This study describes an approach for comparative bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to (i) individual or several departments comprising a university, and (ii) broader integrated subject areas using multiple disciplinary schemes. It uses a custom dataset of scientific publications (ca. 15,000 articles and reviews, published during 2009-2013, and recorded in the Web of Science Core Collections) with author affiliations to the research departments, dedicated to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM), of a comprehensive university. The dataset was subjected, at first, to the department level and discipline level analyses using the newly available KAKEN-L3 classification (based on MEXT/JSPS Grants-in-Aid system), hierarchical clustering, correspondence analysis to decipher the major departmental and disciplinary clusters, and visualization of the department-discipline relationships using two-dimensional stacked bar diagrams. The next step involved the creation of subsets covering integrated subject areas and a comparative analysis of departmental contributions to a specific area (medical, health and life science) using several disciplinary schemes: Essential Science Indicators (ESI) 22 research fields, SCOPUS 27 subject areas, OECD Frascati 38 subordinate research fields, and KAKEN-L3 66 subject categories. To illustrate the effective use of the science mapping techniques, the same subset for medical, health and life science area was subjected to network analyses for co-occurrences of keywords, bibliographic coupling of the publication sources, and co-citation of sources in the reference lists. The science mapping approach demonstrates the ways to extract information on the prolific research themes, the most frequently used journals for publishing research findings, and the knowledge base underlying the research activities covered by the publications concerned.

As the advancement of technologies on indoor positioning systems and measuring devices such as LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and cameras, the demands on analyzing and searching indoor spaces and visualization services via virtual and augmented reality have rapidly increasing. To this end, it is necessary to model 3D objects from measured data from real-world structures. In addition, it is important to store these structured data in standardized formats to improve the applicability and interoperability. In this paper, we propose a method to construct IndoorGML data, which is an international standard for indoor modeling, from point cloud data acquired from LiDAR sensors. After examining considerations that should be addressed in IndoorGML data, we present a construction method, which consists of free space extraction and connectivity detection processes. With experimental results, we demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively reconstruct the 3D model from point cloud.
With an increase in the commercialization of electricity, and the development of advanced and large electric devices and various wireless radio wave services, concerns over the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health have increased. Accordingly, the World Health Organization encouraged the development of international standards by establishing the 'International Electromagnetic Fields Project' in 1996 based on studies on the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields on the human body. Moreover, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) classified electromagnetic fields as possible carcinogens under Group 2B category, even though they have been found to have a weak correlation with those effects on human health. Mid-to-large-sized electric facilities used at industrial sites mostly adopt a commercial frequency of 60 Hz, and workers handling these facilities are exposed to such extremely low frequency (ELF) fields for a long time. A previous study suggested that exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields with frequency ranges from 0 to 300 Hz, even for a short time, at densities higher than 100 μT may have harmful effects on human body as it affects the activation of nerve cells in the central nervous system by inducing an electric field and current and stimulating muscles and the nervous system in the body. Such studies, however, focused on home appliances used by ordinary people, and research on facilities utilizing high-capacity current and operated by workers at industrial sites is lacking. Therefore, in this study, a 3000 kilowatt generator, which is a high-capacity electric facility employed at industrial sites, was investigated, and the size of the magnetic fields generated during its no-load and high-load operations per distance to produce a map was measured to reveal spots deemed hazardous according to domestic and international exposure standards. The findings of this study is expected to alleviate workers' anxiety about the harmful effects of magnetic fields on their body and to minimize the level of exposure during operations.

The cadastre in Korea was established with the outdated technology of the Japanese colonial period, and thus currently 15% of the Korea domestic land does not match the cadastral map. Accordingly, the government has been establishing the Korean cadastre under the name of 'Cadastral Re-investigation Project' and is changing the origin of the survey to the world geodetic system. Assuming that the project is completed, we propose a drone boundary survey method that can be used to easily survey using the exact digital cadastral information. The developed mobile GCS application can control the drone and acquire the boundary point coordinates recorded in the cadastre, and the drone automatically flies to mark the boundary points. The developed prototype of drone made a tour along the 6 boundary points in 2 minutes.

