양돈장의 사양 및 위생관리에 따른 출하돈에서의 폐렴발생 (Prevalence of pneumonia in slaughtered pigs according to rearing and health managements of pig farms)

  • Among 2,373 slaughtered pigs examined for one year(March 1995 to February 1996), 1,899 pigs had visible pulmonary lesions. Prevalence rate of pulmonary lesion was examined by pathological techniques according to rearing and health managements of pig farms. The results were as follows : 1. Prevalence rate of pulmonary lesion in all-in/all-out flow farms(71.9%) was lower than that in continous flow farms(85.2%). 2. Prevalence rate of pulmonary lesion in non-infected farms with Aujeszky's disease virus and/or porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus(74.4%) was lower than that in infected farms(85.5%). 3. During winter, prevalence rate of pulmonary lesion in farms with cold-control facilities(83.2%) was lower than that in farms with poor cold-control facilities.

  • The persistence of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV) infection was demonstrated in 7 swine farms employing continuous pig flow management even after seasonal outbreaks. Clinically, sporadic postweaning diarrhea was a major concern in those farms. Subsequently circulatory antibody detection using serum neutralizing test made useful for confirmation of PEDV persistent infections. The persistence of PEDV in the premise might have induced recurrence over the period of time.

  • The "leading farms" or "superior management farms" were relatively capable to overcome various limitations in rapidly changing agricultural environment and economic conditions, and quick to adopt agricultural management innovations and accomplish more compared to the other farms in shorter durations. The farmers from these "leading farms" were innovative and dynamic, and endowed with potentials to be the core leaders in rural society. Their adaptability created a difference and worthy of emulations. The purpose of this research was to propose a policy to develop, promote and sustain these leading farms. There were some problems in communication structures and in implementing agricultural policies for upbringing leading farmers. In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry(MAF) and Rural Development Administration (RDA), this article attempted to come up with workable strategies to solve these problems affecting the leading farms.

경관보전직불제사업의 실태분석 및 개선방안 (The Status and Improvement Proposal of the Direct Payment Program for Rural Landscape Conservation)

  • The purpose of this study is evaluate the direct payment program for rural landscape conservation and deduce facts to improve. This research is composed with a survey on local government officials and farmers joined this program, and used monitering in selected 41 zones. According to the surveys, this program showed a positive contribution to the effects: village harmony, visitors increase, village income. However, It's contribute in short term objectives, but has not yet reach the ultimate goal such as regional development through visitors and village income. We found some problems in the monitering, on the agreement with farmers, range of village activities, operating AgriX program, etc. Finally, we suggest some proposals ; 1) to redefine the aims and range for the program, 2) to clarify a village action program, 3) to strength the admission procedure, 4) to designate district based on landscape resources survey.

  • An expert system for cucumber disease and nutritional disorders(ESCD) was developed using HCLIPS in which several interface programs were added to CLIPS developed in NASA. The knowledges for constructing knowledge base was obtained from interviews with farmers, agrochemical vendors and employees of agrochemical company. The ESCD is able to diagnose eleven diseases and twelve nutritional disorders which farmers, agrochemical vendors and employees of agrochemical company. The ESCD is able to diagnose eleven diseases and twelve nutritional disorders which could frequently found in fields and greenhouses. Validation of ESCD by twenty -four experts proved a possibility of its practical use for diagnosing cucumber diseases and nutritional disorders in the future.

  • 농산물의 비용계산에서 생산비는 농산물의 적정가격 결정, 농업정책수립의 기초자료 및 농가지도의 중요한 지표로 활용되어 왔지만, 개별 농업경영체의 경영계획수립, 경영진단 등을 위해서는 원가개념의 도입이 필요하다. 그러나 농업부문의 비용계산에서 원가회계의 도입은 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 농산물생산비의 목적, 개념, 대상, 기간 등에서 농산물의 원가 산출의 기준이 되는 원가계산준칙과 관련된 문제점을 비판적으로 검토하여 농산물의 비용계산을 위한 원가회계의 기본방향을 제시하였다.

  • Smart livestock has been proposed as a solution to increase farmers' income and new recruitment of livestock farmers. In this paper, a standardization Plan of breeding management device and collected information for smart livestock cattle was proposed. l Sophisticatedly, basic information will be established for all six types of livestock breeding management device: military automatic feeder, calf automatic feeder, smart milk cooler, feed bin to be able to measure feed residue, smart scale, and biometric information collection device. The standardization, common use, and stabilization of major livestock management device and collected information were suggested to solve the problems caused by in existing breeding management device.

