proved from an application point of view.

  • 본고를 통해 초고주파 이론과 공학 분야는 물론 물리학, 재료공학의 기초 학문 분야에서도 지대한 관심을 모으고 있는 Metamaterial(MTM) 구조에 대해 조명하고자 한다. 먼저 MTM의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 Left-Handedness(LH) 왼손 전파 법칙과 LH 발생 재질인 Double Negative(DNG) 재질에서의 전파 특성을 상대 유전율과 상대 투자율 평면에서 확인하고, 일반 매질인 Double Positive(DPS)형인 오른손 전파 법칙 Right-Handedness(=RH) 매질과의 결합(Composite Right-and Left-Hnaded=CRLH)에서 얻어지는 특징들을 살펴본다. 특히 DPS와 DNC의 결합에서 얻을 수 있는 음의 공진과 0차 공진(Zero-Order Resonance)을 언급하고 ZOR을 응용한 RF 부품의 소형화와 특성 개선사례를 소개한다. 또한, 안테나와 전자파 산란 특성에 MTM의 특수한 성질을 이용하여, 크기를 줄이거나 표면파를 억제하거나 혹은 방사 개구를 확대 또는 렌즈 특성을 얻어낸 사례도 언급된다 그리고 LH 특성은 아니지만 MTM 계열인 ENG(Epsilon Negative), MNG(Mu Negative), ENZ(Epsilon Near Zero)를 응용한 예들을 보이고, MTM 관점에서 FSS(Frequency Selective Surface )의 특성을 논의하고, 그간에 발표된 대표적 MTM 연구 결과에 대한 소개를 마치고자 한다.

  • This paper describes that the resonant tank type DC-DC converter consist of reactor and capacitor resonant tank circuit for increased the output current. This circuit configuration is composed of the resonant tank circuit used resonant capacitor and reactor and the capacitor connected in switch are a common using by resonance capacitor and ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) capacitor. Therefore, the proposed converter can reduce a switching losses, noise, and voltage stress at turn-on and turn-on and has an advantage which is able to operating safely in load short, because DC reactor is connected with resonance reactor in order to supply a fixed current with low ripple from DC power supply. The analysis of proposed circuit uses normalized parameters and characteristic estimation is generally described the proposed circuit with the characteristics of power and output voltage etc. Also, design is based on the characteristic estmations in each step. Hence, We conform a rightfulness theoretical analysis by comparing a theoretical values and experimental values obtained from experiment.

Miniaturized X-Band Metamaterial Filter for the Ultra-Wide Stopband (차단특성의 초광대역화를 위한 X-밴드용 초소형 메타물질구조 여파기)

  • In this paper, the design of a new bandstop filter with an ultra-wide stopband is proposed using the metamaterial CRLH-TL. Instead of conventional periodic structures and multi-staged CRLH-TLs, extremely small one-cell type is adopted to circumvent the setbacks of conventional filters such as the lengthened ${\lambda}_g/2$-resonator ones or alternating impedance lowpass filter, and relatively slow skirt. Besides, for a very broad stopband, a strong coupling structure including stepped impedances is suggested and the zero-order resonance is made for effective size-reduction. The validity of the proposed design is proven through the fabrication and measurement, showing the overall size less than ${\lambda}_g/10$, the stopband wider than 12 GHz, 0.7 dB of the insertion loss.

  • This paper proposes a Push type High Frequency DC-DC Converter using Zero Voltage Switching to reduce turn on and off loss at the switching instants. This paper has a advantage which is able to operating safely in load short, because DC reactor is connected with resonance reactor in order to supply a fixed safely in load short, because DC reactor is connected with resonance reactor in order to supply a fixed current with low ripple from DC power supply. The capacitor $(C_1, C_2)$ connected in switch are a common using as resonance capacitor and ZVS capacitor. The analysis of the proposed high frequency resonance DC-DC converter is generally described by using normallized parameter, and we has evaluated characteristic values which is needed to design a circuit. We conform a rightfulness of theoritical analysis by comparing a theoretical values and experimental values obtained from experiment using MOSFET as switching devices.

  • This paper presents a novel bandpass filter design method for suppressing spurious response in the GSM band and effectively reducing the overall size with the unbalanced-conditioned metamaterials. Compared to the conventional bandpass filters based on half-or quarter-wave resonators, the CRLH(composite right/left-handed) bandpass filter works excellently in harmonic-suppression by 40$\sim$50 dB and 80 %-miniaturization using the zero-order resonators bridged by Inductive-coupling Inverters suggested first time. The proposed technique, with the equivalent circuit and dispersion diagram, is validated by performance predictions and experiments.

A Novel Compact Metamaterial Zeroth Order Resonant Bandpass Filter for a VHF Band and Its Stopband Improvement by Transmission Zeros

  • A novel compact and low-loss VHF bandpass filter is presented with enhanced stopband performance using metamaterial zeroth order resonator (ZOR) characteristics. An in-line ZOR filter is initially suggested and changed to have transmission zeros (TZs) due to source-load coupling for effective improvement of the isolation from UHF wireless channels. The proposed filter is smaller than 1/10 of the conventional filters in terms of size and has relatively very low insertion loss (< 1 dB for the electromagnetic (EM) simulation and < 3 dB for the measurement) and return loss (<-20 dB) in the passband due to the approximately 80% size reduction and the higher isolation in the stopband due to the TZs. The circuit and EM simulation are in good agreement with the measurements.
