Objectives This study is about a "Taeumin" parkinson's disease patient with bradykinesia, tremor, weakness and dysautonomia etc. In this case, we evaluated the effect of Yuldahanso-tang gagam for parkinson's disease. Methods This patient was treated by Sasang constitutional herbal medication based on "Donguisusebowon". Acupuncture and west medications were used together. We evaluated the clinical progress through two methods, DITI(Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging) and VAS(Visual Analogue Scale). Results During 11months treatment, chief complaints and symptoms of this patient were improved. Conclusions This study shows that Yuldahanso-tang gagam is an effective treatment for "Taeumin" parkinson's disease patients.

1. Objectives: Three herbal formulas (Yuldahanso-tang, Chungsimyonja-tang, and Taeeumjowi-tang) for Taeeumin were applied to investigate the immunological activities on antigen (Ag)-specific or Ag-non-specific immune responses in murine macrophage cell line (RAW 264.7) and ovalbumin (OVA)-immunized mice. 2. Methods: This study was carried out in nitric oxide (NO) synthesis in RAW 264.7 cells and cellular proliferation in mouse splenocytes according to three herbal formulas. C57BL/6 mice were immunized intraperitonially with OVA/aluminium ($100\;{\mu}g/200\;{\mu}g$/mouse) on day 1, 8, and 15. Three herbal formulas were administrated to mice orally for 3 weeks from day 1. On day 22, OVA-, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-, and concanavalin A (Con A)-stimulated splenocyte proliferation and antibodies (OVA-specific antibodies of the IgG, IgG1, and total IgM classes) in plasma were measured. 3. Results: Yuldahanso-tang and Chungsimyonja-tang increased NO synthesis in RAW 264.7 cells. Three herbal formulas significantly enhanced cellular proliferation by LPS and Con A in splenocytes from OVA-immunized mice (p<.001). Three herbal formulas for Taeeumin also significantly enhanced plasma OVA-specific IgG, IgG1, and total IgM levels compared with the OVA/Alum group. 4. Conclusion: These results suggested that three herbal formulas for Taeeumin could be used as stimulator of immune response.

Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze scientifically the purgative action of Chungpesagan-tang, which was widely used for stroke In Oriental Medicine. Methods: The contents of sennoside A on the water-extraction of Rhei Rhizoma, the transforming activity of sennoside A to rheinanthrone by human intestinal bacteria, and the anti-costive activity of Chungpesagan-tang, Rhei Rhizoma and Yuldahanso-tang on mice were investigated. Results: Rhei Rhizoma (Rheum palmatum, from China) had dose-dependent potent purgative action. Chungpesagan-tang containing this Rhei Rhizoma had more potent purgative action than Rhei Rhizoma only. However, Korean cultivated Rhei Rhizoma (Rheum undulatum) and Chungpesagan-tang containing this Korean cultivated Rhei Rhizoma had no purgative action. Conclusions: These results suggest that Chungpesagan-tang polyprescription should be considered to enhance the purgative action of Rhei Rhizoma.
