The present study aims to apply the theory of Brecht's 'Verfremdung' or distancing effect to the process of fashion design. The distancing effect refers to an avant-garde artistic technique that enables artists to create their works by viewing particular objects separately from the phenomena that occur around those objects. Brecht encouraged a sense of purpose that involved shifting to the new society sought by modernism. He also suggested an artistic approach that isolates perception from judgment 'Verfremdung' which reflects his approach well. In this paper, with the distancing effect considered as a method for creation, the author identifies the system of thought associated with the distancing method and applies this system to fashion design. To this end, the author first reviewed the concepts of 'Entfremdung' (alienation) and the distancing effect and studied the backgrounds of the two concepts. Next, the author identified Brecht's epic theory and its application. As a result, a method of perceiving objects as used with the distancing effect was noted, and this method was utilized to distinguish the relationship between the body and its clothes. Specifically of interest were parts of the human body and the related functions of clothes as well as the motor functions of the body and detailed decorations on clothes. Moreover, the author discovered a trend in the wearing of clothes that exists in the context of historical changeability by examining Brecht's work as it relates to the types of clothes that are worn. Finally, the author applied the distancing effect to fashion design in consideration of the discovered trend.

기계나 로봇은 인류의 실존적인 기반에 질문을 던진다. 기계들은 인간의 사고방식에 영향을 주었으며, 사회철학과 가치체계까지 변화시켜왔다. 이와 동시에 기계들은 줄곧 다양하고, 매력적인 특징들을 함유해왔다. 기계기술의 발전은 인류의 발전이라는 상징적 의미와 동시에 인간 존재를 위협하는 위험성이라는 상징적 의미를 함께 가지고 있다. 이러한 기계의 양가적인 특징들을 현대조각의 키네틱 요소에서도 발견할 수 있다. 필자는 조각적인 작품 중에서도 기계나 기계의 메커니즘을 활용하는 조각에 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 역사적인 발전과정을 통해 검토하였으며, 현대미술의 특정 예시들을 당대의 대표 모델로 논하였다. 본 연구는 키네틱아트와 설치미술 분야에서 두각을 나타내는 두 명의 젊은 동시대 작가인, 최우람(Choe u-ram)과 예페 하인(Jeppe Hein)을 대표모델로 선정하였다. 두 작가는 기계나 기계의 메커니즘을 사용하는 동양과 서양의 작가로서, 두 작가의 표현방식의 차이가 존재한다. 예시로 몇 가지 작품을 제시하고, 비교를 통하여 두 작가의 문화적 차이와 시각 언어의 차이가 나타나는 이유에 대하여 분석하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 글로벌화된 세계에서도 지역적 특징이 항상 남아있음을 결론으로 제시한다.

These researches discussed promotions and effectiveness in the area of star marketing production, copying, advertising, and expenditure on clothes. The thesis is refreshing in the way it deals with analysis of strategical changes in the fashion of entertainers asia cultural industry developed. I specially focused on comparing and analyzing the changes in style of Hip Hop fashion from the period of inferior culture to the period in which their fashion is highly respected. Also, I'd like to study the influence of the fashion to Korean Hip Hop artists. The Hip Hop musicians developed their styles from underdog images of Hip Hop to glamourous and luxurious styles along with modeling in various magazines appealing sexually. In Korea, Seven and Hyori Lee are showing new and changed styles that are different from the past to their fans. The Hip Hop style now is showing with unimaginably luxurious styles as opposed to its original image. With their pursuance of ostentatious and luxurious styles Hip Hop was reborn as new Glam style. Old Hip Hop styles such as ripped jeans, safety pins, graffiti, and loose and exaggerated silhouette give inspirations to many worldly known designers and their collection. Hip Hop that used to be a branch of a low culture was able to grow to the culture of luxuries via the development the media and improvement of lives and the level of consciousness of the middleclass. Music stars with luxurious Hip Hop fashion influenced coming of a new musical genre and Korean musicians largely. I hope this research can help developing the unique low-culture and creating new trend in the field of entertainers' fashion.