딸기재배 온실의 현장조사 분석 -서부경남 지역을 중심으로- (Field Survey of Greenhouse for Strawberry Culture -Case Study Based on Western Gyeongnam Area-)

  • 본 연구에서는 딸기의 생육 및 환경관련 데이터를 활용하여 딸기 재배 온실의 최적 환경 구현을 위한 시스템을 선정하고 생산성 향상에 대한 연구를 위한 기초자료로 활용할 목적으로 서부 경남 지역 중 딸기 재배로 유명한 지역의 온실을 대상으로 현장조사를 실시하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 경상대학교 내에 딸기 재배용 테스트 베드 온실을 설치하여 연구를 실시하고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과 재배농가의 연령대를 보면, 상대적으로 50대 및 60대가 가장 많았지만, 50대 이하가 27개 농가로서 전체의 약 67.5%정도이었고, 60대 이상은 32.5%정도인 것으로 나타났다. 재배경력의 경우, 10년 이하가 주류를 이루고 있지만 30년 이상인 경우도 있었다. 대상농가 모두가 단동온실로서 대부분이 아치 형태인 것으로 나타났으며, 양액재배 농가가 약 75%정도로 토경재배보다 많은 것으로 나타났다. 양액재배의 경우, 전체 농가가 고설재배를 하고 있었다. 단동온실의 폭, 측고 및 동고는 조사지역에 관계없이 각각 7.5~8.5m, 1.3~1.8m 및 2.5~3.5m정도 이었다. 서까래 간격도 0.7~0.8m정도인 것으로 나타났다. 고설재배의 경우, 고설재배 베드의 폭, 높이 및 간격은 각각 0.25m전후, 1.2m전후 및 1.0m전후인 것으로 조사되었다. 딸기 품종의 경우, 국산이 약 97.5%를 차지하고 있었고, 이 중 설향이 약 65.0%로서 가장 선호하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 온실 내부 환경요인으로 38개 농가가 온도와 상대습도만 계측하였다. 2개 농가는 최근에 국산 제품인 스마트 팜 시스템을 도입한 농가도 있었다. 양액재배의 경우는 양액제어 시스템을 이용하고 있었다. 이 외에도 관비기를 사용하거나 환기 및 유동 팬을 사용하고 있는 농가도 있었다. 온습도 조절은 스마트 팜 시스템을 도입한 농가를 제외하고 약 85%인 34개 농가에서 측창이나 환기팬을 작동시키는 제어패널만을 이용하여 조절하였고, 수동으로 측창을 개폐하고 있는 농가도 10%정도인 4개 농가가 있었다. 보온 및 난방의 경우, 전체 대상 농가가 수막을 이용하고 있었다. 이 외에 필요에 따라 기름 및 전기보일러, 방열 램프 및 부직포 등을 병행하여 이용하는 농가도 다수 있었다.

A trend analysis of the cultivation status of medicinal crop farmers in Korea

  • The aims of this study were to classify the cultivation status of medicinal crop farmers and to obtain basic data on domestic medicinal crops. To this end, 406 medicinal crop farmers participating in farming education programs in 14 cities and counties were surveyed over 10 months. The results were as follows. First, the biggest difficulty farmers faced in the overall production of medicinal crops was a lack of cultivation skills. Second, in a detailed inquiry about each difficulty item, the most difficult problems were injury by continuous cropping of root-using crops, shortage of specific farm machinery, uncertain market prices, and lack of knowledge about pest control or the positive list system (PLS). Third, the profitability of medicinal crops increased with career experience. Among the farmers who earned profits, requests for education and technical guidance were the most important factors for profitability. Fourth, the results of the analysis suggest that to achieve stable cultivation of medicinal crops, the following items need to be addressed: development and supply of basic cultivation technologies, climate response, registration of pest control pesticides, a solution to the injury by continuous cropping, and contracting cultivation expansion. Additionally, to improve profitability, it is necessary to create conditions that enable the same crops to grow for a long time in one region.

Factors affecting Pig Farmers' Adoption of the HACCP System

  • The goal of this study is to determine, based on survey results, the underlying factors that affect the intention of the farmers who have not adopted the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system for the rearing phase of pig production to adopt this system in the future. The research model for this study was con structed based on strategic contingency theory, the theory of the diffusion of innovation, and the technology acceptance model (TAM). Using structural equation modeling with partial least squares (PLS), this study analyzes the effects of the intensity of competition, the environmental uncertainty, the innovativeness and self-efficacy of the individual farmers, and the impact of the credibility of the Agricultural Technology Service Center (ATSC), which acts as the principal agent of technology dissemination and as a leader of change, on the perceived usefulness of technology and the farmers' intention to adopt the system. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, with regard to the underlying factors affecting the intention to adopt the new system, the intensity of competition within the industry and the institutional credibility of the ATSC were inferred to underlie the perceived usefulness. Second, institutional credibility has a positive impact on the perceived usefulness of the system, and the perceived usefulness, in turn, has a positive impact on the intention to adopt. The perceived ease of use also has a positive impact on the intention to adopt. Because the factor that has the biggest impact on the intention of a farm to adopt is the credibility of the ATSC, it is crucial for extension organizations, such as the ATSC, to make greater efforts to promote the expansion of the HACCP system. Because farmers feel that the implementation of the HACCP system is an instrumental strategy for coping with the high intensity of competition within the industry, they attempt to gain a competitive edge through the production of safe livestock products.
