Comparative Study on the Fabrication of Single Grain YBCO Bulk Superconductors using Liquid Infiltration and Conventional Melt Growth Processes (단결정 YBCO 벌크 초전도체 제조에 대한 액상침투법과 고전적 용융공정의 비교연구)

  • With an aim of comparison, single grain Y-Ba-Cu-O (YBCO) bulk superconductors were fabricated using a liquid infiltration growth (LIG) process and a conventional melt growth (MTG) process with top seeding. The MTG process uses an $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(Y123) powder as a precursor, while the LIG process uses $Y_2BaCuO_5(Y211)/Ba_3Cu_5O_8(Y035)$ pre-forms. The growth of a single Y123 domain on the top seed was successful in the both processes. Different feature between the two processes is the interior microstructure regarding the critical current density ($J_c$). The LIG-processed YBCO sample showed a lower porosity, more uniform distribution of Y211 particles and the enhanced Y211 refinement compared to the conventional MTG process. The $J_c$ improvement in the LIG process is attributed to the dispersion of finer Y211 particles as well as lower porosity within the Y123 superconducting matrix.

  • In the YBCO matrix, 10wt.% Y$_2$BaCuO$\_$5/ (211 phase) was added, the final 211 content of YBCO made by MTG process could reach about 20wt.% which was the optimum value for the critical current density. And also 10wt.% Ag was added in the matrix of YBCO, which was nearly about the saturate solubility of silver in textured YBCO. SmBaCuO crystal was grown by the melted-condensed process. A 5${\times}$5${\times}$2㎣ single crystal of SmBaCuO was used to be the seed in the preparation of YBCO. It was proved the orientation of YBCO was the same as the orientation of the SmBaCuO seed. The oxygen absorption of bulk oriented YBCO was studied and the heat treatment of oxygen absorption would be in flowing oxygen, at 400$^{\circ}C$ for about 24 hours. the magnetic hysteresis loops were measured by Vibrating Smaple Magnetometer and the J$\_$c/ was calcuated by means of Bean's model.

  • Currently, most of the chlorine dioxide gas is processed at the beginning of storage or distribution. It has the disadvantage of not being able to continuously process gas since there is no system that can continuously process it during the distribution process. Therefore, in order to minimize changes in freshness and quality during the distribution process of agrifood, there is a need for a sustained-release chlorine dioxide gas treatment technology that can be continuously released. Therefore, in this study, the film to be used was examined so that the chlorine dioxide gas can be continuously released for a certain period of time, the concentration of the reactant and the viscosity at the time of the reaction were determined, and a chlorine dioxide gas gel pack was manufactured using this optimal condition. In addition, the gel pack was used to measure the amount of chlorine dioxide gas released and the sterilization effect of food poisoning bacteria.

  • Vacuum carburizing process is well known process for its environment-friendly, low-cost, high-quality characteristics, compared with gas carburizing. In this study, a research was carried out to develop a process of vacuum carburizing for essential components of automotive transmission that is difficult to control its distortion. As a result, vacuum carburizing process is superior to gas carburizing in terms of cost, environment and quality.

  • Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O(Bi-2212) thick films were fabricated on Y211 substrate by screen printing method. The aim of the study was to fabricate superconducting thick films on Y211 substrate by MPMG process. For this study, patterned samples by screen printing method were heated with MPMG process. The thickness of Bi2212 on substrate was about 20 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and these samples showed many Bi- 2212 phases.

  • In an attempt to reduce processing cost and to improve resolution of PDPs, micro mold transfer processing route for barrier ribs of plasma display panel was attempted. In this study, the parameters that may cause defects during the process were identified, which include the shrinkage during UV curing process, stress due to evaporation of organic components, and sintering shrinkage. Considering such parameters, UV curable paste was developed and barrier ribs of PDPs were successfully processed via the process. This work demonstrated the possibility of build-up route in manufacturing barrier ribs of PDP.

  • The formation of the $YBa_2Cu_30_{7_\delta}$(Y123) thick films has been investigated by a surface diffusion Imcess between $3BaCu0_2$+2CuO composite coating powder and a $Y_2BaCuO_5$(Y211). This reaction has been studied in the temperature of $930^{\circ}C$ and $940^{\circ}C$ for 2h to 10h in an oxygen atmosphere. The Y211 substrates becomes covered by co-precipitation of Y123 grains and CuO inclusions. X-ray diflractotnctn. revealed that the lager consisted of an orthorhombic crystal structure. The maximum Jc of $400A/\textrm{cm}^2$ is abtained when the specimen was heat-treated at $930^{\circ}C$ for 6h on the Y211 substrate.
