As XML has become an emerging standard for information exchange on the World Wide Web, it has gained attention in database communities to extract information from XML seen as a database model. XML queries are based on regular path queries, which find objects reachable by given regular expressions. To answer many kinds of user queries, it is necessary to evaluate queries that have multiple regular path expressions. However, previous work such as query rewriting and query optimization in the frame work of semistructured data has dealt with a single regular expression. For queries that have multiple regular expressions we suggest a two phase optimizing technique: 1. query rewriting using views by finding the mappings from the view's body to the query's body and 2. for rewritten queries, evaluating each query conjunct and combining them. We show that our rewriting algorithm is sound and our query evaluation technique is more efficient than the previous work on optimizing semistructured queries.

휴대폰이나 PDA 등의 모바일 장치들의 급속한 성장으로 무선 단말기에 적합한 WAP이 탄생하였다. 이에 따라 무선 접근을 위한 언어로 WML이 만들어졌다. 본 연구에서 XQuery 질의를 SQL문장으로 변환시켜서 수행함으로써 XML데이터에 대한 검색을 가능하게 하도록 한 질의 처리 시스템을 이용하여 무선 단말기에 검색 결과를 보여주는 방법을 연구하였다.

There have been many considerations to develop new content services that integrate a variety of contents databases being already constructed and then produce new content services which are more valuable than existing services in many applications such as Internet portal, EC, and CRM. By doing the above thing, the burden of searching databases to access interesting databases and service applications can be reduced and the database availability of users is also enhanced through a single view integrating multiple contents database. This paper presents implementation details of the query processing system that is a core component of the database integration system, which can construct a virtual database that integrates databases being managed by multiple heterogeneous database systems using XML data model and support a quay facility on the integrated database.

This paper's questions, and an automatic scoring system written in HTML, and XML-based system that is at issue, the issue questions in a convenient offline automatically how to register, Easy to manage questions of issues, questions and problems of merging the PC and the mobile device in a place that can be obtained without taking the test system study. Server systems, and real-time registration questions merging problem, such as difficulty adjusting to the test required to build the system. Clients communicate with the server using the mobile device and the PC is required to take the exam in the View application, and responses are sent for treatment research.

Nowadays, according to the change of educational environment, an alternative educational system, called cyber university system, is appeared. The appearance of the new system requires the new executive supports for administrative purposes. From this point of view, this paper tries to design and develop an XML-based document management system for the cyber university system. In order to manage and present the multimedia documents for Cyber university effectively, the proposed document management system is divided into 3 hierarchy structures: Generation of Documents, Storage of Documentation, and Search of Documentation. Based on our proposal for the system, the actual implementation is done for the demonstrative purpose. Both the construction of document manage system for the cyber university and modules for portal page are implemented using XML.

In this paper, we explain telecommunication services based on spoken language information technology. There are three different kinds of services. The first is based on Advanced Intelligent services(AIN). We built a Intelligent Peripheral(IP)with speech recognition, speech synthesis and VoiceXML interpreter. The second is based on KT-HUVOIS, a proprietary speech platform based on VoiceXML. The third is based on VoiceXML interpreter. We explain various services depending on these platforms in detail.

Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems. On the other hand, XML, which is a meta-language, provides meta-data types for representing and string objects. It make software development easy because it can represent various information and share information about the software analysis and design between developers, In this paper, we apply BitWiz, one of automated software generation systems, to a bid application and analyse this in UML point of view. Also, we briefly introduce an XML documentation from UML products and a verification method of XML documents from UML products.

W3C has developed the RDF standard for utilizing ontology in Web applications. This paper presents extracting, storing, and applying ontology on product data. The management and document information included in DWG files is focused as an example. By analyzing the relationship among the drawing data, the RDF schema is designed frist. Based on the schema ontology is extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we the schema ontology is extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we can reconfigure the sitemap of drawing data repositories. In this example, the users can select the view that he or she is interested in (e.g., designer, document, project). With such various views of an drawing data repository, the users can access the specific data more effectively.

In this paper, we propose an authoring methodology of differentiated instruction-learning materials in mathematics course using MathML and XSLT, and give utilizing suggestions of these materials as differentiated textbook and individual learning. Incorporating MathML into instruction-learning materials, there are many advantages such that view of the materials in web browser is improved since mathematical expressions are compatible with text, and an expression can be modified in more convenient way since the expression is represented in text format not an image. In authoring of differentiated materials, the author provides one document for various levels of students. Then, each level of materials is generated from the document via XSLT transformation. This enables author-driven progress control rather than student-driven which does in previous approaches, since students don't need to select components of the material.
