A 5-year-old intact male Yorkshire terrier dog was referred with a 1-week history of blindness. In both eyes, menace responses and pupillary light reflexes were absent. The indirect ophthalmoloscopy revealed multiple small gray-white and discoloration lesion in mid-nontapetum area in both eyes. Electroretinograms showed diminished amplitude of a- and b-waves. Multifocal serous retinal detachments were detected with optical coherence tomography (OCT) over the small gray-white and discoloration lesion in the fundus. After one week of treatments, the indirect ophthalmoloscopy showed that irregular patches and hyperpigmentation in the center of hyperreflectivity area. Reattachment and retinal thinning were observed by the OCT. The results indicate that OCT scanning is considered to be a useful method for retinal evaluation in dogs with chorioretinitis.

First case, a one-year-old female Shih Tzu weighing 3 kg with closed transverse fractures of bilateral mandibular body between 2nd and 3rd premolar teeth were treated surgically with bone plates and screws, and cranial luxation of temporomandibular joints were reduced to closed method. Second case, a 8.4 years old male Yorkshire terrier weighing 2.6 kg with closed transverse/oblique fractures of bilateral mandibular body between premolar and molar teeth were treated surgically with bone plates and screws. Radiographic examination revealed that the fractures in two cases fixed well and temporomandibular joint was stabilized. One month after operation, jaw activity was excellent and malocclusion wasn't observed.

A castrated male, 9-year-old Yorkshire terrier was presented with a depression and bilateral hind limbs lameness. On physical examinations, upper motor neuron signs and stiffness of the hind limbs, back pain and progressive paresis were identified. Marked periosteal new bone formations and lysis include the first lumbar vertebra to the sacrum, bilateral iliums acetabulums and bilateral femoral heads were observed in survey radiographs. After death with septicemia suspected, renal infarction and the 5th vertebral osteomyelitis include pelvic periostitis were diagnosed in histological examination.

Three dimensional computed tomographic images were obtained in two cases with trauma. The first case of a 3 year-old male Maltese, with ataxia and head tilting due to head trauma was referred to veterinary medical teaching hospital, Seoul National University. Remarkable findings were not found on survey radiographs. With the help of three-dimensional reconstruction computed tomographic imaging, parietal and occipital bone fracture was identified. The second case of 4 month-old female Yorkshire terrier with left forelimb lameness was referred right after trauma. Survey radiography showed obvious incongruity of the elbow joint. Lateral and medial condyle of the left humerus fracture and lateral displacement of the left ulna were apparent in three-dimensional computed tomographic image. It was considered that three-dimensional computed tomography could be used as an aid modality for the exact evaluation of extends and degree of fracture as well as planning of orthopedic surgery.

11 year old male Yorkshire terrier was referred to Haemaru Referral Animal Hospital with signs of hematuria, petechia, and gynecomastia. Blood works revealed severe leukopenia, moderate anemia and severe thrombocytopenia. On ultrasonography and radiography, mixed echo texture mass was found in abdomen. The abdominal mass was surgically removed, and submitted for histopathology. Histopathologic features of the tissues were consistent with malignant Sertoli cell tumor. Bone marrow aspirates were hypocellular. Serum estrogen concentration was 72.80 pg/ml (normal range for females <15 pg/ml) after surgery. Clinical signs of feminization and hemorrhagic diathesis were attributed to hyperestrinism caused by the tumor. The dog was put on fluid therapy, antibiotics and palliative drugs and survived 2 more weeks after surgery without clinical improvement.

A five-year-old female Yorkshire Terrier dog presented with a perianal mass. Fine needle aspiration revealed that the mass comprised two different types of cells: hepatoid epithelial cells and melanin-containing melanocytes. Histopathological examination confirmed perianal gland adenoma with malignant melanoma. Evidence of metastasis was found on thoracic radiography with soft-tissue densities observed within the pulmonary parenchyma. The dog survived for three months after diagnosis of malignant melanoma. This report describes the clinical findings, diagnostics used, cytological and histopathological findings, and the potential prognosis for a dog diagnosed with malignant anal sac melanoma.

