  • Recently, intelligent control systems are developing rapidly in various application fields, and methods for utilizing technologies such as deep learning, IoT, and cloud computing for intelligent control systems are being studied. An important technology in an intelligent control system is recognizing and tracking objects in images. However, existing multi-object tracking technology has problems in accuracy and speed. In this paper, a real-time intelligent control system was implemented using YOLO v5 and YOLO v6 based on a one-shot architecture that increases the accuracy of object tracking and enables fast and accurate tracking even when objects overlap each other or when there are many objects belonging to the same class. The experiment was evaluated by comparing YOLO v5 and YOLO v6. As a result of the experiment, the YOLO v6 model shows performance suitable for the intelligent control system.

  • One of the difficult works in an autonomous driving system is detecting road lanes or objects in the road boundaries. Detecting and tracking a vehicle is able to play an important role on providing important information in the framework of advanced driver assistance systems such as identifying road traffic conditions and crime situations. This paper proposes a vehicle detection scheme based on deep learning to classify and tracking vehicles in a complex and diverse environment. We use the modified YOLO as the object detector and polynomial regression as object tracker in the driving video. With the experimental results, using YOLO model as deep learning model, it is possible to quickly and accurately perform robust vehicle tracking in various environments, compared to the traditional method.

  • Aiming at the serious occlusion and slow tracking speed in pedestrian target tracking and recognition in complex scenes, a target tracking method based on improved YOLO v5 combined with Deep SORT is proposed. By merging the attention mechanism ECA-Net with the Neck part of the YOLO v5 network, using the CIoU loss function and the method of CIoU non-maximum value suppression, connecting the Deep SORT model using Shuffle Net V2 as the appearance feature extraction network to achieve lightweight and fast speed tracking and the purpose of improving tracking under occlusion. A large number of experiments show that the improved YOLO v5 increases the average precision by 1.3% compared with other algorithms. The improved tracking model, MOTA reaches 54.3% on the MOT17 pedestrian tracking data, and the tracking accuracy is 3.7% higher than the related algorithms and The model presented in this paper improves the FPS by nearly 5 on the fps indicator.

  • This paper presents an vulnerable road user (VRU) classification and tracking algorithm using vision and LiDAR sensor fusion method for urban autonomous driving. The classification and tracking for vulnerable road users such as pedestrian, bicycle, and motorcycle are essential for autonomous driving in complex urban environments. In this paper, a real-time object image detection algorithm called Yolo and object tracking algorithm from LiDAR point cloud are fused in the high level. The proposed algorithm consists of four parts. First, the object bounding boxes on the pixel coordinate, which is obtained from YOLO, are transformed into the local coordinate of subject vehicle using the homography matrix. Second, a LiDAR point cloud is clustered based on Euclidean distance and the clusters are associated using GNN. In addition, the states of clusters including position, heading angle, velocity and acceleration information are estimated using geometric model free approach (GMFA) in real-time. Finally, the each LiDAR track is matched with a vision track using angle information of transformed vision track and assigned a classification id. The proposed fusion algorithm is evaluated via real vehicle test in the urban environment.

  • Typical algorithms of deep learning include CNN(Convolutional Neural Networks), which are mainly used for image recognition, and RNN(Recurrent Neural Networks), which are used mainly for speech recognition and natural language processing. Among them, CNN is able to learn from filters that generate feature maps with algorithms that automatically learn features from data, making it mainstream with excellent performance in image recognition. Since then, various algorithms such as R-CNN and others have appeared in object detection to improve performance of CNN, and algorithms such as YOLO(You Only Look Once) and SSD(Single Shot Multi-box Detector) have been proposed recently. However, since these deep learning-based detection algorithms determine the success of the detection in the still images, stable object tracking and detection in the video requires separate tracking capabilities. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of combining Kalman filters into deep learning-based detection networks for improved object tracking and detection performance in the video. The detection network used YOLO v2, which is capable of real-time processing, and the proposed method resulted in 7.7% IoU performance improvement over the existing YOLO v2 network and 20 fps processing speed in FHD images.

  • Traffic volume is gradually increasing due to the development of technology and the concentration of people in cities. As the results, traffic congestion and traffic accidents are becoming social problems. Detecting and tracking a vehicle based on computer vision is a great helpful in providing important information such as identifying road traffic conditions and crime situations. However, vehicle detection and tracking using a camera is affected by environmental factors in which the camera is installed. In this paper, we thus propose a deep learning based on vehicle classification and tracking scheme to classify and track vehicles in a complex and diverse environment. Using YOLO model as deep learning model, it is possible to quickly and accurately perform robust vehicle tracking in various environments, compared to the traditional method.

  • This paper proposes a new method using multi-layer overlapped windows to improve the performance of YOLO network which is vulnerable to detect small dense objects. In particular, the proposed method uses the YOLO Network based on the multi-layer overlapped windows to track small dense vehicles that approach from long distances. The method improves the detection performance for location and size of small vehicles. It allows crossing area of two multi-layer overlapped windows to track moving vehicles from a long distance to a short distance. And the YOLO network is optimized so that GPU computation time due to multi-layer overlapped windows should be reduced. The superiority of the proposed algorithm has been proved through various experiments using captured images from road surveillance cameras.

  • In this paper, we implemented a deep learning-based automatic object tracking and handy motion control drone system and analyzed the performance of the proposed system. The drone system automatically detects and tracks targets by analyzing images obtained from the drone's camera using deep learning algorithms, consisting of the YOLO, the MobileNet, and the deepSORT. Such deep learning-based detection and tracking algorithms have both higher target detection accuracy and processing speed than the conventional color-based algorithm, the CAMShift. In addition, in order to facilitate the drone control by hand from the ground control station, we classified handy motions and generated flight control commands through motion recognition using the YOLO algorithm. It was confirmed that such a deep learning-based target tracking and drone handy motion control system stably track the target and can easily control the drone.

  • Recently, as the number of households raising pets increases due to the increase of single households, there is a need for a system for monitoring the status or behavior of pets. There are regional limitations in the monitoring of pets using domestic CCTVs, which requires a large number of CCTVs or restricts the behavior of pets. In this paper, we propose a mobile system for detecting and tracking cats using deep learning to solve the regional limitations of pet monitoring. We use YOLO (You Look Only Once), an object detection neural network model, to learn the characteristics of pets and apply them to Raspberry Pi to track objects detected in an image. We have designed a mobile monitoring system that connects Raspberry Pi and a laptop via wireless LAN and can check the movement and condition of cats in real time.
