Stock Market Prediction Using Sentiment on YouTube Channels (유튜브 주식채널의 감성을 활용한 코스피 수익률 등락 예측)

  • Recently in Korea, YouTube stock channels increased rapidly due to the high social interest in the stock market during the COVID-19 period. Accordingly, the role of new media channels such as YouTube is attracting attention in the process of generating and disseminating market information. Nevertheless, prior studies on the market forecasting power of YouTube stock channels remain insignificant. In this study, the market forecasting power of the information from the YouTube stock channel was examined and compared with traditional news media. To measure information from each YouTube stock channel and news media, positive and negative opinions were extracted. As a result of the analysis, opinion in channels operated by media outlets were found to be leading indicators of KOSPI market returns among YouTube stock channels. The prediction accuracy by using logistic regression model show 74%. On the other hand, Sampro TV, a popular YouTube stock channel, and the traditional news media simply reported the market situation of the day or instead showed a tendency to lag behind the market. This study is differentiated from previous studies in that it verified the market predictive power of the information provided by the YouTube stock channel, which has recently shown a growing trend in Korea. In the future, the results of advanced analysis can be confirmed by expanding the research results for individual stocks.

  • This study was conducted as part of a phased study aimed at closely examining the mutual ecosystem between creators and viewers through paying attention to the personal media environment that is in the center of rapid changes in the media industry and particularly exploring the areas of activity of the single-person or minority media creators who lead the mobile media environment that could be accessed, viewed and produced anywhere. In particular, this study aimed to not only pay attention to the situation in which the potential to expand professional YouTuber areas encounters the changing desire and demand of content service users who continue to become more evolved as time passes, but also examine the influence of the reputation of professional YouTubers on users' loyalty and subscription intention, examine the moderating effect of sincerity on the relationship between YouTubers and users, and demonstrate such relationship formation process based on concrete data. In the conclusion section, implications that can be drawn from the study results and suggestions for further studies in the future were proposed.

Analyzing Comments of YouTube Video to Measure Use and Gratification Theory Using Videos of Trot Singer, Cho Myung-sub (YouTube 동영상 의견분석을 통한 사용과 충족 이론 측정 : 트로트 가수 조명섭 동영상을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to present a qualitative research method for extracting and analyzing the comments written by YouTube video users. To do this, we used YouTube users' feedback to measure the hedonic, social, and utilitarian gratification of use and gratification theory(UGT) through by using analysis and topic modeling. The result of the measurement found that the first reason why users watch the trot singer, Cho Myung-sub's video in the KBS Korean broadcasting channel is to achieve hedonic gratification with high frequency. In word-document network analysis, the degree of centrality was high in words, such as 'cheering', 'thank you', 'fighting', and 'best'. Betweenness centrality is similar to the degree of centrality. Eigenvector centrality also shows that words such as 'love', 'heart', and 'thank you' are the most influential words of users' opinions. The results of the centrality analysis present that the majority of video users show their 'love', 'heart' and 'thank you' for the video. it indicates that the high words in centrality analysis is consistent with the high frequency words of hedonic and social gratification dimension of the UGT. The study has research methodological implication that shed light on the motivations for watching YouTube videos with UGT using text mining techniques that automate qualitative analysis, rather than following a survey-based structural equation model.

Online-Based Local Government Image Typology: A Case Study on Jakarta Provincial Government Official YouTube Videos

  • The Jakarta Provincial Government utilizes the YouTube channel to interact with citizens and enhance transparency. The purpose of this study is to explore online perceptions of local government image perceived by online audiences through the YouTube platform. The concepts of organizational image and credibility in the political image are adapted to analyze online public perceptions on the Jakarta Provincial Government image. Using the video summarization approach on Three hundred and forty-six official YouTube videos, which were uploaded from 1 March 2016 to 31 May 2016, and content analysis of Eight thousand two hundred and thirty-seven comments, this study shows both political and bureaucratic image emerge concurrently in the Jakarta Provincial Government case. The typology model is proposed to describe and explain the four image variations that occurred in the case study. Practical recommendations are suggested to manage YouTube channel as one of the social media used in the local government context.

Decide how much you want the Internet to be a part of each area of your life and then allocate time accordingly. 3.   • 최근 N스크린 세대의 새로운 소비 주도층인 밀레니얼세대(10대~20대 초반)의 증가로 모바일 YouTube 동영상 시청자가 증가하였다. 이로 인해 광고 노출 가능성이 높아지고 있어 YouTube 인스트림 광고가 광고주들의 높은 주목을 받고 있다. 그러나 현재 광고 게재에 따른 정확한 노출 효과에 대한 연구 분석 자료는 현저히 부족하다. 이에 모바일 YouTube 동영상 시청자 수가 가장 높은 10대~20대 초반을 대상으로 국내 YouTube 인스트림 광고 사례 10개를 선정하여 선택적 시청에 따른 시청자들의 행태 파악과 광고 몰입도를 분석해 보았다. 분석 결과 소구 유형별 광고 몰입도는 이성소구보다 감성소구가 컸으며, 그 중 유머소구의 광고 몰입도가 가장 크게 나타났다. 본 연구 결과가 향후 광고 노출 효과를 높이는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

Exploring K-League Club's YouTube Channel: Focusing on Seoul E-Land Football Club

  • Soccer is one of the popular sports globally, and South Korea is no exception; the professional domestic soccer tournament has been held in South Korea since 1983. The national soccer team in South Korea has shown outstanding performances, hosting the 2002 World Cup and achieving a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games and second place at the 2019 U-20 World Cup. In addition, one of the South Korean soccer players, Heung-min Son, has played a remarkable role in the English Premier League. Like other global soccer clubs, South Korean domestic soccer clubs create and manage their own YouTube channel to interact with fans and keep them updated. In this study, we explore how and why Seoul E-Land Football Club (SEFC) utilizes its YouTube channel. SEFC is distinctive in that they are playing at the second division, their home ground is based in Seoul, and they are sponsored by a company run on Christian values. We analyze one of the soccer club's YouTube channels multi-dimensionally and discover the roles of YouTube.