Typography, as the median for communication, has expanded its roles according the attributes of the media where it Is used, and the change of media follwing the change of times is presenting new directions to the field of typography. The attempts of 20C experimental typography prioritize visual formativeness, free typography and language started to appear on printed matters and different kinds of prints put pep in magazines. Thus, experiments in the aspects of effective delivery of inpormation that letters have and aesthetic side of shapes of letter are continuing. Today with the appearance of multimedia, development of visual colture and rapid development of digital technology, the range of experimental typography has expanded even wider and therefore, different kinds of expressions became possible. As seen above, unlike the existing static printed media that carries linguistic information only, letters in the multimedia environment is shown in the movie titles, TV or web not only as a basic visual media such as type and image, but as a dynamic and complex factor that contains additional information of motion and sound factor. This study will attempt to find the historic context of focus of moment from the kinetic art and define the moving letters as kinetic typography. Therefore, this paper will have an understanding on kinetic typography's background, concept and characteristics following the change of communication environment in the multimedia era and tried to study the basic theories of kinetic typography and the information delivery and imagery function of letters. Also, this paper attempted to carry out a study on whether kinetic typography is delivering information smoothly from the aspect of communication through the image role as delivering information by studying major works of artists who have influenced kinetic typography. Based on this study, I would like to suggest new direction for effective delivery of information and value of use.

Government policy supporting the fashion industry in Korea has focused on the future development of rising fashion designer's brands, and as a part of this support, several Fashion Creative Studios are presently operated. The purpose of this study is to identify the meaning of these facilities and suggest development strategies for their effective utilization. This paper presents a conceptual understanding based on a literature review, and deduces the direction of Fashion Creative Studios through an exploratory analysis of various case studies and in-depth interviews with five designers, who have graduated from the Seoul Fashion Creative Studio. The results are as follows. Firstly, fashion educational institutions have to provide sufficient information about the Fashion Creative Studios to students. They can also consider adding short-term residencies to the curriculum in which students prepare collections or portfolios for the studios. Secondly, Fashion Creative Studios are required to intensify business and marketing programs to increase real-world support. It would be helpful to provide 1:1 management programs with several segmented stages for the design brands, or connect them to investors who could provide financial support and business expansion. Thirdly, Fashion Creative Studios need to find a way to strengthen textile differentiation and craft characteristics to increase designer brand competitiveness. Broadening participation with textile designers, connecting with experts and ateliers, and promoting collaboration with artists and artisans in the Arts Creative Studios can be further examined to this end.

오늘날 '컨버전스'와 '소통'은 모든 분야에서 키워드가 되고 있다. 예술가와 공학자는 새로운 기술에 기반을 둔 협업을 통해 그 동안의 상호단절에서 벗어나 점차 소통하고 있다. 컨버전스 시대에 예술 영역의 인터넷 아트와 기술 영역의 내비게이션과 아이폰에서 오감융합기술의 활용이 돋보인다. 소메라와 미뇨노의 인터넷 아트 $\ll$Riding the Net$\gg$, $\ll$The Living Room$\gg$, $\ll$The Living Web$\gg$은 음성인식을 통한 시각이미지와 촉각을 통한 시 공간 표현을 인터넷과 오감융합기술을 통해 구현하고 있다. 그리고 산업기술에서 내비게이션과 아이폰은 음성인식을 통한 오감융합기술을 적용하여 감성영역을 확장하여 인터넷 아트와 비슷한 기술을 선보인다. 이 연구에서 살펴본 바와 같이, 예술과 기술의 융합적 발전은 디지털 아트와 문화기술 산업의 새로운 지평을 열 것으로 보인다.

