A stereo vision system such as the structure of human's eyes has two cameras at separated positions from which we can obtain two input images and then put them together to create 3-D image. It can show more virtual effect than the conventional 2-D image system. But, the stereo image system has to control the convergence angle so that the stereo disparity could always be zero because observers can be fatigued and unconscious of stereo image in conditions that the stereo disparity is not zero for a long work. Therefore, in the paper, optical JTC system which can process adaptive tracking of a specific moving object is proposed as a new approach to keep the stereo disparity to be zero. In this method, optical JTC system obtains the values of the relative locations of a moving objects in left and right images and then these values are used for maintaining the stereo disparity to be zero. Through some optical experiments the proposed stereo vision system is proved to be insensitive to background noises and operate in real-time.

In this paper it was proposed method that solve problems of method to segment region of zero disparity and algorithm that extract binocular disparity to estimate position of object by vergence movement of moving stereo cameras experimented to compare those. There was not change of density value almost in region that change of critcal value was not found almost in image, because a high critical value was set so that critical value may be kipt changelessly about all small regions in studied treatise so far. The corresponding points were extracted wrongly by the result. By because the characteristics of small region was evaluated by autocorrelation and the critical value was established that may be proportional to the autocorrelation value, it was confirmed that corresponding points are not extracted almost by mistake and binocular disparity could by extracted with high speed.
This paper presents the active eye system for tracking a moving object in 3D space. A prototype system able to track a moving object is designed and implemented. The mechanical system ables the control of platform that consists of binocular camera and also the control of the vergence angle of each camera by step motor. Each camera has two degrees of freedom. The image features of the object are extracted from complicated environment by using zero disparity filtering(ZDF). From the cnetroid of the image features the gaze point on object is calculated and the vergence angle of each camera is controlled by step motor. The Proposed method is implemented on the prototype with robust and fast calculation time.

3DTV is expected to be a promising next-generation broadcasting service. On the other hand, the visual discomfort/fatigue problems caused by viewing 3D videos have become an important issue. This paper proposes a perceptual quality assessment metric for a stereoscopic video (SV-PQAM). To model the SV-PQAM, this paper presents the following features: temporal variance, disparity variation in intra-frames, disparity variation in inter-frames and disparity distribution of frame boundary areas, which affect the human perception of depth and visual discomfort for stereoscopic views. The four features were combined into the SV-PQAM, which then becomes a no-reference stereoscopic video quality perception model, as an objective quality assessment metric. The proposed SV-PQAM does not require a depth map but instead uses the disparity information by a simple estimation. The model parameters were estimated based on linear regression from the mean score opinion values obtained from the subjective perception quality assessments. The experimental results showed that the proposed SV-PQAM exhibits high consistency with subjective perception quality assessment results in terms of the Pearson correlation coefficient value of 0.808, and the prediction performance exhibited good consistency with a zero outlier ratio value.
Human visual system infers 3D vision through stereo disparity in the stereoscopic images, and stereo visioning are recently being used in consumer electronics which has resulted in much research in the application field. Basically, stereo vision system consists of four processes, which are cost computation, cost aggregation, disparity calculation, and disparity refinement. In this paper, we present and evaluate the existing various methods, focusing on cost aggregation for stereo vision system to comparatively analyze the performance of their algorithms for a given set of resources. Experiments show that Normalized Cross Correlation and Zero-Mean Normalized Cross Correlation provide higher accuracy, however they are computationally heavy for embedded system in the real time systems. Sum of Absolute Difference and Sum of Squared Difference are more suitable selection for embedded system, but they should be required on improvement to apply to the real world system.

In the three-dimensional image system using stereoscopic images, efficient coding schemes which can get rid of redundancy between the left and right images are usually used. In this paper, we propose an efficient coding method by using relationship between a reference image and residual image. In the proposed algorithm, zero-tree method which guaranty a good quality in low bit rate is used for encoding the residual image. Zero-tree algorithm gives good coding performance, but it has computational complexity so that we used ADLS method to reduce time for the disparity estimation. Using the wavelet based zero-tree method, it is shown that high quality of image in the limited band-width can be preserved through computer simulation.

