The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between writing self-efficacy and academic achievement in a project-based university writing class, and the mediating effect of reflective journal writing. A total of 135 college students participated in the study. The results showed that students with higher writing self-efficacy had higher academic achievement and wrote more reflective journaling. Reflective journaling was found to have a positive impact on reviewing learned content, improving metacognition and memory, and promoting idea development. Overall, consistent reflective journal writing not only enhanced writing self-efficacy but also positively influenced academic performance.
EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) classes are now accepted policy at Korean universities, yet students often struggle with required academic English writings. The present study examined an EMI class that used direct instruction and access to online assistive English writing software. From preliminary analysis, 26 students expressed interest in how an EMI academic writing class could facilitate improved English writing skills. Study participants completed a survey on self-efficacy and learning needs and assignments for an EMI academic writing class. To establish inter-rater reliability, three trained raters assessed the written essays of students prior to and after instructional intervention. Fleiss' Kappas statistics showed moderate reliability. Students' opinions on the use of online software were also analysed. Paired t-test was run on the quality of students' pre- and post-instruction assignments, and there was significant difference in the rated scores. Self-efficacy was found to have moderate positive association with improved post-essay writing scores.
This study examines the effects of reflective journal writing on the mathematics self-efficacy in reciprocal peer tutoring. Participants were 38 high school students in Gyeonggi province who attended at a summer intensive mathematics course for 4 weeks. This study used a mixed method. SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze the quantitative data, and the interviews, observational journals and reflective journals of 6 students were used to analyze qualitative data. According to the results, all the subcategories of mathematics self-efficacy, - mathematics problem-efficacy, mathematics success-efficacy, mathematics learning-efficacy, and mathematics subject-efficacy - improved except mathematics occupation-efficacy. In case of mathematics success-efficacy and mathematics problem-efficacy, students revealed the greatest improvement. In conclusion, reflective journal writing in reciprocal peer tutoring could be suggested as a treatment program to improve students' mathematics self-efficacy.

For the control group, a typical debriefing was conducted in the same environment. Results: Critical thinking disposition, self-efficacy, and clinical judgement were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. Conclusion: To enhance the critical thinking disposition, self-efficacy, and clinical judgement of nursing students in simulation, it is recommended to debrief using reflection questions and writing.
The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of users' satisfaction with the Automatic Writing Evaluation(AWE) on learners' sense of learning achievement through self efficacy in English writing class. AWE is a tool that automatically provides feedback on writing outputs by AI technology. College students were asked to write essays for each topic and use AWE to get feedback on their drafts, and finally revise them referring to the feedback. A questionnaire survey was conducted for the data collection. The data was analyzed using SPSS, and smart PLS-SEM along with bootstrapping techniques, The results of the study reveal the followings: 1) the convenience and usefulness of AWE had a positive effect on the willingness to reuse it; 2) the satisfaction with AWE had a positive effect on self-efficacy; 3) self-efficacy had a positive effect on learning achievement in terms of emotional and linguistic aspects. With the development of the 4th industry and A.I. technology, it is recommended to introduce new materials or programs such as AWE in English education.
Though it has been known that self-efficacy is a predictor to the successful L2 learning, the majority of studies on self-efficacy cases were targeted at secondary school students. This paper aims to explore the effects of the intermediate college students' essay writing experiences on their English self-efficiency. For this purpose, pre and post course surveys were conducted on a hundred or so freshmen who took intermediate college English classes which focused on improving English reading and writing skills. Interviews with teachers were also conducted in order to find out whether the differences of their teaching styles had any meaningful impact on their students' self-efficacy. Paired t-test was run on the responses of the post-questionnaire to identify any differences in the self-efficacies of the students before and after taking the classes, and the one-way ANOVA was conducted to find out whether the different instruction types had any significant impact on the differences. The results of the both analyses confirmed the differences of self-efficacies by the two predictors at a statistically significant level. Based on the findings of this paper, various types of writing assignments and efficient procedures of teachers' feedback need to be developed further in order to design and run an effective college English course which can contribute to enhancing self-efficacy of students.
Purpose. To examine the effect of Taegyo-focused prenatal classes on maternal-fetal attachment and self-efficacy related to childbirth. Methods. Over 4 weeks, 49 women, 20 to 36 weeks of gestation participated in a prenatal program led by the nurse who developed it. In addition to Lamaze content it included; understanding ability of fetus to respond, sharing motivation, purpose of pregnancy, and preconceptions of experiencing childbirth, training in maternal-fetal interaction, writing letters and making a declaration of love to unborn baby. Using a pre-experimental design, data were collected by self-report, before and after program, using Cranley's Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale (1981), and Shin's(1997) Labor Self-Efficacy Measurement. Results and Conclusion. Paired t-test showed significant changes in scores of maternal-fetal attachment (t=6.91. p<.001) and self-efficacy related to childbirth (t=10.19, p<.001). Taegyo opens the possibility of integrating Western ideas with Korean traditional health behavior. Incorporation of Taegyo into existing prenatal classes is recommended.
