  • Physical properties of composite resins such as strength, resistance to wear, discoloration, etc, depend on the degree of conversion of the resin components. The clinical behavior of restorative resins varies brand to brand. Part of this variation is associated with the filler and differences in the polymer matrix. The polymer matrix of resins may differ because the involved monomers are dissimilar and because of variation in the catalyst system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the degree of conversion of the composite resins according to the depth of cure and light curing time. 7mm diameter cylindrical aluminum molds were filled with each of five different hybrid light curing composite resins(Z-100, Charisma, Herculite XRV, Prisma TPH, Veridonfil) on the thin resin films. The molds were 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm in depth to produce resin films of various heights. Each sample was given 20sec, 40sec, and 60sec illumination with a light source. The degree of conversion of carbon double bonds to single bonds in the resin films was examined by means of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer. The results were obtained as follows; 1. There was difference in the degree of conversion among five light curing composite resins according to the depth of cure for 20sec, 40sec, and 60sec illumination with light source with statistical significance(P<0.05). 2. Five light curing composite resins show lower degree of conversion at surface of the resin than depth of 1mm. 3. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins was siginificantly reduced from the maximum for the resin film when the light passed through as little as 1mm of each composite. 4. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins decrease significantly at the depth of 4mm, and polymerization was not occured at the depth of 5mm except for Prisma TPH. 5. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins was increased with increased light curing time, and there was no significant differences in the degree of conversion above 4mm in Z-100, 3mm in Charisma, and at depth of 5mm in Herculite XRV and Veridonfil(P>0.05).

  • Recently, newly developed single high-intensity LED curing lights for composite resins are claimed to have a higher intensity than previous LED curing lights and to results in optimal properties and short curing time. The purpose of this study was to determine the curing effectiveness of the curing units and to evaluate the relationship between the degree of polymerization and distance from curing light tip end to resin surface. One composite resin was tested(Filtek Z250). Thin film specimens were cured with a LED curing unit(Elipar Freelight 2, 10s), Plasma Arc curing unit(Flipo, 6s), Halogen curing light(XL3000, 20s) at four curing light tip to the resin surface(0mm, 2mm, 4mm, 6mm). Degree of conversion of composite resins were determined by a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR). From the present study, the following results were obtained. 1. In all curing units, relative light intensity was significantly decreased according to the increase of distance of light tip to the resin surface(p<0.05). LED curing units showed a higher percentile decrease in intensity than other curing units. 2. In all curing units, degree of conversion was decreased as increase of the distance but no statistically significant difference(p>0.05) except between 4mm and 6mm(p<0.05). 3. When comparing degree of conversion of light curing units at each distance(0mm, 2mm, 4mm, 6mm), LED curing light had a higher degree of conversion than plasma arc and halogen curing lights at 0, 2, 4mm(p<0.05). At 6mm, there was a no significant difference among the curing units(p>0.05).

  • The Talbot effect for periodic objects with the spatial period p illuminated by expanded coherent light is analyzed by Fresnel diffraction theory, and the Talbot distance (Zr) at which we can observe 1: 1 imaging without any lenses can be defined. We confmned experimentally the Talbot imaging of line, circular, X -type and '||'&'||'copy;-type 2 dimensional alTay gratings at ZT. At the same time, we observed phase reversed Talbot imaging at Zr/2 and Talbot subimage with p/2 at Zr/4 and 3Zr/4. The visibility of Talbot images as a function of the number of slits of the input grating was measured by the FFf (Fast Fourier Transform) results of these images. As a result stationary maximum visibility of V = 0.25 was obtained from grating numbers with more than 15 slit pairs.

  • This paper presents a tapered slot-antenna(TSA) for optimal impulse-signal transmission in ultra-wide band(UWB). The proposed TSA provides radiates in end-fire direction, which meets an impulse-radio UWB(IR-UWB) system demands(e.g., low loss, thus less error throughout the UWB band). In order to minimize the pulse distortion, we used an wideband impedance transformer and a microstrip slotline. The pulse fidelity characteristics was evaluated with finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) analysis technique and pulse fidelity correlation equation. Approximately 93.89 % pulse fidelity was obtained between the two antennas in 0.5 m range. Additionally, derived chirp Z-transform algorithm enables us to utilize the zoom-in option on the pulse signal in few nano-seconds below. Thus, it is possible to analyze the pulse signal distortion, delay or dispersion characteristics.

  • This paper designed and fabricated the printed dual monopole antenna with CPW feeder for PCS and UWB(Ultra-Wide Band) band. In this paper, modified dual monopole antenna is proposed transform conventional monopole antenna to get dual band frequency. The dual monopole antennas have dual band, broad bandwidth and omni-directional radiation patterns, as it is the conventional monopole antenna. As one monopole operated a stub to match feed line with antenna, we are obtained easy an ideal impedance matching. It is increased band width of impedance. The antenna bandwidth is about 1350MHz (1.69~2.04[GHz]z]) at 1st resonance frequency, 2,670MHz (4.33~6[GHz]) at 2nd, resonance frequency, and, 3,980MHz (6.1~10.08[GHz]) at 3th resonance frequency on VSWR$$\leq_-$$2, and then we can be got not only 1.75~1.87 [GHz] PCS band but also, UWB band.

