"알렉사, 색상 팔레트를 만들어줄 수 있어?" 지능형 디자인 비서와 자연어로 협업을 수행할 UX/UI 디자이너의 생각 ("Hey Alexa, Would You Create a Color Palette?" UX/UI Designers' Perspectives on Using Natural Language to Interact with Future Intelligent Design Assistants)

  • AI (인공지능)는 알렉사와 같은 지능형 가상 비서 (IVA)을 통해서 이미 우리의 삶에 침투했으며 디자인 작업에도 도입될 가능성이 높다. 본 연구에서는 AI를 활용하여 개발될 지능형 디자인 비서에 (intelligent design assistant) 대해서, 디자이너들이 어떠한 생각을 가지고 있는지 이해하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 브라질의 UX/UI 디자이너들에게 지능형 가상 비서와 AI 디자인 도구에 관한 설문 조사를 실시했으며, 추가로 알렉사와 (Alexa) 어도비 센세이를 (Adobe Sensei) 결합하여 음성 기반 AI 디자인 비서인 알렉사 센세이를 (Alexa Sensei) 가상의 시나리오로 만든 뒤, 이에 관한 설문도 함께 실시했다. 설문조사 결과, 브라질 디자이너들은 AI와 협업할 기회는 제한되어 있었으나 AI가 디자인 프로세스의 효율성을 개선해줄 것으로 기대한다는 사실을 알아냈다. 또한 응답자의 대다수는 AI 설계 시스템과 창의적으로 협력할 수 있을 것이라고 예측했다. 자연어를 통한 의사소통에는 한계가 있을 것으로 바라보았지만, 이미 지능형 가상 비서를 사용한 경험이 있는 디자이너들은 음성 기반 AI 디자인 비서에 대한 거부감이 낮다는 점도 함께 밝혀졌다.

교대근무를 하는 일반병동 간호사의 간호업무 수행실태, 수행주체와 직무만족에 대한 융복합적 조사연구 (A Convergence Investigation on Nursing Task Performance, Appropriate Performer, and Job Satisfaction of Nurses with Shift Work in General Ward)

  • 본 연구는 일반병동에 근무하는 교대근무 간호사의 간호업무 수행실태와 직무만족도를 확인하기 위한 2차 자료 분석 연구이다. 연구 결과, 전체 간호 업무 중 대상자가 수행한 직접간호는 45%, 간접간호는 55%를 차지하였다. 교대 근무별로 주간에 수행한 업무량은 전체 업무량의 37.2%였고 인계 후 수행한 업무는 '직접간호(34.5%)'와 '기록과 보고(25.8%)'였다. 대상자들은 본인이 수행한 업무 중 일부분에 대해 간호보조 인력에게 위임 가능하거나, 타 의료인과 경계가 모호한 업무가 있다고 응답하였다. 야간근무의 직무이행도와 직무만족도 간의 유의한 상관관계(rs=.43, p=.01)가있었다. 이러한 결과는 교대근무별 직무분석에 근거한 업무효율성 제고 및 EMR적용, 스마트 기기 등을 활용한 인계시간 감소 전략, 업무 수행주체를 명확히 하는 방안이 필요함을 시사한다.

Motivation and Human Resources in Libraries

  • This paper discussed motivation, some theories of motivation and motivation of library personnel. The most important aspect of any organization is its workforce. Motivation arouses, energizes, influences and sustains behaviour and performance of employees. Motivating factors include extrinsic factors which pertain to the conditions under which a job is performed and intrinsic motivators which contribute to job satisfaction and subsequently increase productivity. Two levels of motivation were identified in the library: the need-factor motivation and the profession-related motivation. Need-factor motivation is well-pronounced in the lower cadre of library staff such as library assistants, clerical staff, and porters who set their priority on economic needs. The profession-related motivation occurs among professionally trained librarians whose motivation hinges self-fulfillment derived from professional growth and development. Other motivating factor in the library is job design which includes job rotation, job enlargement, and job enrichment. Job design specifies the contents or methods of any job in such a way that various requirements of a job can be effectively satisfied. Adequate motivation of library employees lies with the managers because they generally control work distribution, freedom and autonomy, work challenge Remove, staff development and training, and advancement opportunities. The managers are urged to create enabling environment to ensure improved commitment, satisfaction, and productivity of employees in the library.

