The purpose of this study is to understand the content characteristics in YouTube videos of the National Archives of Korea. For this purpose, keywords, video data, and viewer responses were collected for 324 videos posted by the National Archives of Korea for five years since April, 2017. Social network analysis, topic modeling, and content analysis were performed. Based on this, the main keywords leading the YouTube videos of the National Archives of Korea, 7 major topics and 20 sub-topics were identified. The characteristics of the YouTube videos and keywords network were studies. In addition, video characteristics were analyzed as external characteristics, video editing and delivery methods, and content characters. The study found that the YouTube channel of the National Archives of Korea has been posting the videos related to various topics such as places, history, and events as well as the basic functions of the archives to induce viewers' interest in the archives. The study also identified the areas that needed to be improved such as low response from viewers, lack of content that could interest viewers, and lack of channel operation to interact or communicate with viewers. Finally, the study was concluded with a proposal to spread the videos of the National Archives of Korea to more users.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to describe the source, length, number of views, and content of the most widely viewed Zika virus (ZIKV)-related YouTube videos. We hypothesized that ZIKV-related videos uploaded by different sources contained different content. Methods: The 100 most viewed English ZIKV-related videos were manually coded and analyzed statistically. Results: Among the 100 videos, there were 43 consumer-generated videos, 38 Internet-based news videos, 15 TV-based news videos, and 4 professional videos. Internet news sources captured over two-thirds of the total of 8 894 505 views. Compared with consumer-generated videos, Internet-based news videos were more likely to mention the impact of ZIKV on babies (odds ratio [OR], 6.25; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.64 to 23.76), the number of cases in Latin America (OR, 5.63; 95% CI, 1.47 to 21.52); and ZIKV in Africa (OR, 2.56; 95% CI, 1.04 to 6.31). Compared with consumer-generated videos, TV-based news videos were more likely to express anxiety or fear of catching ZIKV (OR, 6.67; 95% CI, 1.36 to 32.70); to highlight fear of ZIKV among members of the public (OR, 7.45; 95% CI, 1.20 to 46.16); and to discuss avoiding pregnancy (OR, 3.88; 95% CI, 1.13 to 13.25). Conclusions: Public health agencies should establish a larger presence on YouTube to reach more people with evidence-based information about ZIKV.

Background/Aims: The primary aims of this study were to evaluate the content quality of YouTube videos on exercises to help relieve constipation and to assess whether the video source, exercise types, and popularity affected their quality. Methods: Eight gastroenterologists independently evaluated the exercises presented in the constipation YouTube videos for seven items: image quality, usefulness in relieving constipation (quality 1), usefulness for general physical health (quality 2), difficulty in following, activity intensity, fun, and overall quality. Raters were asked open-ended questions to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the videos. Five-point ordinal scales were used to score each item aforementioned, with the exception of image quality and overall quality that used a six-point Likert scale. Results: The 20 videos had a mean length of 268 seconds and a mean viewership of 32,694. The most common video source was commercial (n=10), and the most common type of physical activity was yoga (n=11). The median values of image quality, quality 1, quality 2, difficulty in following, activity intensity, fun, and overall quality were 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, and 2, respectively. Yoga videos had significantly higher median quality 1 values (3) compared with massage videos (2, adjusted p=0.006) and 'others' videos (2, adjusted p<0.001). A lack of medical evidence was the most common answer to open-ended questions about the weaknesses of each video. Conclusions: Overall, YouTube exercise videos presented a low-quality content. This study highlights the need for evidence-based comprehensive educational videos addressing exercises for treating constipation.
This study empirically confirmed 'the political bias of the YouTube recommendation algorithm' and 'the selective exposure of user' to verify the Filter Bubble phenomenon of YouTube. For the experiment, two new YouTube accounts were opened and each account was trained simultaneously in a conservative and a liberal account for a week, and the "Recommended" videos were collected from each account every two days. Subsequently, through the text mining method, the goal of the research was to investigate whether conservative videos are more recommended in a righties account or lefties videos are more recommended in a lefties account. And then, this study examined if users who consumed political news videos via YouTube showed "selective exposure" received selected information according to their political orientation through a survey. As a result of the Text Mining, conservative videos are more recommended in the righties account, and liberal videos are more recommended in the lefties account. Additionally, most of the videos recommended in the righties/lefties account dealt with politically biased topics, and the topics covered in each account showed markedly definitive differences. And about 77% of the respondents showed selective exposure.

YouTube videos secure the latest trends in the field and provide viewers' preferences and non-preferences. This study analyzes the discussion of death in recent YouTube videos and explores the relationship between life, well-dying, and well-aging. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the establishment of a healthy life for Koreans by exploring relevance. The survey period and target are 13 videos uploaded on YouTube from 2019 to 2021. As a result of the investigation, it was possible to encompass 25 speakers who were discussing death centered on doctors. Video speakers in charge of various areas conducted various discussions on death from the perspective of experts. The key points are the true value of life, death that you don't need to fear, the importance of hope, the naturalness of death, etc. 11 expert perspectives are measured into 4 types based on 4 criteria: life, death, well-aging, and well-dying. The widespread adoption of smartphones and advancements in internet technology have notably shifted content consumption habits toward video. This research aims to dissect the nature of videos posted on YouTube, the global video-sharing platform, to understand the characteristics of both produced and preferred content. For this study, dance was chosen as a specific subject from a variety of video categories. Data on YouTube videos associated with the term "dance" was compiled over three years, from 2019 to 2021. The investigation revealed a clear distinction between the types of dance videos frequently uploaded to YouTube and those that receive a high number of views. The empirical analysis of this study indicates a viewer preference for vlogs that provide insights into the daily lives of dance students, as well as for purpose-driven videos, such as those highlighting dance exam preparations or school dance events. Notably, the vlogs that attract the most attention are typically created by dance students at the college or secondary school level, rather than by professionals. Although the study was focused on dance, its methodologies can be applied to different subjects. These insights are expected to contribute to the development of a recommendation system that aids content creators in effectively targeting their productions.