  • In this paper, we propose the architecture of an IPM based lane detector for autonomous vehicles to detect and control the driving route along the curved lane. In the IPM image, we divide the area into two fields, Far/Near Field, and the lane candidate region is detected using the Hough transform to perform the matching for the curved lane. In autonomous vehicles, various algorithms must be embedded in the system. To reduce the system resources, we proposed a method to minimize the number of memory accesses to the image and various parameters on the external memory. The proposed circuit has 96% lane recognition rate and occupies 16% LUT, 5.9% FF and 29% BRAM in Xilinx XC7Z020. It processes Full-HD image at a rate of 42 fps at a 100 MHz operating clock.

  • ZSphere of ZBrush can be added to the canvas, and most of all, added to the existing ZSphere as mobile geometrical objects. For example, arms can be produced out of the globoid in the progress of an intermediate step. characters with multiple limbs can be produced easily in this way. With Zsphere, several Child Spheres can be produced out of single Sphere, then these can be parents spheres, and can connect other Child Spheres. In this paper, by making each form through these processes, 3D characters were modeled to shape easily and rapidly. Since 3D objects can be added, rotated, and moved, they can interact smoothly with Z-depth of campus. To place these objects on the screen, paint, build fixed perspective image, smerge pixols and transform 3D objects, diverse transforming tools and sculpturing tools were used. The characters were designed in the way that first, the finished 3D characters were transformed into poly, then each side was restructured rapidly with Topology.

  • The purpose of the brain-computer (machine) interface (BCI or BMI) is to provide a method for people with damaged sensory and motor functions to use their brain to control artificial devices and restore lost ability via the devices. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a method of applying low level electrical currents to the body to restore or to improve motor function. The purpose of this study was to develop a SSVEP-based BCI rehabilitation training system with FES for spinal cord injured individuals. Six electrodes were attached on the subjects' scalp ($PO_Z$, $PO_3$, $PO_4$, $O_z$, $O_1$ and $O_2$) according to the extended international 10-20 system, and reference electrodes placed at A1 and A2. EEG signals were recorded at the sampling rate of 256Hz with 10-bit resolution using a BIOPAC system. Fast Fourier transform(FFT) based spectrum estimation method was applied to control the rehabilitation system. FES control signals were digitized and transferred from PC to the microcontroller using Bluetooth communication. This study showed that a rehabilitation training system based on BCI technique could make successfully muscle movements, inducing electrical stimulation of forearm muscles in healthy volunteers.

  • Solar variability is widely known to affect the interplanetary space and in turn the Earth's electromagnetical environment on the basis of common periodicities in the solar and geomagnetic activity indices. The goal of this study is twofold. Firstly, we attempt to associate modes by comparing a temporal behavior of the power of geomagnetic activity parameters since it is barely sufficient searching for common peaks with a similar periodicity in order to causally correlate geomagnetic activity parameters. As a result of the wavelet transform analysis we are able to obtain information on the temporal behavior of the power in the velocity of the solar wind, the number density of protons in the solar wind, the AE index, the Dst index, the interplanetary magnetic field, B and its three components of the GSM coordinate system, $B_X$, $B_Y$, $B_Z$. Secondly, we also attempt to search for any signatures of influence on the space environment near the Earth by inner planets orbiting around the Sun. Our main findings are as follows: (1) Parameters we have investigated show periodicities of ~ 27 days, ~ 13.5 days, ~ 9 days. (2) The peaks in the power spectrum of $B_Z$ appear to be split due to an unknown agent. (3) For some modes powers are not present all the time and intervals showing high powers do not always coincide. (4) Noticeable peaks do not emerge at those frequencies corresponding to the synodic and/or sidereal periods of Mercury and Venus, which leads us to conclude that the Earth's space environment is not subject to the shadow of the inner planets as suggested earlier.

  • This paper proposes a color-matching 3D look-up table that simplifies the complex color-matching procedure between a monitor and a mobile display device, where the image colors are processed in a device-independent color space, such as CIEXYZ or CIELAB, and gamut mapping performed to compensate the gamut difference. The transform from a device-dependent RGB color space to a device-independent color space is implemented by performing display characterization. The mobile LCD characterization error using the S-curve model is larger than the tolerance error since the mobile LCD has the channel-chromaticity-inconstancy and channel-dependence characteristics. In this paper we reduced the characterization error using the electro-optical transfer functions of X, Y, and Z value for R, G, B, C, M, Y, K components. Experimental results demonstrated that 64 ($4{\times}4{\times}4$) was the smallest size of color-matching look-up table that could produce an image with an acceptable reproduction error, based on a comparison of color-matched images resulting from the proposed color-matching look-up table and complex step-by-step color-matching procedures.
