  • The 3.2~6.5 GHz wideband YTO(YIG Tuned Oscillator) module is designed, fabricated and measured. To improve the phase noise characteristic of the YTO module, offset PLL(Phase Locked Loop) structure with sampling mixer is applied. This YTO module is composed of sampling mixer, phase detector, loop filter, current driver, and YTO. The phase noise of the fabricated YTO module is measured as -100 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset frequency, which approximates the predicted result at the center frequency of 4.5 GHz. This YTO module presents over 10 dB improved phase noise compared to conventional PLL module from operating frequency.

  • The low phase noise and wideband frequency synthesizer has been designed by using YTO. Offset PLL structure is used for reducing a division ratio of feedback loop. The phase noise modeling is applied to optimize loop filter of PLL and YTO module. And DDS is used as reference signal of frequency synthesizer for fine resolution. The fabricated wideband frequency synthesizer has the output frequency of 3.2 GHz to 6.8 GHz, phase noise of -107 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset from the carrier and frequency resolution of 1 Hz. The measured phase noise is well agreed with the simulated one.

  • In this paper, a broadband tunable YIG(Yittrium Iron Garnet) oscillator is designed and fabricated. To design an YTO(YIG Tuned Oscillator), a suitable YIG resonator is selected according to the design oscillation range and its equivalent R, L, C resonant circuit parameters are obtained through the measurement of its resonance characteristic. Using the equivalent circuit, the wideband topology which suppresses the parasitic oscillation is selected and implemented. The designed circuit is simulated by HBT(Harmoic Balance Technique) using EEsof's jOMEGA. The YTO thus fabricated has the wide oscillation range from 1.4 GHz to 4 GHz, and its linearity is 0.5% in the oscillation range. The phase noise is below 105dBc at 100kHz offset.

  • In this paper, we have designed a microwave level meter based on the FM-CW radar theory using a YIG-tuned oscillator (YTO). YTO has an excellent frequency linearity, so a linearizer circuit is not necessary for the level meter. It is shown that interference signals reflected from nearby obstacles can be removed by using a digital band-pass filter. An FIR band-pass filter is designed using the Kaiser window. The distance measurement has been performed in the outdoor test field. The measurement data have been obtained for the range of 1~40m with 1m step, and the results show that the standard deviation of the measured data is 2.33 cm. The level meter manufactured in this study can be applied usefully in the industrial facilities which are not accessible easily, for example, to measure the level of molten metal in the iron and steel company.

  • The study aimed at trying to contribute to domestic floral designers by analyzing colors' images of 60 floral designs of British floral designers, Shane Connolly and Paula Pryke, as the basis for color scheme of floral space design. The result of color analysis, Shane Connolly uses colors in the frequency of color order of the GY>Y>RP>YR>P>P>PB and Paula Pryke uses colors in the frequency of color order of the GY>RP>P>YR,Y>G>PB. The result of coordinate analysis of hue, value, chrome, Shane Connolly's works showed high frequency in the YtoGY color, the middle and high of value and the middle and high of chrome. Paula Pryke's works showed high frequency in the GY color and PtoRP color, the wide areas of the 3.8 ~9 stages of value, and the middle and high of chrome. The result of adjective image scale, Shane Connolly's works were found to be in between soft and static adjective zone, and Paula Pryke's works were distributed in between soft and active zone.
