This paper proposes an on-board orbit data generation algorithm for geostationary satellites. The concept of the proposed algorithm is as follows. From the ground, the position and velocity deviations with respect to the assumed reference orbit are computed for 48 hours of time duration in 30 minutes interval, and the generated data are up-loaded to the satellite to be stored. From the table, three nearest data sets are selected to compute position and velocity deviation for asked epoch time by applying $2^{nd}$ order polynomial interpolation. The computed position and velocity deviation data are added to reference orbit to recover absolute orbit information. Here, the reference orbit is selected to be ideal geostationary orbit with a zero inclination and zero eccentricity. Thanks to very low computational burden, this algorithm allows us to generate orbit data at 1Hz or even higher. In order to support 48 hours autonomy, maximum 3K byte memory is required as orbit data storage. It is estimated that this additional memory requirement is acceptable for geostationary satellite application.

In this paper we dicuss the dither-stripping methods by V-F(voltage to frequency) conversion of the output of angular velocity sensor which is for detecting the dither motion of the ring laser cavity. In this case, it is very important to evaluate the pulse-to-pulse scale factor between the ring lase output pulse and V-F output pulse, and also to compensate the zero offset of the V-F output pulse. In the case of the dither-stripping by the V-F conversion of angular velocity sensor output, there is a big angle uncertainty in the process of compensating the zero offset due to the dither noise for compensating the V-F output. By differential, the phase of the V-F output is changed. So, to compensate it, we change 90deg of the phase of angular velocity sensor output and delay half sampling time of the phase of ring laser output in advance. In this case the pulse-to-pulse scale factor can be evaluated by the standard deviation of each pulse. We can get the good result of the dither-stripping output by this angle differential method.
To overcome disadvantages of conventional two interconnected fluidized beds system, a novel two-interconnected fluidized bed process has been adopted to 3kW chemical-looping combustor. This system has two bubbling beds, solid injection nozzles, solid conveying lines, and downcomers. In this study, effects of operating variables such as gas velocity through the solid injection nozzle, fluidizing velocity, solid height, geometry of solid intake hole, bed temperature on solid circulation rate have been investigated in a 3kW chemical-looping combustor. The solid circulation rate increased as the solid height and the opening area of solid intake holes increased. The effect of the fluidizing velocity and the bed temperature were negligible. Moreover, long-term operation of continuous solid circulation up to 50 hours has been performed to check feasibility of stable operation. The pressure drop profiles in the bubbling beds and the downcomers were maintained steadily and solid circulation was smooth and stable.

A modified model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary layer flows. In order to develop the eddy viscosity model for the problem, the flow is divided into three regions; namely, pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The pre-transition eddy-viscosity is formulated by extending the mixing length concept. In the transition region, the eddy-viscosity model employs two length scales, i.e., pre-transition length scale and turbulent length scale pertaining to the regions upstream and the downstream, respectively, and a universal model of stream-wise intermittency variation is used as a function bridging the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. The proposed model is applied to calculate three benchmark cases of the transitional boundary layer flows with different free-stream turbulent intensity (1%∼6%) under zero-pressure gradient. It was found that the profiles of mean velocity and turbulent intensity, local maximum of velocity fluctuations, their locations as well as the stream-wise variation of integral properties such as skin friction, shape factor and maximum velocity fluctuations are very satisfactorily predicted throughout the flow regions.

A ground moving target's velocity estimation algorithm applicable for a SAR-GMTI system using 2 channel displaced phase center antenna(DPCA) is proposed. In this algorithm, we assume target's across-track velocity can be estimated by along-track interferometry (ATI) and present a method to estimate target's along-track velocity. To accomplish this method, we first transform a radar-target geometry in which a moving target has zero velocity via altering a radar velocity such that target's velocity is reflected into it and next manipulate the spectral centers of the subapertures within the synthetic aperture. The validity of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through simulation results showing the performance of the target's velocity estimation and the enhancement of reconstructed target image quality in terms of resolution and SINR.

