  • Properties of modified rice starches prepared in drum drying and extrusion were evaluated to use for effective utilization. Blue value was the lowest (p<0.05) for waxy rice starch and L value was decreased after modification of starches. Water solubility index was the highest for modified starches prepared in extrusion, while water absorption index was the highest for modified starches prepared in drum drying. Cold-Water-Solubility was the highest (p<0.05) for modified rice starch prepared in drum drying (RD). Consistency index of RD was drastically increased as shear rate increased and yield stress was the highest for RD. Results of Gel Permeation Chromatography showed that starch components were broken down into lower molecular weight materials and amylose are degraded by modification. Changes in the X-ray diffrectometry pattern indicated the transformation of granule into an amorphous state during modification and illustrated V-type.

  • Wireless technology is glowing rapidly in the new millennium period. By this technical progress, new idea which separate CDMA 2000-1x service and existing mobile service by the account appears in interconnection market. Especially fixed operator and mobile operator insist contrary opinions. Account Separation of CDMA 2000-lx service is not studied despite it's importance. This paper deal with this subject and analyse logic of operators opinion. By the result of this paper, CDMA 2000-lx is more a 3rd generation service than a 2.5rd generation service and the current account separation criteria based on using frequency bandwidth is not desirable.

  • In this paper, a compact L-shaped shorted pin patch to be used at local oscillator port in radar detector is proposed. Shorted pin patch operates as short-open cavity while conventional patch operates as open-open cavity. Shorted pins are L-shaped to obtain quarter wave length and three-quarter wave length resonance for the fundamental(X-band) and $2^{nd}(3^{rd})$(K- and Ka-band) mode resonance frequency, respectively. Thus, the proposed patch can be compact. It is also possible to operate at triple band(X-, K-, Ka-band) with small return loss in radar detector, It is expected that shorted pin patch could improve radar detector sensitivity.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to characterize the movement of adjacent segments that occurred when posteroanterior joint mobilization was applied to the 3rd lumbar and thereby to provide basic clinical data. Design: Randomized controlled trial design. Methods: While the subjects were receiving posteroanterior joint mobilization of the 3rd lumbar vertebra, LD (lumbar displacement), LID (lumbar intervertebral distance), LIA (lumbar intervertebral angle), and LLA (lumbar lordosis angle) were measured using X-ray, and the data were then analyzed. Changes before and after posteroanterior joint mobilization were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test, and a one-way ANOVA of variance was performed to determine the difference between segmental movements. In addition, Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to determine the correlation between segmental movements. Results: The results revealed that there was a significant change in LD before and after the application of joint mobilization of the 3rd lumbar in all lumbar vertebrae (p<0.000), among which the 2nd lumbar vertebra, an adjacent segment, showed the most significant change. A significant change in LIA angle was observed in all segments (p<0.000), with the most significant change observed between the 2nd and 3rd lumbar vertebrae. There was a significant change in LLA before and after the application of posteroanterior joint mobilization (p<0.000). The correlation analysis showed a high correlation between displacement of the 3rd lumbar vertebra and displacement of all the other lumbar vertebrae. Conclusions: The presence of kinematic movements of the lumbar vertebrae when segmental movements were generated through the application of posteroanterior joint mobilization of the 3rd lumbar vertebra.

  • IEC publications have applied in many countries all over the world such as Europe or Japan and these also have been published as in dustrial standards (KS) and notifications of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) in Korea. As the general standard of IEC 60601 series for medical electric (ME) equipment was revised as $3^{rd}$ edition in 2005, additional and particular standards have been revised or established newly. Under these circumstances, it is importance for manufacturing and assembling companies or authorized testing companies to understand the trend for revisions of IEC publications. Therefore in this study, the latest version of 3 IEC standards related to medical X-ray equipment : IEC 60601-2-44 for X-ray equipment for computed tomography (CT), IEC 60601-2-45 for mammographic X-ray equipment and IEC 60601-2-54 for X-ray equipment for radiography or radioscopy were covered and analyzed for trends and features accompanied by revision based on IEC 60601-1 $3^{rd}$ Ed. As KFDA notifications in force have referred to the particular standards based on 2nd edition of IEC 60601-1, those revised version of 3 particular standards were compared to KFDA notifications in force. The features of the latest standards applying IEC 60601-1 $3^{rd}$ Ed were shown as following: 1) Requirements for mechanical hazards, especially (motorized) moving parts were emphasized. 2) Indication and recording of patient dose were required. 3) Risk management process was introduced and enabled to monitor potential risks systematically. 4) DR system (digital radiography system) as well as analogue system (film-screen system) was included in the scope. Presently, KFDA will revise the notifications applying the particular standards based on IEC 60601-1 $3^{rd}$ Ed in a few years. Therefore the features of particular standards applying IEC 60601-1 $3^{rd}$ Ed was expected to help manufacturers, assemblers or testing companies of medical electric equipment understand IEC publications or KFDA notifications slated to be published.

  • The discovery of RNA silencing inhibition by virus encoded suppressors or low temperature leads to concerns about the stability of transgenic resistance. RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) has been previously characterized to be essential for transgene-mediated RNA silencing. Here we showed that low temperature led to the inhibition of RNA silencing, the loss of viral resistance and the reduced expression of host RdRp homolog (NtRdRP1) in transgenic T4 progeny with untranslatable potato virus Y coat protein (PVY-CP) gene. Moreover, RNA silencing and the associated resistance were differently inhibited by potato virus X (PVX) and tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) infections. The increased expression of NtRdRP1 in both PVX and TMV infected plants indicated its general role in response to viral pathogens. Collectively, we propose that biotic and abiotic stress factors affect RNA silencing-mediated resistance in transgenic tobacco plants and that their effects target different steps of RNA silencing.

  • Electrochemical behaviors of optically active sparteine-Cu(II) dihalide complexes were investigated by polarography and cyclic voltammetry (CV). These Cu(II) complexes are rather easier to be reduced to Cu(I) states when comparison is made with other nonplaner copper complexes, We have assigned the CV peaks and polarographic waves related to the redox processes for these complexes. We could also observe the exchange reaction of Cu(II) ion in the complex with mercury metal in the cell having mercury pool. The redox mechanism of these complelxes is as follows; The 1st wave appeared at +0.47 V/+0.65 V corresponds to the reaction of $SpCuX_2+ e{\rightleftarrow}SpCuX_{2^-}$ and the 2nd one at +0.26 V/+0.21 V does the reaction of $SpCuX_{2 ^-} +e{\rightleftarrow}SpCuX_2^{2-}$. The 3rd one at -0.35 V/-0.27 V is dueto the reduction of mercury complex formed via exchange reaction. Where, X is chloride ion.
