2012 여수세계박람회의 개최 확정으로 여수, 순천, 그리고 광양을 포함한 광양만권이 지역경제 발전이라는 새로운 희망을 안게 되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 여수세계박람회가 광양만권 지역경제에 미치는 긍정적 효과들을 분석해보고, 이들 효과를 지역차원에서 극대화할 수 있는 실천적 방안들을 제시하였다. 먼저 여수세계박람회가 광양만권에 미칠 수 있는 직접적인 경제효과로서 총 12조673억원의 지역 내 GDP 증가와 9만7,842명의 고용창출 효과를 들 수 있으며, 사회간접자본 확충과 이에 따른 광양만권경제자유구역 활성화 및 광양항 물동량 증가 등의 파급효과를 기대할 수 있다. 아울러 여수세계박람회를 통해 광양만권 개발이 가속화될 뿐만 아니라 지역이미지 개선에 따른 도시국제화가 촉진됨으로써 장기적으로 지역경제가 크게 발전될 것으로 예상된다. 이와 같은 세계박람회의 다양한 경제적 효과들을 극대화하기 위해 본 연구는 지역차원에서 실천 가능한 전략적 방안들을 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 먼저 박람회의 차별화 된 주제를 실현할 수 있도록 지역특유의 차별적 문화유산 개발 등과 같은 다양한 아이디어를 창출하고 실행해야 한다. 그리고 지역발전과 함께 도시국제화를 폭진시킬 수 있는 가장 효과적 항법 중의 하나인 외국인 및 외국기업 유치 활성화를 위한 정주인프라 구축이 필요하다. 아울러 박람회와 자연관광을 연계한 체험 위주의 관광프로그램을 전략적으로 개발하여 국내외 관광객을 성공적으로 유치해야 할 것이다. 마지막으로 박람회의 성공적 개최를 위해 대중매체 외 비대중매체인 해외 문화공연과 봉사활동 등 다양한 홍보전략을 지방자치단체 차원에서 계획적으로 수립할 필요가 있다.

여수시는 2012년 여수세계엑스포의 개최 확정으로 문화도시로 자리바꿈할 큰 기회를 맞고 있으며, 여수시 또한 주요업무추진계획을 통하여 문화예술도시를 중심으로 한 국제해양관광 레저도시 건설을 천명하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 여수시의 지역주민의 의식에 기초하여 여수시의 현재 문화 상황을 조명하고 여수시 지역주민이 인식하는 문화도시와 문화도시 구축방안을 도출하고자 수행되었다. 분석결과 첫째, 여수지역의 문화예술에 불만족하고 있는 것으로 나타나 여수시민에게 다양한 문화예술공간을 제공할 수 있는 시설을 확보하고 강화하는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다. 둘째, 여수시의 문화예술행정에 대해 불만족하고 있는 것으로 나타나 성공적인 문화예술도시 추진과 세계엑스포의 성공적 개최를 위해 지역주민이 참여하고 호응할 수 있는 행정을 진행해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 셋째, 여수시의 문화예술도시의 추진방향은 2012 세계엑스포 진행과정과 세계 엑스포 이후 설립된 시설에 대하여 소규모의 문화예술행사를 수행할 수 있는 공간의 확충과 손쉬운 임대와 대관의 전략수립이 필요하다. 또한 여수지역의 문화예술인에게 창작과 예술 활동과 여수시민의 문화예술에 대한 참여의 기회를 확대하는 것이 필요하다고 분석된다.

우리나라에서 두 번째로 개최된 2012여수세계박람회는 해양을 주제로 2012년 5월부터 8월까지 전남 여수시에서 열렸고, 여러 측면에서 성공적인 메가 이벤트로 평가를 받고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 여수세계박람회 유치 및 개최를 전후로 해외 언론은 여수를 어떻게 보도해 왔는가를 시기별로, 동 서양으로 구분하여 비교 분석하는 것이다. 분석 결과, 해외 언론들은 여수세계박람회를 기술적 첨단성과 문화적 독창성을 접목시켜 주제를 효율적으로 구현한 엑스포로 평가하였다. 특히 엑스포 유치 전 단계에서는 여수를 한국의 남쪽 끝에 위치한 작은 항구로 보도하였지만, 엑스포 유치 이후 및 개최과정에서는 여수를 엑스포를 개최한 발전 잠재력을 아름다운 항구 도시이자 아시아 무역항로의 중심이며 해양생태 복원의 중심도시로 보도하였다. 이런 해외 언론의 보도 내용과 태도는 엑스포 개최가 여수의 국제적인 도시이미지 변화에 일정한 기여를 하였다고 평가할 수 있다.