A 8-year-old, intact female, 2.1 kg, yorkshire terrier dog was referred to Animal Medical Center, Chonbuk National University due to right hindlimb lameness. Orthopedic examinations revealed pain during extension and flexion on stifle joint, positive cranial drawer sign, positive tibial compression test and patella luxation. Radiography showed the cranial displacement of right tibia with mildly increasing the synovial volume. The surgical procedure involved radial osteotomy of the proximal tibia and fixation by 1.2 T-locking plate. At two weeks after surgery, the patient was able to weight-bearing and gait gradually improved. This case report describes circular Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (cTTA) surgical technique and the successful surgical repair of cranial cruciate ligament rupture a dog.

Imperforate hymen is a rare congenital disorder that may predispose to retention of fluid in the vagina and uterus, thereby resulting in conditions such as hematocolpos, pyocolpos, and pyocolpometra in female dogs. A 7-year-old intact female shih tzu exhibiting abdominal distension, depression, anorexia, dysuria, dyschezia, and tenesmus was diagnosed with pyocolpos; a 9-year-old intact female Yorkshire terrier with abdominal mass, dysuria, and tenesmus was diagnosed with hematocolpos; and a 7-year-old intact female shih tzu with dysuria, dyschezia, anorexia, and vomiting was diagnosed with pyocolpometra. Ovariohysterectomy and partial vaginectomy were performed, and the blind end of the vaginal stump was omentalized. This clinical report provide diagnostic process and surgical treatment option for congenital vaginal obstruction cases.

A 15-year-old spayed female Yorkshire Terrier was presented to our hospital with a history of anorexia, depression and abdominal pain. Diagnostic procedures including blood test, radiography and ultrasonography were performed. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed multiple hypoechoic cysts in the left lobe of the liver. Over time, the cysts increased in size and became more echogenic. Four days later, the rupture of the largest cyst was suspected, and hepatic abscesses with bacteria were confirmed by aspiration of the cyst. Despite surgical resection of the abscessed liver lobe, antibiotic administration, and supportive therapy, the dog died 9 days after presentation to the hospital and 4 days after the surgical procedure. The present case report described the overall diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for liver abscesses in a dog.

To determine the prevalence of breed, age, and sex of canine primary glaucoma by comparing previous reports in Korea. We included the medical records of dogs diagnosed with primary glaucoma who visited the veterinary medical teaching hospital of Seoul National University (SNU) from January 2011 to December 2020 and investigated their breed, age, and sex. All the patients underwent a full ophthalmic examination. We analyzed the results using a binary logistic regression analysis based on the Jindo dog, which was close to the mean value of the primary glaucoma incidence rate. Of the 14,587 dogs treated at the veterinary medical teaching hospital of SNU, 107 (0.73%) were diagnosed with primary glaucoma. Glaucoma occurred in 14 breeds, including the American Cocker Spaniel, Shih Tzu, Maltese, Pomeranian, Jindo dog, Mixed Breed, Pekinese, Toy Poodle, Samoyed, Shiba Inu, Miniature Pinscher, Boston Terrier, Labrador retriever, and Yorkshire Terrier. The mean age of onset of primary glaucoma was 7.8 ± 2.3 years. Primary glaucoma was observed in 53 spayed females, 11 females, 38 castrated males, and five males. Regardless of neutralization, the ratio of females to males was 1.5:1. This study showed that primary glaucoma was significantly higher in American Cocker Spaniels and higher in Shih Tzus than other breeds in Korea; they had the highest incidence of primary glaucoma at 7 and 8 years of age, respectively. Therefore, the two breeds should be carefully monitored for the occurrence of primary glaucoma when they approach 7 years of age.
