Influence analysis of heat treatment on crystalline structure of ZrO2-SiO2 glass precursor synthesized by sol-gel method (졸-겔법으로 합성된 ZrO2-SiO2 유리전구체의 결정화구조에 미치는 열처리의 영향분석)

  • $xZrO_2-(1-x)SiO_2$ glass precursor with relatively high concentration of zirconium propoxide in metal alkoxide solution was obtained by sol-gel method and then heated at various temperature from 500 to $1,100^{\circ}C$ to investigate the effect of the thermal treatment on the crystalline structure of the glass precursor. Based on X-ray diffraction analysis, the crystalline peak was started to develop at temperature higher than $600^{\circ}C$, and the crystalline phase was considerably increased at $850^{\circ}C$ or higher. With increasing the thermal treatment temperature, the characteristic peaks, such as baddelyite, tetragonal-$ZrO_2$ and zircon, was shown at $35^{\circ}$, $50^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ of $2{\theta}$.

  • 직접 메탄올 연료전지 (DMFCs)는 친환경적이고 낮은 작동 온도로 인한 빠른 구동, 높은 에너지 밀도 등 다양한 장점을 가지고 있어 차세대 에너지 변환소자로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 직접 메탄올 연료전지는 메탄올을 연료로 사용하며, 메탄올이 보유하고 있는 화학적 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환하는 장치로써 음극에서는 백금 촉매로 인한 메탄올 산화반응, 양극에서는 환원 반응이 일어나며 전기화학적 구동을 하게 된다. 하지만 일산화탄소 피독으로 인한 촉매 활성 저하, 메탄올의 cross over, 백금 촉매 사용으로 인한 고비용 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 많은 연구자들이 백금 사용량을 줄이고 백금 촉매를 고르게 분포하기 위해 값이 저렴하고 넓은 비표면적을 갖는 탄소계 (graphite, graphene, carbon nanotube, carbon nanofiber 등) 지지체 재료를 도입하고 있다. 이 중 탄소나노섬유 (carbon nanofibers, CNFs)는 우수한 전기전도도와 열적/화학적 안정성을 가지고 있으며, 특히 넓은 비표면적을 가지고 있어 백금 촉매의 지지체로서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다[1]. 따라서 우리는 전기방사법을 활용하여 넓은 비표면적을 보유하는 다공성 탄소나노섬유를 성공적으로 합성하였다. 또한, 이를 백금 촉매의 지지체로 도입하여 직접 메탄올 연료전지를 위한 다공성 탄소나노섬유에 담지된 고분산성 백금 촉매를 제조하였다. 제조한 다공성 탄소나노섬유의 형상 및 구조 분석은 주사전자 현미경 (field-emission scanning electron microscopy)와 투과전자 현미경 (transmission electron microscopy)를 이용하여 분석하였고, 결정구조와 화학적 결합상태는 X-선 회절분석 (X-ray diffraction) 및 X-선 광전자 분광법 (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)를 이용하여 규명하였다. 전기화학적 특성은 순환 전압 전류법 (cyclic voltammetry)를 이용하였다. 이러한 실험 결과들을 바탕으로 다공성 탄소나노섬유에 담지된 고분산성 백금 촉매의 자세한 특성을 본 학회에서 다루도록 하겠다.

Study on Synthesis of Boron-Containing Nanoparticles Using Thermal Plasma System (고온 플라즈마를 이용한 붕소 함유 나노입자 제조에 관한 연구)

  • A new method for producing boron-containing nanoparticles is described. Boron trichloride ($BCl_3$) and methane ($CH_4$) are dissociated through injection into a thermal plasma followed by a nucleation process producing boron or boron carbide nanoparticles. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to detect B-C bonds related to the carbide state and to probe the ratio of boron to carbon in the B-C bond structure. In addition, nanoparticles were characterized with scanning transmission electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy. It was found that nanoparticles were in the range 30-70 nm and a boron to carbon ratio in the B-C bond structure of up to 2 can be reached when $BCl_3$ of 20 sccm and $CH_4$ of 25 sccm were used.

Influences of the Composition on Spectroscopic Characteristics of AlxGa1-xN Thin Films (AlxGa1-xN 박막의 조성이 분광학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ films were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates by using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The crystallinity of the grown films was examined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. The surfaces and the chemical properties of the $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ films were investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. The optical properties of the $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ film were studied in a wide photon energy range between 2.0 ~ 8.7 eV by using spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) at room temperature. The data obtained by using SE were analyzed to find the critical points of the pseudodielectric function spectra, $<{\varepsilon}(E)>=<{\varepsilon}_1(E)>+i<{\varepsilon}_2(E)>$. In addition, the second derivative spectra, $d^2<{\varepsilon}(E)>/dE^2$, of the pseudodielectric function for the $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ films were numerically calculated to determine the critical points (CPs), such as the $E_0$, $E_1$, and $E_2$ structure. For the four samples (x = 0.18, 0.21, 0.25, 0.29) between a composition of x = 0.18 and x = 0.29, changes in the critical points (blue-shifts) with increasing Al composition at 300 K for the $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ film were observed via ellipsometric measurements for the first time.