본 연구는 2012년 여수세계박람회장의 사후활용에 대한 현재의 진행 사항과 국민들의 인식 정도를 살펴보고, 이에 따른 사후활용시설의 비시장가치를 추정하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 여수세계박람회장의 사후활용 조성 방향에 대해 살펴 본 후 현재 추진이 지연되고 있는 사후활용 추진 현황에 대해 검토해 보았다. 또한 일반 국민들이 여수세계박람회장 사후활용에 대한 인식도 조사를 위해 전국에서 900명의 표본을 선출하여 여수세계박람회장의 방문의사 등의 설문을 수행하였다. 그리고 이와 아울러 조건부가치측정법(CVM)을 이용하여 여수세계박람회장의 비시장가치를 추정하였다. 추정 결과 여수세계박람회장 사후활용시설은 연간 508억원, 5년간 총 2,171억원인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 여수세계박람회장의 사후활용시설이 잠재적 가치가 매우 크며, 정부는 향후 추진방향의 설정이 이를 고려할 필요가 있다는 점을 암시하고 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to estimate a probability to visit the Yeosu Aquarium with an ordered logit model. Ordered logit model is affordable to estimate the probability when the dependant variable represents likert-type scale. The estimated results are as follows. The more income induces the visiting-expectation. The experience for another aquarium and the visiting-expectation for the Yeosu EXPO are contributed to the visiting-expectation for the Yeosu Aquarium. The needs to visit the Yeosu Aquarium is low in Kyoungsang area and Seoul-Kyounggi-Incheun Metropolitan area. This is related to the Aquarium facilities, which were established in each area. In average level conditions regarding to all independent variables the probability to visit the Yeosu Aquarium is calculated to 15.75%. However, the probability to visit to the Yeosu Aquarium is decreasing according to the change of an admission fee.

The purpose of this thesis was to design and develop restaurant uniforms for Yeosu and Suncheon-City using local cultural resources by investigating the present situation of restaurant uniforms. The study was conducted through literature review and practical research on uniform designs. The practical research included investigating and analyzing the recent uniform designs of 60 spots in both cities and the preference of local cultural resources, finally suggesting eight restaurant uniform designs and four original samples. It was found that most workers in both cities wore shirts and pants or aprons as uniforms and also that the restaurant uniforms had many problems, such as poor designs, functionality, and the lack of local characteristics. According to these results, a design concept called 'Colorful Night Sea' was built for Yeosu using a design motive of a Yeosu Expo symbol, a Big-O Show shape, and Dolsan Gat flowers. For Suncheon-city, a design concept called 'A Rural Landscape' was built using a design motive of Nagan Eupseong and a field of reeds in Suncheon Bay. The restaurant uniform items included a top (shirt or blouse), pants, apron, and headdress in both cities. This study is meaningful as it helped improve the local image and economic situation, by proposing distinct uniforms designed by using local cultural resources.

This study is on the formation and the development process of urban space by referring to the literature in Yeosu where is the important location in logistics & transportation and maritime since the Japanese colonial period. There are many factors and results of the development process in Yeosu by the opening port, railroads, loads and industries. The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the formation process of urban space and the characteristics of physical space in Yeosu. The results are as follow; The urban formation and development process in Yeosu where was a small fishing village in the 1910s is largely divided into four processes. Formation: the population increased due to constructions such as of a railroad, a port, and roads and there were many reclamations around the center of the old city center in the Japanese colonial period. Stagnation: There was no urban development due to stagnation, war, and the Yeo-sun Incident. Expand: the industrialization of the Yeocheon Industrial Complex and Gwangyang Steel and other areas around Yeosu led to a surge in Yeosu's population. To cope with this, the city was expanded through three land readjustment projects and the development of large-scale residential complexes. Decline and Remodeling: Yeosu's urban space declined due to the decline of fisheries and the decrease in marine and railway logistics. And the expansion and improvement of the transportation network for hosting the Yeosu World Expo increased the accessibility of the old city center, transforming it into a tourist city using cultural heritage and nature.

이 연구는 광양만권에 위치한 여수시·순천시·광양시 등 3개 도시 간 도시체계 및 공간구조 변화를 고찰한 것이다. 중앙정부가 광양만권에서 수행한 대규모 개발사업, 1960년대 중반 제2정유공장 건설, 1980년대 중반 POSCO 광양제철소 준공, 1987년 시작된 광양항컨테이부두 착공과 2003년 광양만권경제자유구역 지정, 2012년 여수세계박람회 개최 등에 힘입어 3개 도시의 산업화와 도시화가 진행되어 광양만권은 우리나라 대표적인 임해형 산업벨트를 형성한다. 그러나 역사적으로 순천은 광양만권을 포함한 전남 동부지역에서 독점적인 중심지 기능을 수행하였다. 중앙정부가 추진한 전술한 개발사업은 광양만권에 위치한 3개 도시 간 도시체계와 공간구조를 순천 중심의 단핵형에서 네트워크형으로 변화를 만들어낸다. 그리고 2012여수세계박람회 개최 이후 3개 도시 간 연결성과 통합성이 강화되면서 광양만권 공간구조는 네트워크형 공간구조로 재편되고 있고, 이런 추세는 향후 더욱 강화될 것으로 전망된다.
