Behavior of Concrete-Filled Square Steel Tubular Column-H Beam Connections with Reinforced bars (철근으로 보강한 콘크리트충전 각형강관 기둥-H형강보 접합부의 거동)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of concrete-filled steel tubular column to H-beam connections with reinforced bar. As a preliminary test, simple tensile test on the column to H-beam connections stiffened were conducted. The parameters of tensile test are the diameters of each rebars. The simple tensile test were conducted to 5 kinds of specimens. Estimating the load. displacement and strain for specimens, the result of tensile test were compared with the results of main test. On the basis of simple tensile test, tests are conducted to montonic and cyclic loading column to H-beam connections with the same diameters of rebars. Specimens of 5 are made for monotonic and cyclic loading test. In analysis, estimating the yielding strength and maximum strength of specimens on the basis of yield line theory, strength formula of beam-to column connections with concrete-filled steel tubular column was suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the utility of concretefilled steel tubular column to H-beam connections with tubular stiffener. As a preliminary step. a tensile experiment was undertaken to scrutinize characteristics of the structural behavior that take place between beam flanges and column with tubular stiffener. A total of 4 types of experimental settings were developed as tabular stiffeners are made up 9, 18, and 27 mm of thickness and 50 and 80 mm of height respetively Along with the overall load subsequently the degree of displacement and strain were recorded. Based on the yield line theory results of this of this study were evaluated and further critically reviewed the applicability of the strength formula. This study found that collapse mechanism was emerged on the beam flange as reinforcing tabular stiffeners Complementary studies of this sort, including numerical analyses should be undertaken in order to develope specific design critera.

  • This paper described the ultimate strength and deformation limit of welded T-joints in cold-formed square hollow sections. Previous studies showed that the strength of a T-joint still increases with increasing deformations at a ratio of branch width to chord width (${\beta}$) of below 0.8. Therefore, the strength at a certain deformation (chord flange indentation) limit can be regarded as the ultimate strength of a T-joint. The chord flange failure modes were investigated for the ratio of branch width to chord width (${\beta}$) and the ratio of chord width to chord web thickness (B/T). Experimental results including tests done by Kato proposed a deformation limit of 3%B for $16.7{\leq}B/T{\leq}41.6$ and $0.27{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}0.8$. The strength formula of CIDECT and other researchers were compared with the test results. Finally, the strength formula based on yield-line theory was proposed.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Column-H Beam connections with plate stiffeners. The first, we made experiment on the Column to H-beam flange connections stiffened with simple tensile loading. The paramaters of tensile experiment are the area of each plates. The simple tensile experiment is conducted to 5 kinds of specimens. Eestimating the load, displacement, and strain from each kind, we compared them with results of second experiment. The second, we made experiment on the Column to H-beam connections stiffened with the sames under monotonic and cyclic load. we made specimens of 5 for the second experiment. In analysis, comparing each strengthes and stiffnesses we estimated deformation capacity. Comparing and estimating each yielding strength ratios and maxium-strength ratios on the basis of Yield line theory, we suggested new Strength Formula of Beam-to-Column Connections.

  • The structural behavior of connections between concrete-filled rectangular tubular column (CFRT column) and steel beam has been studied in this paper through sub-assemblage loading tests. It is found that the sub-assemblages exhibit ductile restoring force characteristics under seismic loading. A formula for the prediction of the yield strength of each member in the connection is proposed by using the yield line theory under the assumption of a simple stress transfer mechanism. It is shown that the proposed formula can produce a reasonable prediction while providing a basis for further investigation.

A Study on Effect of Aerodynamic Loads on Mooring Line Responses of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (공기 동역학 하중이 부유식 해상 풍력 발전기의 계류선 응답에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents effect of aerodynamic loads on mooring line responses of a floating offshore wind turbine. A Matlab code based on blade element momentum (BEM) theory is developed to consider aerodynamic loads acting on NREL 5MW wind turbine. The aerodynamic loads are coupled with time-domain hydrodynamic analyses using one-way interaction scheme of the wave and wind loads. A semi-submersible floating platform which is from Offshore Code Comparison Collaborative Continuation(OC4) DeepCWind platform is used with catenary mooring lines simply composed of studless chain links. Average values of mooring peak tensions obtained from aerodynamic load consideration are significantly increased compared to those from simple wind drag force consideration. Consideration of aerodynamic loads also yield larger tension ranges which can be important factor to reduce fatigue life of the mooring lines.

  • Although a structural analysis based on e linear elastic theory yields good results for deformations and stresses produced by working loads, it fails to assess the teal load-carrying of the plates on the verge of yielding. In case of a limit analysis of plates, the yield line theory is widely used on the basis of the upper bound theorem and theoretically it overestimates the strength of the plate. There is, therefore, a general need for analytical methods of predicting the inelastic behavior and load-carrying capacities of plate subjected to arbitrary loadings and boundary conditions. The $\rho$-version of finite element method has been presented for determining the accurate limit load of plates. The numerical results by $\rho$-version model compares with the results obtained by the h-version software ADINA as well as with the available analytical solutions in literatures.

Evaluation of Design Formulae for T-joints on the Branch Plate and Hollow Steel Sections welded connections (지관 플레이트가 주관에 용접된 각형강관 접합부의 설계내력 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a design formulae that evaluates the design strength of T-joints made of cold-formed square hollow steel sections with longitudinal branch plate. The T-joints had a configuration that a branch member used to longitudinal plate to the main chord in the plane. This study focused on the branch plate T-joints governed by the main chord flange failure mode among the experimental results. Based on the test results of the longitudinal branch plate T-joint in the square hollow sections, the ultimate strength on the T-joints was defined as 1.5 times the load at 1% B the strength of joints that governed the serviceability in control for $16.7{\leq}2\gamma(B/T){\leq}31.3$ and $0.20{\leq}{\beta}(b1/B){\leq}0.75$. Existing yield line models for normal T-joints were investigated to be the main chord flange failure for the branch plate T-joint, and this proposal design formula was based on the theory of the yield line model. Finally, the value of the finite element method compared with the value of the test and theory for the T-joints verified the validity of the design formulae.

  • This paper is the first step on the study of the industrialization of the mid-story steel building structures. The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of concrete-filled square steel tubular column to H-beam connections using angles and high tension bolts. The tests are carried out with five types of specimens under static loading and the main parameter is the thickness of angles. Yield-line theory which obtains connection strength by way of the lowest value based on upper-limit theory is applied to predict strength formulas.

Growth Opportunities, Capital Structure and Dividend Policy in Emerging Market: Indonesia Case Study

  • The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of growth opportunities on capital structure and dividend policy in Indonesia. The study employs panel data of companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange that distribute dividends from 2007 to 2017. Fixed and random effect regression models are used. Findings based on growth opportunities on capital structure and dividend policy in Indonesia are in line with the existing theory (i.e., contracting theory). Growth opportunities have a significant negative correlation with debt ratio and dividend yield, which suggests that firms with high growth opportunities are discouraged to generate debt to resolve underinvestment and asset-substitution problem. Firms with more investment opportunities tend to adopt a low dividend payout policy because the cash flows will be used up for investment. The positive impact of firm size on leverage is due to the low bankruptcy risk and cost of a large company. Profitability has a positive impact on the dividend policy because profitable companies can reserve larger free cash flows and, thus, pay higher dividends. The positive influence of ownership on leverage is interpreted by the unwillingness of majority stockholders to commit to equity financing in order to avoid reducing the ownership and preserve control of the company.