Since conventional computer program is workable only with velocity boundary condition, in practical fluid passage such as clean room which usually have wide inlets and outlets, it is not easy to measure velocity itself because of its vector property. Furthermore a certain assumption of velocity at boundaries may lead to physically unreasonable results. From this motivation, we have developed a computer program to predict whole flow field imposed on pressure-based boundary condition which can be measured by relatively simple method. The only additional velocity boundary condition that should be imposed on to make the problem unique, are no slip condition at all walls and zero cross stream velocity at inlet. The result of present study was compared with that by Bernoulli equation being used practically. They were coincident well each other within 5%, therefore the validity of the present method is proved. In the present work, the flow field in a clean room subject to pressure-based boundary conditions at an inlet and two exits was predicted numerically. The pressure difference between the inlet and the left exit which keeps relatively low pressure among two exits is fixed as 150[Pa] and the pressure at the right exit is varied from zero to 150[Pa] by the increment of 25[Pa]. For each cases the flow characteristics in the clean room, the velocity profile at the inlet, and the flow rate through the two exits was predicted. The flow rate through the right exit imposed on relatively higher pressure than the left exit decreased linearly according to the increase of pressure of the right exit. When the pressure of the right exit is increased enough to cause back flow at the exit, the flow rate is rapidly decreased.
The basic building block of solar filaments/prominences is thin threads of cool plasma. We have studied the spectral properties of velocity threads, clusters of thinner density threads moving together, by analyzing a sequence of $H{\alpha}$ images of a quiescent filament. The images were taken at Big Bear Solar Observatory with the Lyot filter being successively tuned to wavelengths of -0.6, -0.3, 0.0, +0.3, and +0.6 ${\AA}$ from the centerline. The spectra of contrast constructed from the image data at each spatial point were analyzed using cloud models with a single velocity component, or three velocity components. As a result, we have identified a couple of velocity threads that are characterized by a narrow Doppler width($\Delta\lambda_D=0.27{\AA}$), a moderate value of optical thickness at the $H{\alpha}$ absorption peak($\tau_0=0.3$), and a spatial width(FWHM) of about 1". It has also been inferred that there exist 4-6 velocity threads along the line of sight at each spatial resolution element inside the filament. In about half of the threads, matter moves fast with a line-of-sight speed of $15{\pm}3km\;s^{-1}$, but in the other half it is either at rest or slowly moving with a line-of-sight velocity of $0{\pm}3km\;s^{-1}$. It is found that a statistical balance approximately holds between the numbers of blue-shifted threads and red-shifted threads, and any imbalance between the two numbers is responsible for the non-zero line-of-sight velocity determined using a single-component model fit. Our results support the existence not only of high speed counter-streaming flows, but also of a significant amount of cool matter either being at rest or moving slowly inside the filament.
Mechanical tappet is used to reduce the cost and friction loss compared with hydraulic tappet. But the mechanical tappet doesn't have the ability to control the clearance between cams and valves and is selected by measuring the distance between valves and cams in order to minimize the clearance of valves by considering thermal expansion of valves. So, the valve clearance is nearly zero after fully warming-up periods, but there is valve clearance before warming-up. Especially at cold condition, the clearance is relatively large and can bring about some problems. In this study, the valve motions like lift, velocity, seating velocity and bouncing height were studied at various valve clearance conditions by experiment and analysis. As the valve clearance increases, the ramp area becomes shorten and it causes the valve train motion to have bad effects.
Double shelf topography allows the existence of two sets of waves propagating in opposite directons. In the case that two shelves are apart sufficiently enough, the solutions show two independent sets of waves which recover the single shelf waves. However, if the distance between two shelves is less than the Rossby deformation radius, the waves become dependent on the geometry of both shelves. Even over a double shelf topography, shelf waves propagate with the shallow water to the right in the Northern Hemisphere. The group velocity of shelf wave has the same direction as phase velocity in the long wave case, but the opposite direction in the short wave case. Each shelf mode has a zero group velocity at some intermediate value of wave length.

The understeer characteristics of four wheel steering system(4WS system) in a high speed region have a negative effect upon the yaw velocity, leading to a decrease in the handling ability of vehicle. As a result, even if the side slip angle of vehicle can be kept up a minimum, a driver must compensate a decrease in yaw velocity by increasing the steering wheel angle in order to track the desired vehicle path. In this study, to keep the side slip angle of vehicle at zero and achieve a suitable yaw velocity in vehicle motion, a full active 4WS system(FA 4WS system) with actively steerable front and rear wheels is presented based on a nonlinear vehicle model and a model following control of yaw velocity. And the analysis results show the fat that, besides the excellent stability of vehicle, the FA 4WS system is able to realize better handling performance of vehicle than the previous 4WS systems in the high speed region.