The Morphological Properties of Acorn Starch Granules and Starch Gels (도토리 전분 및 전분겔의 형태학적 특성 연구)

  • The morphological properties of acorn starch granules and starch gels were examined with scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The shape of acorn starch granule was rounded triangular and some elliptical. The size distribution of starch granule was also analyzed. The mean value of minor axis, major axis and the ratio of those were 4.785 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 7.30 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 0.68, respectively. The surface micro-structure of acorn starch gels were investigated by SEM. Acorn crude and refined starch gel were very different in surface micro-structure. X-ray diffraction pattern of acorn starch was C-type, and the pattern of acorn starch gels were extremely different because of disintegration of starch granules by gelatinization. The diffraction intensity of acorn refined starch gel was slightly higher than crude starch gel.

  • 고온 초전도체 $Y_{1}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$에서 Y를 Sm으로 치환시켰을 때의 자기 임계 전류밀도와 저항은 각각 30K와 80-160K의 온도에서 측정되었다. 그리고 X-선 회절분석 및 적외선 투과율 측정은 실온에서 수행되었으며 시료들은 고상 반응법에 의해서 제조되었다. 93K근에의 값을 갖는 초전도 전이온도 T$_{c}$는 치환양에 따라 거의 변하지 않았다. 시료들의 결정구조는 X-선 회절무늬로 부터 모두 직방정계임이 판명되었다. 적외선 투과율 측정에서 날카로운 peak들은 472.78-618.53$cm^{-1}$ /범위에 있었다. 이것은 특이할 정도로의 low-lying plasmalike edge와 낮은 에너지의 전자적인 여기가 존재함을 나타내는 것이다. 자기 임계 전류밀도는 $10^{3}$~$10^{4}$A/$cm^{2}$범위에 있었다. 전이온도 T$_{c}$에 상자성 불순물의 영향이 거의 없는 것으로 보아 123phase에서 Y가 고온 초전도성에 주된 역할을 하지 않음을 알수 있었다.다.

Properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramics for optical ferrule (광체롤용 이트리아 안정화 지르코니아 세라믹스의 특성)

  • In order to evaluate the properties of the sintered zirconia for optical ferrule, specimens were prepared at 1350, 1400 and $1450^{\circ}C$ using starting materials supplied by A, B and C providers. Crystallinity, microstructure and mechanical strength were tested as a function of sintering temperature. Crystallinity of the sintered specimens was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. A field emission-scanning electron microscope was used for studying the microstructure after sintering. Bending strength and Vickers' hardness were also examined by universial tester and Vickers' hardness tester, respectively. The specimen B sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ was favorable because of its high tetragonality and good mechanical strength for practical usage.

Dependence of Magnetic and Magneto-Optic Properties on Deposition Angle in E-Beam EVaporated Co/Pt Multilayer Films (전자빔 증착 Co/Pt 다층박막에서 입사 선속의 방향에 따른 자기 및 자기광학적 성질 변화 연구)

  • We have investigated the effects of deposition angle on magnetic and magneto-optic properties in Co/Pt multilayer thin films. which were prepared bye-beam evaporation on tilted substrates. with varying tilt angle from $0^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$. The structure of the specimens was examined by x-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope. and the magnetic and magneto-optical properties were measured by VSM, torque magnetometer, and Kerr loop tracer. X-ray diffractometry revealed that all of the specimens had multilayer structure and growth orientation of column followed the tangent rule but the crystallograpic orientation, <111>, was slightly deviated from the substrate normal even though the deposition angle was increased up to $60^{\circ}$. A decrement of the magnetization and Kerr angle with the deposition angle was related with that of the film density due to increasing porosity. The perpendicular mag¬netic anisotropy was also decreased with increasing the deposition angle.

  • $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ has been considered a potential material for high power lithium batteries. Since $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ is however an insulator having a broad band gap, various methods have been employed to improve the conductivity. In this study, we have investigated the change of fine structure and electronic structure by Cr doping using X-ray absorption spectroscopy and First Principle Calculation. Doping with Cr, we could obtain an enhanced electronic conductivity by locating the Fermi level at the center position of Cr d-band and identify the change of XANES pre-edge and white line peak due to the increase of electron density of Ti d-band.

  • X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS) and Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy(RBS) are used for the analysis of additives, examination of chemical structure and determination of identity with qualitative and quantitative analysis of surface elements, binding energy level and depth profiling in the surface. We analyzed surface of polyethylene, acrylonitrile butadien rubber, polypropylene, glass, fiber and paper treated with $XeF_2$ or C-F plasma by XPS and RBS. It was found that fluoro element was penetrated to sample surface and the distribution of surface elements are different than untreated samples.