  • This paper, as a conlcusion to this special issue, presents the future work that is being carried out at NTU Singapore in collaboration with Microsoft Research and Microsoft Azure for Research. For our research team the real frontier research in world histories starts when we want to use computers to structure historical information, model historical narratives, simulate theoretical large scale hypotheses, and incent world historians to use virtual assistants and/or engage them in teamwork using social media and/or seduce them with immersive spaces to provide new learning and sharing environments, in which new things can emerge and happen: "You do not know which will be the next idea. Just repeating the same things is not enough" (Carlo Rubbia, 1984 Nobel Price in Physics, at Nanyang Technological University on January 19, 2016).

니콜라스 게스키에르에 대한 발렌시아가 디자인의 미적특성 (The Aesthetic Characteristics of Balenciaga Designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere)

  • This study is on the aesthetic characteristics of Balenciaga design succeeded to by Nicolas Ghesquiere, and tried to understand his pursuing brand's new design concept and aesthetics. The three key characteristics of Balenciaga designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere are Retrospecitvness, Eclecticism, Deconstruciton. First, Balenciaga looks retrospective sense through reinterpreting tradition. Nicolas created a new sense of expression by mixing his proper instinct with Balenciaga's original properties, historical components of the past western dress, and various design elements of assistants who used to work in Balenciaga. Second, Balenciaga expresses uncertain meaning by compromising between contrast and synthesis among the past and the future, the males and the females, simple and ornament, or different styles. Third, Nicolas's experimental and outsider-oriented view of Deconstruction through reorienting of thought is considered a try for a new formative concept as a designer who is not limited by general rules.

  • 본 논문에서는 내장형 리눅스 기반의 PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)를 위한 MPEG-4 비디오 재생기를 제안한다. PDA는 CPU 및 메인 메모리, 디스플레이 장치가 일반 PC에 비해 제한적이다. 현재 다양한 멀티미디어 데이터를 처리하기 위해 WinCE, Epoc, VxWorks과 같은 운영체제들이 개발되었으나, 운영체제의 크기가 크고 상용이라서 구입비용이 많이 드는 문제가 있다. 또, 기존의 MPEG-1, MPEG-2 같은 비디오 데이터는 1편의 영화를 감상하기에는 데이터의 크기가 커서 자원이 제한된 PDA에서 재생하기가 어렵다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 실시간 운영체제인 내장형 리눅스를 탑재하여 PDA의 제한된 자원을 효율적으로 사용하도록 하며, 데이터 압축률이 뛰어난 MPEG-4 포맷의 비디오를 재생할 수 있는 내장형 리눅스기반의 MPEG-4 비디오 재생기를 제안한다. 제안하는 MPEG-4 비디오 재생기는 화상통신 및 화상회의를 이동 중에 할 수 있다. 또한 PDA를 위한 MPEG-4 스트리밍 서비스를 지원하는 시스템에 적용 가능하다.

Impact of Job Satisfaction on Greek Nurses' Health-Related Quality of Life

  • Background: Employee job satisfaction and its relationship with health and quality of life has been an issue of major concern over the past decades. Nurses experience difficult working conditions that affect their job satisfaction, health, and quality of life. Methods: A cross-sectional study was undertaken in three general hospitals and their respective health centers. Stratified random sampling by level of education was used, and 508 nurses and nursing assistants were included. A self-administered anonymous questionnaire, which included the Measure of Job Satisfaction, the 36-item Short Form Health Survey, as well as demographic details, education, and work conditions data, was used. Results: Greek nurses were found to be dissatisfied with their job according to the total score of the job satisfaction scale, although personal satisfaction and satisfaction with support had had higher scores. Their general health was reported as average, because of physical and mental health problems, low vitality, low energy, and increased physical pain. Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that males and those wishing to stay in the job had higher physical and mental health. Increased job satisfaction was related to increased physical and mental health. Conclusion: Although Greek nurses are not satisfied with their work, those with high levels of job satisfaction had better health-related quality of life. The findings suggest that improvement of the work environment would contribute to a healthier and more satisfied nursing workforce.

