  • The purpose of this study is directly measure and evaluate about absorbed dose change according to nominal energy and electron cone or medical accelerator on isodose curve, percentage depth dose, contaminated X-ray, inhomogeneous tissue, oblique surface and irradiation on intracavitary that electron beam with high energy distributed in tissue, and it settled standard data of hish energy electron beam treatment, and offer to exactly data for new dote distribution modeling study based on experimental resuls and theory. Electron beam with hish energy of $6{\sim}20$ MeV is used that generated from medical linear accelerator (Clinac 2100C/D, Varian) for the experiment, andwater phantom and Farmer chamber md Markus chamber und for absorbe d dose measurement of electron beam, and standard absorbed dose is calculated by standard measurements of International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) TRS 277. Dose analyzer (700i dose distribution analyzer, Wellhofer), film (X-OmatV, Kodak), external cone, intracavitary cone, cork, animal compact bone and air were used for don distribution measurement. As the results of absorbed dose ratio increased while irradiation field was increased, it appeared maximum at some irradiation field size and decreased though irradiation field size was more increased, and it decreased greatly while energy of electron beam was increased, and scattered dose on wall of electron cone was the cause. In percentage depth dose curve of electron beam, Effective depth dose(R80) for nominal energy of 6, 9, 12, 16 and 20 MeV are 1.85, 2.93, 4.07, 5.37 and 6.53 cm respectively, which seems to be one third of electron beam energy (MeV). Contaminated X-ray was generated from interaction between electron beam with high energy and material, and it was about $0.3{\sim}2.3\%$ of maximum dose and increased with increasing energy. Change of depth dose ratio of electron beam was compared with theory by Monte Carlo simulation, and calculation and measured value by Pencil beam model reciprocally, and percentage depth dose and measured value by Pencil beam were agreed almost, however, there were a little lack on build up area and error increased in pendulum and multi treatment since there was no contaminated X-ray part. Percentage depth dose calculated by Monte Carlo simulation appeared to be less from all part except maximum dose area from the curve. The change of percentage depth dose by inhomogeneous tissue, maximum range after penetration the 1 cm bone was moved 1 cm toward to surface then polystyrene phantom. In case of 1 cm and 2 cm cork, it was moved 0.5 cm and 1 cm toward to depth, respectively. In case of air, practical range was extended toward depth without energy loss. Irradiation on intracavitary is using straight and beveled type cones of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 $cm{\phi}$, and maximum and effective $80\%$ dose depth increases while electron beam energy and size of electron cone increase. In case of contaminated X-ray, as the energy increase, straight type cones were more highly appeared then beveled type. The output factor of intracavitary small field electron cone was $15{\sim}86\%$ of standard external electron cone($15{\times}15cm^2$) and straight type was slightly higher then beveled type.

  • PURPOSES : About 35% of air pollutant is occurred from road transport. NOx is the primary pollutant. Recently, the importance of NOx removal has arisen in the world. $TiO_2$ is very efficient for removing NOx by photocatalytic reaction. The mechanism of removing NOx is the reaction of photocatalysis and solar energy. Therefore, $TiO_2$ in concrete need to be contacted with solar radiation to be activated. In general, $TiO_2$ concrete are produced by substitute $TiO_2$ as a part of concrete binder. However, 90% of $TiO_2$ in the photocatalysis can not contacted with the pollutant in the air and solar radiation. Coating and penetration method are attempted as the alternative of mixing method in order to locate $TiO_2$ to the surface of structure. METHODS : The goal of this study was to attempt to locate $TiO_2$ to the surface of concrete, so we can use the concrete in pavement construction. The distribution of $TiO_2$ along the depth were confirmed by basing on the comparison of $TiO_2$ compare by using the EDAX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). RESULTS : $TiO_2$ were distributed within 3mm from concrete surface. This distribution of $TiO_2$ is desirable, since the $TiO_2$ induce photocatalysis are located to where they can be contacted with the air pollutant and solar radiation. CONCLUSIONS : Nano size $TiO_2$ is easily penetration in the top 3mm of concrete surface. By the penetration $TiO_2$ concrete can be produced with the use of only 10% of $TiO_2$, by comparing the mixing types.

  • The automatic identification and classification of image-based weld defects is a difficult task due to the complex texture of the X-ray images of the weld defect. Several depth learning methods for automatically identifying welds were proposed and tested. In this work, four different depth convolutional neural networks were evaluated and compared on the 1631 image set. The concavity, undercut, bar defects, circular defects, unfused defects and incomplete penetration in the weld image 6 different types of defects are classified. Another contribution of this paper is to train a CNN model "RayNet" for the dataset from scratch. In the experiment part, the parameters of convolution operation are compared and analyzed, in which the experimental part performs a comparative analysis of various parameters in the convolution operation, compares the size of the input image, gives the classification results for each defect, and finally shows the partial feature map during feature extraction with the classification accuracy reaching 96.5%, which is 6.6% higher than the classification accuracy of other existing fine-tuned models, and even improves the classification accuracy compared with the traditional image processing methods, and also proves that the model trained from scratch also has a good performance on small-scale data sets. Our proposed method can assist the evaluators in classifying pipeline welding defects.

