  • In this paper, we deal with an allocation model of vertical type container yard for minimizing the total ATC work time and the equivalence of ATC work´s load in each block on automated container terminal. Firstly, a layout of automated container terminal yard is shown. The characteristic of equipment which is operated in the terminal and basic assumption are given. Next, an allocation model which concerns with minimizing the total work time and the equivalence of work´s load is proposed for the effectiveness of ATC work in automated container terminal. Also, a weight values on critical function are suggested to adjust the critical values by evaluating the obtained allocation plan. To find the solution of allocation model in given terminal yard situation, a GA is applied, where the real information of container is used ...

  • In this study, the evaluation for utilization of waste landfill was performed by field test to use waste landfill as construction site(Nangido in Seoul). The site where dynamic compaction test was carried out was divided by 4 yards. Yard 1, 2 were not eliminated widening of cover soil and Yard 3, 4 were eliminated it. Dynamic Compaction Pilot Test was carried out by the 15ton heavy tamper with drop height of 20m in Yard 1, 3 and with drop height of 15m in Yard 2, 4 We evaluated the compaction ability, optimum compaction number and noiseㆍvibration through field test, monitoring. To make use of waste landfill as a construction site, The dynamic compaction method is suitable for using in waste landfill as a construction site among the ground improvement methods.

  • Cai-go management facility of harbor are required an expansion due to increase of cargo quantity. Design technology of Yard AGV call be possible to deal many cargo rapidly and accurately. So it is produced a profit about cal-go management. This study is presented optimum of suspension parameter for design technology Yard AGV. Model I, II are modeled about Initial of container weight, height. When the maximum stroke of suspension is 0.26m, optimum is achieved to reduce the reaction force at the minimum. Also, the reaction force is study to become stability in I second. A change of spring constant and coefficient of damper make change the reaction force and minimum reaction force appear in optimum value. All modeling and analysis are used combination. contact element of Ansys program.

  • The synchronized operation of a quay crane(QC) and a transfer crane(TC) increases the productivity of a container terminal. In this paper, analytical models are suggested for the optimal number and the optimal operation of the yard trucks (YTs) which travel between a quay crane and a transfer crane in a container terminal. YT may represent yard tractor, AGV and shuttle carrier. The analytical models are so simple and useful that the analysis and the results of this paper can be used not only in container terminal practices but also in many other application fields.

  • During the design process of a terminal, the handling capacity of a container yard needs to be evaluated in advance. This study suggests formulas for estimating the expectations and the variances of cycle times for various types of operations of a yard crane. Statistical analysis is used to estimate the expectations and variances. The main focus of this study is to show the impact of interdependencies among handling time elements on the expectation and variance of the cycle times; these interdependencies have not been considered in previous studies. Numerical experiments are done for evaluating the difference in the variance of cycle times and the waiting of trucks between the cases with and without the consideration of interdependencies.

  • The motivation of this study is the recent advancement of the Straddle Carrier (S/C). Previously Straddle Carrier (S/C) system was used focusing on container lift on/off due to its lower driving speed than that of (Y/T). Shuttle Carrier is evaluated as an upgraded Straddle Carrier. Recently, however, the driving speed of (S/C) has been improved to the level of Yard Tractor and Trailer systems (Y/T), which is 30Km per hour which makes (S/C) qualified as terminal in-yard transportation equipment. This paper, therefore, aims to evaluate three types of terminal in-yard transportation equipments such as (Y/T), (AGV) and the advanced (S/C) from economic perspective. The results revealed that by observing the total costs of equipment, (S/C) is a cheaper option than (Y/T) over 20 years, and than (AGV) over 6 years.

  • It's important to operate the yard for improving to the productivity in container terminal effectively. Because the automated container terminal(ACT) has storage yard of automation and horizon, it's character is different from conventional terminal. As the automation yard in ACT is operated by the automated equipments, it needs to an efficient storage plan which is connected the automated equipment, the external truck, the shipment etc.. Hut the traditional method of storage plan is the space assignment problem. The efficiency of yard decreases and it is brought about increase of shipment time, because real-time automated equipments and present yard status is not reflected in. In order to solve this problems, we propose the algorithm for real-time storage location of container considering shipment plan, yard status and the state of ATC.

  • Port operation is largely divided into gate operation, yard operation and berth operation. Operation strategy and optimal resource allocation for three parts are important in the productivity of the port operation.. Especially the resource allocation planning in berth operation needs optimization, because it is directly connected with the processing time in shipping. Berth planning is not independent on recourse allocation but interrelated with yard stacking area allocation. Therefore, we design the optimized module of berth planning and give priority to interrelationship with yard space allocation, while existing studies design independent resource allocation in berth planning. We suggest constraints by mathematical method, and they are related to yard stacking area allocation with existing constraints. Then we look for solutions, use tabu search to optimize them, and design optimized the berth planning module. In the performance test of optimized module design of berth planning, we find that the berth planning with yard stacking area allocation takes less processing time than without yard stacking area allocation.

  • Mineralization of organic N is an important factor in determining the appropriate rate for organic waste application to cropland. The mineralization of organic N was examined using sandy soil amended with three kind of compost (municipal solid waste+biosolid, yard trimmings, yard trimmings+biosolid), respectively. During the 12-week incubation, the mineralization of organic N was determined by analyzing the inorganic N in leachates from unamended and amended soils. Soils amended with com posts made of biosolid had higher initial $NH_4-N$ concentration than unamended soil. Soil amended with compost made of yard trimmings only had slightly lower initial inorganic N concentration than unamended soil. In the soil amended with com post made of yard trimmings+biosolid, however, nitrification rate was enhanced in the first week of incubation. Net N mineralization and nitrification were positive in all treatments. Although the greatest net N mineralization occurred in the soil amended with compost made of yard trimmings+biosolid, the greatest net mineralization and nitrification rates occurred in unamended soil.