NC Soft images an expansion in entertainment industry which open doors to the future of enjoy break through innovative online game and creative AI & IT technologies, focused on new business opportunities that are solely NC's own. This study starts with the implication on why focusing on exploration innovation and exploitation strategy at the same time in NC Soft is so challenging. NC Soft manages to their online & mobile gaming competencies in the long term and achieves their sustainable growth by incremental innovation (e.g. game planning, game programming, and graphic design). Also, for innovative success, pursuing exploration strategy is essential. NC Soft have built a strategic alliance spanning K-POP, digital contents platform, movie, and animation, sharing the connectivity of entertainment domains with major contents corporations. The findings of this study would also beneficial to entertainment and contents corporation executives and could provide some road-map on managing the dual challenges of exploration and exploitation implementations.
Nowadays, Genomic data constitutes one of the fastest growing datasets in the world. As of 2025, it is supposed to become the fourth largest source of Big Data, and thus mandating adequate high-performance computing (HPC) platform for processing. With the latest unprecedented and unpredictable mutations in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the research community is in crucial need for ICT tools to process SARS-CoV-2 RNA data, e.g., by classifying it (i.e., clustering) and thus assisting in tracking virus mutations and predict future ones. In this paper, we are presenting an HPC-based SARS-CoV-2 RNAs clustering tool. We are adopting a data science approach, from data collection, through analysis, to visualization. In the analysis step, we present how our clustering approach leverages on HPC and the longest common subsequence (LCS) algorithm. The approach uses the Hadoop MapReduce programming paradigm and adapts the LCS algorithm in order to efficiently compute the length of the LCS for each pair of SARS-CoV-2 RNA sequences. The latter are extracted from the U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Virus repository. The computed LCS lengths are used to measure the dissimilarities between RNA sequences in order to work out existing clusters. In addition to that, we present a comparative study of the LCS algorithm performance based on variable workloads and different numbers of Hadoop worker nodes.

Colmap is one of the innovative artificial intelligence technologies, highly effective as a tool in 3D reconstruction tasks. Moreover, it excels at constructing intricate 3D models by utilizing images and corresponding metadata. Colmap generates 3D models by merging 2D images, camera position data, depth information, and so on. Through this, it achieves detailed and precise 3D reconstructions, inclusive of objects from the real world. Additionally, Colmap provides rapid processing by leveraging GPUs, allowing for efficient operation even within large data sets. In this paper, we have presented a method of collecting 2D images of traditional Korean towers and reconstructing them into 3D models using Colmap. This study applied this technology in the restoration process of traditional stone towers in South Korea. As a result, we confirmed the potential applicability of Colmap in the field of cultural heritage restoration.

The King George Island, where the King Sejong Station is located, represents one of the gateways to the Antarctica from the point of its geographical aspect. It also serves as an advanced post, and plays an important role in the extending for Korea's Antarctic research activities. The existence of maps is not only a basic element for the constructing geographic informations supporting these activities, but also an implied way of announcing the sovereignty over the KingSejong Station in global world. However, the precise surveying for the geographic information has not been carried out, and thus topographical maps as well as geographic information assuring enough accuracy are still missed in this area. This fact had forced Korea to rely on using maps produced by foreign countries. Therefore, this study aims to generate digital topographical maps of 1: 5,000 scale for the constructing geographic information using lightweight aerial photogrammetry system first. And further, it will contribute to offer practical base data for the future research related to the Antarctic environment through the analysis of glacier retreat and change using this new digital map comparing with existing one.
Recently, the world's countries are tightening regulations on CO2 and air pollutants emission to solve them. In addition, eco friendly vehicles is increasing to replace automobiles in internal combustion engine. The government is supporting the expansion of hydrogen refueling infrastructure according to the hydrogen economy road map. In particular, refueling station is important to secure the safety that supplies high-pressure hydrogen with a wide LFL range. This paper is on guidelines for the determination safety distances to ensure worker safety from accident as jet fire. The safety distance is set according to the procedure of the EIGA doc 075/21. For accident frequency is upper 3.5E-05 per annum, safety distance is decided via consequence analysis where the risk of harm is below individual harm exposure threshold.
Traditionally, three dimension model s have been used for building virtual worlds, and a data structure called the "scene graph" is often employed to organize these 3D objects in the virtual space. On the other hand, image-based rendering has recently been suggested as a probable alternative VR platform for its photo-realism, however, due to limited interactivity. it has only been used for simple navigation systems. To combine the merits of these two approaches to object/scene representations, this paper proposes for a scene graph structure in which both 3D models and various image-based scenes/objects can be defined. traversed, and rendered together. In fact, as suggested by Shade et al. [1]. these different representations can be used as different LOD's for a given object. For in stance, an object might be rendered using a 3D model at close range, a billboard at an intermediate range. and as part of an environment map at far range. The ultimate objective of this mixed platform is to breath more interactivity into the image based rendered VE's by employing 3D models as well. There are several technical challenges in devising such a platform : designing scene graph nodes for various types of image based techniques, establishing criteria for LOD/representation selection. handling their transition s. implementing appropriate interaction schemes. and correctly rendering the overall scene. Currently, we have extended the scene graph structure of the Sense8's WorldToolKit. to accommodate new node types for environment maps. billboards, moving textures and sprites, "Tour-into-the-Picture" structure, and view interpolated objects. As for choosing the right LOD level, the usual viewing distance and image space criteria are used, however, the switching between the image and 3D model occurs at a distance from the user where the user starts to perceive the object's internal depth. Also. during interaction, regardless of the viewing distance. a 3D representation would be used, if it exists. Finally. we carried out experiments to verify the theoretical derivation of the switching rule and obtained positive results.
