  • A substantial body of evidence indicates that reactive oxygen intermediates (ROIs) are implicated in pathogenesis of diverse human diseases, including cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. Oxidative stress induced by ROIs often causes cell death via apoptosis that is regulated by a plenty of functional genes and their protein products. In the present work, we have investigated the role of bcl-2 in protecting against oxidative death induced by hydrogen peroxide in cultured rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. (omitted)

  • Cognitive-behavioral approach can be clinically applied to coping with stress, because cognitions are playing a central mediating role in the occurances of stress and stress reactions. In other words, cognitive distortions can be associated with causing and/or maintaining psychopathology. The goal of cognitive-behavioral approach is to help the patients identify and alter cognitive distortions and maladaptive assumptions. This approach is aimed not at curing but rather at helping the patients to develop better coping strategies to deal with their life and work. The cognitive-behavioral techniques often used in this approach include problem solving, hypothesis-testing, self-monitoring, cognitive challenges, generating alternatives to automatic cognitive distortions, self-instruction, attribution and reattribution, and techniques to control or suppress thoughts. This approach is considered to be helpful for treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders including psychosomatic disorders, in which stress can greatly affect their onset and course.

직장인의 스트레스와 불안이 업무몰입에 미치는 영향 : 스마트폰 중독의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Influence of Worker's Stress and Anxiety on Work Commitment: Focused on Mediating Effect of Smartphone Addiction)

  • 본 연구는 직장인의 스트레스와 불안이 업무몰입 간의 관계에서 스마트폰 중독이 어떻게 매개역할을 하는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 전국적인 조직을 가지고 있는 K공기업의 직원 329명으로부터 자료를 수집하였고, AMOS 구조모형방정식을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 스트레스와 불안이 높을수록 스마트폰 중독에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 스마트폰 중독은 업무몰입에 직접적인 영향요인으로 유의한 부적 관계를 나타냈다. 셋째, 스마트폰 중독은 스트레스와 불안, 업무몰입 간의 관계에서 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 스트레스와 불안이 높은 직장인일수록 스마트폰에 과도하게 의존하게 되고 이로 인해 업무몰입이 감소하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이에 직장인의 스마트폰 중독 문제를 예방하기 위해서는 직장에서도 올바른 스마트폰 사용에 대한 지침 마련이 필요하며, 중독수준에 따른 서비스 지원도 이루어져야한다. 또한 업무몰입을 향상시키기 위해서는 스트레스를 잘 관리할 수 있도록 기업복지적인 측면에서 관심과 적극적인 지원이 필요하다. 본 연구는 직장인들의 스마트폰 중독에 이르는 경로를 밝혔다는 점에서 정책적인 시사점을 갖는다.

간호사의 감성지능이 자기효능감과 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향 - 자기효능감의 매개효과 검증 - (The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Self-Efficacy and Job Stress of Nurses - Mediating Role of Self-Efficacy -)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship among emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and job stress of nurses. Method: Data was collected from convenient sample of 265 nurses who work for a university hospital in a city. The Questionnaire measured the level of emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and job stress of nurses. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, scheffe' test, pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression. Result: The mean score of emotional intelligence was 3.41(${\pm}.37$), self-efficacy was 3.27(${\pm}.45$) and job stress was 3.35(${\pm}.65$). There were significant differences on self-efficacy according to age, marital status and education level. And there were significant differences on job stress according to age, working unit. It was a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and self-efficacy. The emotional intelligence and self-efficacy were significantly negative correlation with job stress. The emotional intelligence explained 24.8% of self-efficacy and 1.9% of job stress and self-efficacy explained 2.7% of job stress. And the self-efficacy was showed a mediate variable between emotional intelligence and job stress. Conclusion: To decrease job stress, nursing managers ought to develop the emotional intelligence and self-efficacy of nurses, reinforce as a mediating role between emotional intelligence and job stress

섬유패션산업 종사자의 직무스트레스 요인, 직무스트레스 징후 및 직무성과 (Job Stressors, Job Stress Symptoms and Job Performance of Workers in Fashion Industry)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate job stressors, job stress symptoms, and job performance of workers in fashion industry. The data were obtained from questionnaire completed by 529 workers who were employed in textile or clothing manufactures located in Seoul, Daegu, Busan, and Masan area. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which included frequency, mean, correlation, and factor analysis. Job stressors consisted of environmental related stressors, job related stressors(task characteristics and role characteristics) and organization related stressors(organization climate and career development). Most of job stressors were significantly correlated with job stress symptoms but their correlation coefficients were low. Among job stressors, quantitative work overload was found to be a major stressor. Workers in fashion industry appeared to evaluate their job performance relatively good. Also, it was found that behavioral and psychological symptoms were negatively correlated with job performance.