  • Recently nano-materials are gaining more importance in the construction industry due to its enhanced energy efficiency, durability, economy, and sustainability. Nano-silica addition to cement based materials can control the degradation of the fundamental calcium-silicate-hydrate reaction of concrete caused by calcium leaching in water as well as block water penetration and therefore lead to improvements in durability. In this paper, the influence of synthesized nano silica from locally available rice husk on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistant properties of OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) has been studied by conducting various experimental investigations. Micro structural properties have been assessed by conducting Scanning Electron Microscopy, Thermo gravimetry and Differential Thermal Analysis, X-Ray Diffraction analysis, and FTIR studies. The experimental results revealed that NS reacted with calcium hydroxide crystals in the cement paste and produces Calcium Silicate Hydrate gel which enhanced the strength and acts as a filler which filled the nano pores present in concrete. Hence the strength and corrosion resistant properties were enhanced than the control.

  • Studies were conducted to determine the clinical application of photodiode. We compared photodiode with ion-chamber as to change of tube potential, tube current, mAs and measured decreasing rate of penetration dose. When tube potential was changed from 60 kVp to 120 kVp, output of photodiode and ion-chamber were changed from 0.4 to 1.625, and 1.018 to 4.268, respectively. This was a good agreement to theory that $I=Kv^2it$(I is intensity, K is constant, v is tube potential, i is tube current, t is time). Characteristics for change of tube current and mAs were also a good agreement to theory. And comparison in decreasing rate of penetration dose was similar except above 6 cm in depth. Our results indicated that photodiode was a good instrument for relative measurement of radiation exposure, but we can not use the photodiode for absolute radiation dose.

  • In this work, SUS310S used for valve plate assembly was electron beam (EB) welded to determine the influence of the parametric conditions on the characteristics of the weld and to minimize porosity and micro-fissures among others. The evolution in the weld geometry and microstructure was examined as a function of the process conditions such as beam current and focusing current under a constant welding speed and accelerating voltage. The integrity of the EB welds in SUS310S was examined for defects (e.g. cracking, porosity, etc.), adequate penetration depth, and tolerable weld width deviation for the various welding conditions. Optical microscopy (OM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and 3D micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT) for the cross section analysis of the electron beam welded SUS310S were utilized. The tensile strength and hardness were analyzed for the mechanical properties of the EB weld. At the 6 kV accelerating voltage, it was determined that a satisfactory penetration depth and desirable weld width deviation requires a beam current of 30 mA and a focusing current of 0.687 A at the welding speed of 25 mm/sec.

  • Tidal disruption events (TDEs) provide evidence for quiescent supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in the centers of inactive galaxies. TDEs occur when a star on a parabolic orbit approaches close enough to a SMBH to be disrupted by the tidal force of the SMBH. The subsequent super-Eddington accretion of stellar debris falling back to the SMBH produces a characteristic flare lasting several months. It is theoretically expected that the bolometric light curve decays with time as proportional to $t^{-5/3}$. However, some of the observed X-ray light curves deviate from the $t^{-5/3}$ decay rate, while some of them are overall in good agreement with the $t^{-5/3}$ law. Therefore, it is required to construct the theoretical model for explaining these light curve variations consistently. In this paper, we revisit the mass fallback rates semi-analytically by taking account of the stellar internal structure, orbital eccentricity and penetration factor. We find that the mass fallback rate is shallower than the standard $t^{-5/3}$ decay rate independently of the polytropic index, and the orbital eccentricity only changes the magnitude of the mass fallback rate. Furthermore, the penetration factor significantly can modify the magnitude and variation of mass fallback rate. We confirm these results by performing the computational hydrodynamic simulations. We also discuss the relevance of our model by comparing these results with the observed light curves.

  • Back analysis has been used to evaluate the factor of safety and circular failure plane at the landfill failure site. However, the estimated circular failure plane by back analysis is quite different from what is observed in the field. Thus, this study was conducted to estimate an actual shear failure plane inside the ground which gives a more accurate failure plane. Cone penetration test (CPT), boring test, soft X-ray image scan, density logging, and ultrasonic logging were conducted at the field and laboratory. The result of CPT showed significantly lower cone resistance, pore pressure, and undrained shear strength at a particular part. This part is a possible shear failure plane inside the ground. To validate, the soft X-ray scan images were analyzed and found the disturbed (inclined) bedding plane induced by shear activity at the estimated shear failure plane. Density and ultrasonic logging tests also found a similar result. Thus, the method in this study is possible to estimate the shear failure plane inside the ground.

  • In this study, chlorine(Cl)-based gas chemistry is generally used to etching for AlCu films metallization. The corrosion phenomena of AlCu films were examined with XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), SEM 9Scanning electron microscopy), and TEM (Transmission electron microscopy). SF$_{6}$ plasma treatment sulbsequent to the etching process preventas the corrosion effectively in the pressure of 300 mTorr. It is found that the cholrine atoms on the etched surface are not substituted for fluorine atoms during SF$_{6}$ treatment, but a passivation layer on the surface by fluorine-related compounds would be formed. The passivation layer prevents the moisture penetration on the SF$_{6}$ treated surface and suppresses the corrsion sucessfully.fully.