소 도축 관련 종사자에서 브루셀라증의 혈청유병률 및 위험요인 (Seroprevalence and Risk Factors of Brucellosis among Slaughterhouse Workers in Korea)

  • Objectives : The incidence of zoonoses in Korea has increased recently. However, the study of high risk groups for zoonoses has not been conducted to date in Korea. Thus, we did this study to obtain data on brucellosis among slaughterhouse workers in Korea. Methods : We evaluated the structure of slaughterhouses and the process of slaughtering by reviewing the relevant literature and doing field studies. We visited 73 slaughterhouses and 62 residual products handle houses across the country. In addition, we conducted a questionnaire survey of the work activities, and obtained blood samples in order to determine the seroprevalence and risk factors of brucellosis. The titers of brucellosis antibodies were measured using the standard tube agglutination test SAT). We diagnosed subjects as seropositive for Brucellosis if the titers were more than 1:160. The data collected was evaluated using SPSS ver. 17.0. Results : We included 1,503 subjects and obtained 1,482 blood samples among them: 849 workers involved in slaughtering, 351 handlers of residual products, 190 inspectors and their assistants, and 92 grading testers and their assistants. The seroprevalence of brucellosis among the slaughterhouse workers was 0.8% (95% CI=0.4-1.5). Broken down, the seroprevalence of brucellosis among the workers involved in slaughtering was 0.7% (95% CI=0.3-1.6), the handlers of residual products was 1.7% (95% CI=0.7-3.9) respectively. Risk factors for contracting brucellosis among slaughterhouse workers were being splashed with cattle blood around the mouth, cattle secretions around the body and not putting on protective apron while at work. Conclusions : An educational program is needed for high risk groups on zoonoses about the prevention of infection. Thus, effective working guidelines for workers who participate in the slaughter of animals must be developed in order to protect them from zoonoses.

간호사의 전문적 업무에 대한 국가 간 비교법적 연구: 법적 근거와 업무 범위 표준화를 중심으로 (A Comparative Law Study on the Professional Work of Nurses: Focusing on Legal Basis and Standardization)

  • 본 연구는 간호사의 전문적 업무에 대한 범규범과 임상 현실의 실제적 차이에서 오는 법적 혼란 문제를 외국의 사례와 비교함으로써 이를 비판적으로 고찰하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 간호사의 업무 확대의 역사적 배경을 비교하고, 주요 국가의 전문간호사 등의 자격 및 업무에 대한 법적 근거 등을 살펴본 후, 이를 기초로 우리 법제의 발전 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 연구 방법은 비교 제도론적 연구 방법을 적용하였다. OECD 국가 중 미국, 호주, 일본을 선정하여 그 전문간호사 등에 관한 법제를 비교하였다. 미국, 호주, 일본 등에서 간호사의 전문적인 업무는 고령화 사회, 만성 질환, 의사 부족 등으로 인한 의료환경의 변화에 의해 출현하였다. 이들의 전문적인 업무에 관한 법적 근거, 자격인정 및 자격인정제도의 발전과 그 업무 범위 등을 비교하여 살펴보았다. 한국은 미국 등 외국과 비교하여 아직 법적 근거가 부재하며, 전문간호사 등의 업무 범위에 관한 법원의 입장과 실제 업무 간의 격차를 좁히지 못하고 있다. 비교법적 검토를 통해 전문간호사 등에 관하여 한국 실정에 맞는 법안 마련과 업무 범위 개발에 대한 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

국내외 간호사 인력정책의 현황과 과제 (Issues and Challenges of Nurse Workforce Policy: A Critical Review and Implication)

  • Purpose: In this paper issues and challenges of the workforce policy for nursing were explored and appropriate policy responses identified. Results: Many countries, including South Korea, are facing a shortage of nurses. In South Korea, the number of practicing registered nurses is about half the average for Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member countries. The shortage of nurses is not necessarily a shortage of individuals with nursing qualifications but also includes complex issues, such as lack of well-educated nurses, shortage of nurses willing to work, and geographical imbalances of nurses. The present nurse workforce policies are to increase number of nursing schools, to reduce the length of training, and to replace nurses with nursing assistants. However, the findings of many studies have shown that these attempts resulted in a worsening of patient outcomes and increasingly low quality of care. Conclusion: The findings in this study indicate that nurse workforce policy should have a multi-faceted approach in order to address the many factors affecting nurse shortages.