Arabidopsis PYL8 Plays an Important Role for ABA Signaling and Drought Stress Responses

  • Plants are frequently exposed to numerous environmental stresses such as dehydration and high salinity, and have developed elaborate mechanisms to counteract the deleterious effects of stress. The phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) plays a critical role as an integrator of plant responses to water-limited condition to activate ABA signal transduction pathway. Although perception of ABA has been suggested to be important, the function of each ABA receptor remains elusive in dehydration condition. Here, we show that ABA receptor, pyrabactin resistance-like protein 8 (PYL8), functions in dehydration conditions. Transgenic plants overexpressing PYL8 exhibited hypersensitive phenotype to ABA in seed germination, seedling growth and establishment. We found that hypersensitivity to ABA of transgenic plants results in high degrees of stomatal closure in response to ABA leading to low transpiration rates and ultimately more vulnerable to drought than the wild-type plants. In addition, high expression of ABA maker genes also contributes to altered drought tolerance phenotype. Overall, this work emphasizes the importance of ABA signaling by ABA receptor in stomata during defense response to drought stress.

정보시스템 운영인력의 직무 스트레스가 정서적 소진에 미치는 영향: 전문직 정체성의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The effect of job stress of system maintenance staff on emotion exhaustion: Focusing on the moderating effect of professional identity)

  • 4차 산업혁명은 정보통신 분야에 큰 변화를 가져오고 그로 인해 다양한 일자리가 창출될 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 신기술 등장에 따른 직무 스트레스와 불확실성으로 IT 인력의 심리적 불안감은 증대되고 있다. 연구자는 전문직 정체성이 정보시스템(IS) 운영인력의 직무 스트레스와 정서적 소진을 어떻게 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 실증연구를 위해 정보시스템 관리 및 지원업무를 담당하는 160명을 대상으로 설문을 배포하여 데이터를 수집하였고, SPSS 21을 사용하여 가설을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 직무 스트레스의 구성요소인 역할갈등, 역할모호, 질적 업무과부하는 정보시스템 운영인력의 정서적 소진에 영향을 미쳤으며, 전문직 정체성은 질적 업무과부하와 정서적 소진의 관계를 조절하고 있었다. 반면, 전문직 정체성은 역할갈등과 정서적 소진, 역할모호와 정서적 소진의 관계를 조절하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 전문직 정체성이 신기술 도입에 따른 심리적 부담과 정서적 소진을 조절하는 만큼, 조직에서는 개개인의 전문직 정체성을 높이기 위한 지원을 제공해야 할 것이다.

The Impact of Multiple Roles on Psychological Distress among Japanese Workers

  • Background: There has been considerable interest in Japanese society in the problem of work-related stress leading to depressive symptoms, and an increasing number of primary houseworkers maintain paid employment. The purpose of this study was to examine the differential impact of multiple roles associated with psychological distress among Japanese workers. Methods: We studied 722 men and women aged 18-83 years in a cross-sectional study. The K10 questionnaire was used to examine psychological distress. Results: The proportion of participants with psychological distress was higher in women (17.8%) compared with men (11.5%). Having three roles significantly decreased the risk of psychological distress [women: odds ratio (OR), 0.37-fold; men: OR, 0.41] compared with only one role. In working married women, there was significantly less psychological distress (OR, 0.27), and those with childrearing or caregiving responsibilities for elderly parents had significantly less psychological distress (OR, 0.38) than those with only an employment role. Similarly, working married men who had childrearing or caregiving responsibilities for elderly parents had significantly less psychological distress (OR, 0.41) than those who had only an employment role. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that participants who had only an employment role had an increased risk of psychological distress. The degree of psychological distress was not determined solely by the number of roles. It is important to have balance between work and family life to reduce role conflict and/or role submersion, which in turn may reduce the risk of psychological distress.

  • The importance of the role of plastic spin in the rate-dependent response of materials at large deformations is the main objective of this work. After a brief presentation of a general consitutive framework for visco-rigid plasticity at large strains an isotropic/kinematic hardening and a visco-rigid plastic model are used to analyze the stress-strain response under simple shear. A clear understanding of the role of plastic spin is achieved by obtaining numerical analyzed results for different stress values in which the plastic spin consititutive parameters interrelaste with the strain rate and other more conventional model constants, Especially this paper is concerned with introducing behaviors of Al7075

병사의 지각된 스트레스와 스트레스 반응에 관한 연구 (A Study on Stress and Symptoms of Stress in Soldiers in the Army)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure the level of stress and symptoms of stress (SOS) in soldiers and to investigate the factors that have effects on the symptoms of stress. Methods: Data was collected from soldiers of two military units located in north Kyounggi-Do from August 2 to 9, 2006 by using the survey instruments. Results: This research found that the average values on the level of stress and symptoms of stress were about $2.53{\pm}0.60$ (range 1.00-4.35) and $0.95{\pm}0.55$ (range 0.04-2.83), respectively. The things which affected symptoms of stress, according to this study, were the external factors in the military (${\beta}=.28$, p<.001), role and relation factors (${\beta}=.21$, p<.001), work factors (${\beta}=.15$, p=.01) and passive coping styles (${\beta}=.19$, p<.001). These variables explained 28% (F=36.68, p<.001) of the variance of the total symptoms of stress. Conclusion: This study suggests that soldiers need to under go stress management.