본 연구는 현대 예술에서 나타난 죽음 미학의 의미를 깊게 이해하기 위해, 먼저 예술 작품에 담긴 죽음의 미학적 발전 과정을 통시적 관점으로 정리하고, 다음으로 현대 예술 작품에서의 죽음의 미학을 분류하고 의미를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 죽음의 미학적 표현 형식은 죽음의 재현과 죽음 상징의 두 가지로 구분한다. 죽음의 재현은 실질적 대상 재현, 상상의 대상 재현을 포함한다. 죽음의 상징적 표현은 외면적 표현 상징과 내면적 표현 상징으로 나눌 수 있다. 둘째, 현대 예술에서 죽음의 재현성 표현은 죽음의 장면에 대한 묘사를 통해 죽음으로 인한 다양한 문제 및 철학적 의미를 더한다. 셋째, 현대 예술에서 죽음의 상징적 의미는 죽음과 직접적으로 관련된 것뿐만 아니라 죽음에 따른 다양한 심리상태를 표현한다. 후속 연구에서는 예술 작품에서 죽음의 미학에 대한 작가의 시각적 표현과 그에 따른 심층적인 의미 변화를 진행할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the Russian abstract artist Kazimir Malevich's works during the period of absolutism and thereupon, suggest some knitwear designs practical, decorative and creative. For this purpose, the researcher reviewed domestic and foreign literature, dissertations and academic journals to determine the Russian abstract fine art and the significance of Kazimir Malevich's works in the history of arts and thereupon, examined Malevich's works or the champions of absolutism in terms of their geometric formative elements or forms and colors. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, paintings may be important motives for the contemporary costume designs, while being a major driving power for development of some original designs depending on artists' personal thoughts and expression techniques. Second, this study is deemed to suggest creative and original techniques and motive applications for fashion designs by introducing the elements of Kazimir Malevich's paintings into costume designs, and provide for an opportunity to suggest new values by combining arts and fashion. Third, the knit jacquard technique, one of the major techniques for the knit design works using Kazimir Malevich's absolutism works, is considered a tubular jacquard featuring the deepest sense of thickness. The intarsia technique is preferred in the recent trend for light fabric because it features clear background patterns and allows for thinner fabric. Lastly, it is hoped that this study will serve to expand the domain of expression by means of an art marketing or meeting between arts and fashion in our contemporary industries.

This study is on the abstract expressionist techniques among the art activities variously expressed in modern fashion. Its significance lies in making fashion artistic through the combination of fashion and art in contributing to the development of creative fashion culture. In terms of method, documents are used to characterize the concept of abstract expressionism, the works of representative artists, and the panting techniques in relation to modem art based on existing literature. Fashion-related anthology, domestic, and foreign fashion magazines were used to analyze the abstract expressionism applied to modern fashion since 2000. According to the findings, the abstract expressionism applied to modern fashion showed artistic expressions with the abstract beauty by chance, using only the images or techniques similar to those in abstract expressionism. Expressionist works had abstract and dynamic images, as they were given a third dimension through the process of being worn on the human body. Second, details or decorative factors were excluded to ensure the maximum space for expression, modem images were displayed using the simple forms such as silhouettes (spacious or dense) and the beauty of harmony was shown that had beauty emphasized by the expression effects of textile design, the division of space, and the composition of colors. Third, the action painting techniques in modern fashion were used for textile designs printed on the surface of clothes, and the dynamic character of the design was shown by the duplication and juxtaposition of stains created by chance. The color field abstract techniques were shown through printing, texture, and dying, in addition the intense and pure abstract images were displayed by treating clothes like large screens.

본 연구의 목적은 그로테스크의 개념과 특징을 고찰하고 그로테스크의 회화적 역사를 살펴 본 후 시대별 회화 작품을 응용한 바디페인팅 융합 디자인 작품을 제시함으로써 창의적이고 독창적인 바디페인팅 디자인의 기초자료를 제시하는데 있다. 연구 방법은 관련 서적과 선행 연구 및 인터넷 자료 등을 토대로 그로테스크와 바디페인팅의 개념 및 특징, 표현기법 등을 이론적으로 고찰하고 시대별로 그로테스크 회화 작품의 이미지를 분석한 후 이를 바탕으로 융합 디자인하여 바디페인팅 작품을 제작하였다. 연구 결과, 바디페인팅 작품 제작을 통해 그로테스크를 비롯한 회화 작품들이 바디페인팅 작가들에게 무한한 상상력과 다양한 주제를 제시할 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 향 후 바디페인팅 작품을 디자인하는데 미술작품의 역할이 크게 작용할 수 있음을 시사하는 바이다. 또한 이를 좀 더 학문적이고 체계적으로 연구하고자 하는 이들에게 융합 디자인의 영감을 제시하여 예술 작품으로서의 바디페인팅이 하나의 독자적 영역을 공고히 하는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