Active stereo vision system allows us to localize a target object by passing only the features of small disparities without heavy computation for identifying the target. This simple method, however, is not applicable to the situations where a distracting background is included or the target and other objects are located on the zero disparity area simultaneously To alleviate these problems, we combined filtering with foveation which employs high resolution in the center of the visual field and suppresses the periphery which is usually less interesting. We adopted an image pyramid or log-polar transformation for foveated imaging representation. We also extracted the stereo disparity of the target by using projection to keep the stereo disparity small during tracking. Our experiments show that log-polar transformation is superior to either an image pyramid or traditional method in separating a target from the distracting background and fairly enhances the tracking performance.
Purpose - This study examines the effect of control-ownership wedge on stock crash risk. In Korea, controlling shareholders have exclusive control rights compared to their cash flow rights. With increasing disparity, controlling shareholders abuse their power and extract private benefits at the expense of the minority shareholders. Managers who are controlling shareholders of the companies tend not to disclose critical information that would prevent them from pursuing private interests. They accumulate negative information in the firm. When the accumulated bad news crosses a tipping point, it will be suddenly released to the market at once, resulting in an abrupt decline in stock prices. We predict that stock price crash likelihood due to information opaqueness increases as the wedge increases. Research design, data, and methodology - 831 KOSPI-listed firm-year observations are from KisValue database from 2005 to 2011. Control-ownership wedge is measured as the ratio (UCO -UCF)/UCO where UCF(UCO) is the ultimate cash-flow(control) rights of the largest controlling shareholder. Dependent variable CRASH is a dummy variable that equals one if the firm has at least 1 crash week during a year, and zero otherwise. Logistic regression is used to examine the relationship between control-ownership wedge and stock price crash risk. Results - Using a sample of KOSPI-listed firms in KisValue database for the period 2005-2011, we find that stock price crash risk increases as the disparity increases. Specifically, we find that the coefficient of WEDGE is significantly positive, supporting our prediction. The result implies that as controlling shareholders' ownership increases, controlling shareholders tend to withhold bad news. Conclusions - Our results show that agency problems arising from the divergence between control rights and cash flow rights increase the opaqueness of accounting information. Eventually, the accumulated bad news is released all at once, leading to stock price crashes. It could be seen that companies with high control-ownership wedge are likely to experience future stock price crashes. Our study is related to a broader literature that examined the effect of the control-ownership wedge on stock markets. Our findings suggest that the disparity is a meaningful predictor for future stock price crash risk. The results are expected to provide useful implications for firms, regulators, and investors.

In this paper, a new stereo matching algorithm is proposed which uses th econstrainted optimization technique and the matching measures between the segments extracted from zero-crossing edges. The initial matching measures and average disparities are calculated by the features of segments on the searching window of the left and right images. The matching measure is calculated by applying an exponential function using the differences of slope, overlapped length and intensity. The coherency constraint is that neighbouring image points corresponding to the same object should have nearly the same disparities. The matching measures are iteratively updated by applying the coherency constraint. Simulation results on various images show that the proposed algorithm more acculately extracts the segment disparity.
This study was aimed to analyze the disparities of 3D stereoscopic images in four well-known American animation movies. After Avatar (2009), lots of stereoscopic movies were developed in Korean 3D production. Almost all 3D productions in Korea, however, focus on the display images or TV series animation yet. In order to make many well-made Korean stereoscopic 3D animations in future, analyzing and comparing the disparities of 3D stereoscopic images is necessary and even mandated. First, I chose 40 cuts from each four American stereoscopic 3D feature films, including Despicable me 2, Epic, Monster University, and Turbo. According to the classifications of shot angles by Vineyard (2008), secondly I analyze the 23 different angular disparities of 3D stereoscopic images and displayed in tables. Demonstrated shot angle disparities in each scene would provide numerical information to animators how to design and make the 3D stereoscopic images. Making successful stereoscopic 3D feature film will be a huge turning point in the Korean animation field in future. This study would be a first trial to seek a new method to set ahead an outlook of numerical values of 3D stereoscopic images for better visual effects.
