A Path Combining Strategy for Efficient Storing of XML Documents (XML 문서의 효율적인 저장을 위한 경로 통합 기법)

  • As XML is increasingly used, the need of researches which are related with XML in various fields is also augmented. Many XML document management systems have been actively developed especially for the storage, processing and retrieval of XML documents. The BitCube is a three dimensional bitmap index system that could be manipulated efficiently and improves the performance of document retrieval. However, the site of index is increase rapidly, when a new bit is added to the axis. This problem is caused by its three dimensional memory structure with document, path and word. We suggest a path combining strategy of XML documents in this paper to solve the problem of BitCube that mentioned above. To reduce the size of index, our approach combines sibling nodes that has same ancestor paths, and transforms word axis into value axis. The method reduces the size of index, when the system com poses the three dimensional bitmap index. It also improves the speed of retrieving, and takes efficiency in storage space.

  • As computer-related technologies have been developed, legacy design systems have not been appropriate for new computing environment. Therefore, it is necessary that most of them are either modified or newly developed. However, this requires quite much amount of cost and time. This paper presents a method of extending legacy design system without modification using XML and XSLT. In order to apply the developed method, a good example of legacy design systems, AGMA gear rating system has been extended so as to be suitable for the distributed computing environment. An XML document for AGMA gear rating process is defined. It is transformed to the form of the input document of AGMA gear rating system by XSLT processor according to the transformation rules defined in the AGMA gear rating XSLT document. After that, AGMA gear rating system reads this input document and generates an output document in the server. These operations are automatically executed by the external legacy system controller without user interactions. Using these operations, AGMA gear rating web service has been developed based on SOAP and WSDL to provide the functions of legacy AGMA gear rating system through the distributed network. Any system or user can implement AGMA gear rating process independently to the platform type, without making it for oneself, by simply referring the AGMA gear rating web service via Internet.

  • The XML that was proposed as a next-generation standard for describing Web documents is widely used in various Web-based applications. In addition, XML documents on the Web link each other by hyperlinks. The current works on XML focus on the XML storage system that can efficiently store, manage, and retrieve XML documents. However, the research on the query language that supports the XML links and on the XML retrieval systems to process the XML links, is little conducted until now. In this paper, we propose an extension of an XML query language for expressing the XML link query and its processing scheme. A link query is to retrieve contents from an XML document (a query document) and from the XML documents (referenced documents) that are referred to by the links in the query document. As far as retrieving from the referenced documents is concerned, the current practice is to manually generate queries to get the partial results, and to repeat such a procedure. The purpose of link query processing in this paper is to eliminate the manual work altogether in getting the complete query result. The performance analysis shows that our link query processing strategy outperforms the conventional approach including the manual tasks. The more links to the referenced documents and the more referenced documents there are in the site storing the query document, the more query processing time decreases.

  • A methodology for XML documentation of the structural calculation document is presented to support manipulation of the design information on the internet. The text file format is chosen as a neutral format because it can be easily translated from office documents generated from engineering practice. The first word of each line is compared with the reserved numbering groups, and relative levels among the lines are defined to generate the hierarchically structured XML document of the text file. The demonstration subjected to sample general documents and structural calculation documents shows that the prototype application module based on the developed methodology can be adopted to build the database of design information which supports the safety management of infrastructures.

  • In engineering design environment it is hard to link design data and system because the types of them are disparate. Therefore, the importance of metadata has increased. Some researches have been executed to develop metadata. But they cannot interact with other metadata and are difficult to extend. The purpose of this paper is to develop a common metadata structure which represents the general information of mechanical part assembly using XML, and to use it as base documents in order to integrate design data and systems. It is composed of part and assembly documents. Part document represents the information of a part independently to part type. Assembly document represents the location of part documents which compose an assembly. Common documents can be used as a broker between design data and systems and improve interpretability and reusability of document. We applied the developed common document structure to 2-stage spur gear drive.

  • XML(extensible Markup Language) is effective to information retrieval and sharing but has defects related to the data security. And, as a solution of this problem, the current XML security researches such as XML digital signature, XML data encryption, and XML access control exclude the validation property of XML document. The validation of XML should be considered for the secure information sharing in the XML-based environment. In this paper, we design and implement the system to support both security and validation to XML document. Our system performs data encryption and maintenance of valid status of XML document by referencing new XML schema namespace. In addition, it also provides the XML schema security function through the XML schema digital signature. During generating XML schema digital signature, DOMHash method which has the advantage of the faster speed than canonical XML method is applied to XML schema. In conclusion, our system shows the improved functions in flexibility, scalability, and reliability compared with the existing XML security researches.

  • XML (extensible Markup Language) is selected and published as a representative standard of electronic documents by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). The structured information can be created and also transferred in XML documents. By utilizing XML, you can express the meaningful information unit as a structure comparing existed file typed information. With structured information, you can also manage retrieve, and reposit documents. According to the above facts, in this paper, it is the purpose to design and implement XML documents repository system to reposit and retrieve using structured information of XML documents. As a model it was designed to be stored by element unit which is the basic unit of documents and was also designed to retrieve the stored XML information by structured unit. It was, especially, designed to manage and reposit the structure of various documents effectively through creating schema as to DTD(Document Type Definition) and instance.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method to describe and save Jeongganbo score which has various structures and symbols by using XML (Extensible Markup Language). To do this, analysis of Jeongganbo's structures, and classification of symbols for jeongganbo were preformed. Then, Jeongganbo DTD (Document Type Definition) was defined to describe Jeongganbo score in XML document. To verify the proposed method, we produced a Jeongganbo score XML file for real Jeongganbo score according to the proposed Jeongganbo DTD, and then evaluated the produced XML file by using Jeongganbo XML interpreter software which can interpret the Jeongganbo XML file and represent the Jeongganbo score.

  • XML is becoming a de facto standard for the representation and exchange of data, and XML itself is well structured to store and manage data, but it is difficult to understand the document structure at a glance due to its diverse and complex expressions. Thus, it is not appropriate to use it as a tool of conceptual model. In this paper, we propose a method to transform XML schema document structure into conceptual model. To do this, we describe CMXML as a conceptual modeling tool and present transformation rules and data structures for transforming an XML schema structure into CMXML diagram. In the transformation procedure, the XML schema document is input and the CMXML diagram is generated by applying the transformation rules.

  • Plain old Web Services came true a services integration with use the XML that will be able to define a platform-independent document format in basic document format. Hut, the XML document decreases the efficiency of the whole application program with connects frequently in relatively slow communication media like network environment, embedded system or use the resource limited small-sized instrument like mobile. In this paper, we implemented the algorism of Fast Infoset, which can convert XML into Fast XML using the Fast Inoset method and PER encoding rules in ASN.1 and constructs Test Bed. Also, it is compared with the existing pure XML message method in difference of process performance after encoding SOAP messages of XML basis when constructing web service.
