Effects of Bat Type on the Swing Motion of High School Baseball Athletes

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting two kinds of bat swing behavior through kinematic analysis. Method: A total of 32 high school baseball players participated in this study. The ball was placed on the tee-ball in a position where the subject could easily swing and the standard bat swing was performed as quickly and as accurately as possible using aluminum bats and wooden bats. Results: The aluminum bat showed a rapid swing speed of about 1.79 m/sec compared to the wooden bat. The speed of the batted ball was found to be significantly greater for the aluminum bat than for the wooden bat. In addition, although the difference between the shoulder-pelvis rotation angle according to the type of bat was not indicated, there was a statistically significant difference between the aluminum bat and the wooden bat in terms of the rotational angular velocity. Conclusion: Even though the results can explain the difference between the bat swing speed and the speed of the batted ball depending on the bat's material, it is difficult to explain the difference depending on the type of bat at the shoulder-pelvis rotation angle. However, shoulder-pelvic rotation angular velocity appears to be higher for the aluminum bat, and the differences in the type of bat is considered to be related to the batting swing factor.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and explain the formation and characteristics of wooden church architecture in Andong area from 1902 to 1975. Especially, I tried to find out the characteristic of wooden construction and the influence of typical form of Andong church architecture to the small church of nearby Andong rural area. This study was carried out the actual inspection of existing architecture through analysis.

Strength Properties of Wooden Retaining Walls Manufactured with Pinus rigida Miller

  • The strength properties of wooden retaining wall which was made with pitch pine were evaluated. Wooden retaining wall was made with diameter 90 mm of pitch pine round posts treated with CUAZ-2 (Copper Azole). The length of the front stretcher of the retaining wall was 3,000 mm. The distance between the headers (the notched member) is 1,000 mm in center and is 900 mm in side. There were connections every 2,000 mm because actually the length of stretcher is limited in the retaining wall. The strength test was carried out according to connection type because the section between stretchers can act as a defect. A result of the strength test according to connection type confirms that connection does not act as defect because the strength of retaining wall in single stretcher is similar to that in the section between stretchers. The strength test of the wooden retaining wall was carried out in 5 types according to the condition of the base section. When the upper soil pressure was 9.8 kN/$m^2$, the maximum load of the retaining wall fixing the front foundation shows higher values than those of others. But the total deformation is lower in the retaining wall not to fix a base section than in that to fix a base section. It is thought that the retaining wall not to fix a base section shows low value because the deformation is distributed throughout the retaining wall and it is confirmed that the soil pressure affects supporting the structure because the deformation of the retaining wall under low pressure is 3~4 fold higher than those of others. The failure mode of the retaining wall is the overturning type because the high section is deformed. Mostly, the failure mode is the separation of the header in the notched section.

경주지역 목관·목곽묘의 전개와 사로국 (Development of Wooden Coffin(木棺) and Chamber(木槨) Tombs in Gyeongju(慶州) and Sarokuk(斯盧國))

  • 본고는 경주지역에서 발굴된 기원전 2세기에서 기원후 3세기대까지의 목관묘와 목곽묘에 대한 구조분석과 그 변화양상을 추적하여 사로국의 정치, 사회적인 동향과 성장과정을 살펴본 것이다. 한반도 서남부지역의 적석목관묘(積石木棺墓)가 기원전 2세기 후반 무렵 영남지방으로 파급되면서 경주지역에서도 철기가 부장된 군집묘(群集墓)가 조성되기 시작하며 이후 기원전 1세기 후반에는 한군현(漢郡縣)의 설치에 따라 대동강유역의 유이민이 진한(辰韓)으로 남하, 정착하면서 전한경(前漢鏡)과 와질토기(瓦質土器)가 부장된 중소형의 단순목관묘(單純木棺墓)가 경주지역에 등장하게 된다. 청동유물을 다량 부장한 독립묘(獨立墓)의 주인공은 군집묘보다는 상대적으로 높은 최상위 계층의 것으로 사제왕(司祭王)일 가능성이 높으며 경주의 각 곡간지역을 범위로 하는 지역집단의 수장묘(首長墓)로 추정된다. 기원후 2세기에 접어들면서 단순목관묘는 규모가 확대되고 부장유물의 종류와 양이 풍부해지는 경향을 보이는데 이를 잘 보여주는 것이 사라리 130호묘이다. 이것은 피장자의 주관 옆에 부장품을 넣은 목갑(木匣)을 설치하여 칠기(漆器)나 동경(銅鏡) 등의 위신재(威信財)를 부장한 것으로, 이와같은 구조는 평양을 중심으로 한 낙랑지역의 목곽묘에서 보이고 있다. 기존의 목관묘와 구조상에서 차이가 보이는 이러한 목관계목곽묘(木棺系木槨墓)의 출현은 변 진한의 철(鐵)을 매개로 한 낙랑과 이 지역과의 활발한 교섭관계를 대변해 주는 것이며 지리적으로 물류의 집산지 역할을 한 사라리 집단은 외부와의 유통과 교역을 장악하여 경주지역의 정치와 사회문화적인 거점으로서 위치한 것으로 보인다. 2세기 후반대 이후 정치체의 규모가 크게 성장한 경주지역의 분묘시설에는 부장유물의 안정적인 공간을 위한 곽(槨)이라는 개념이 정착하게 되었고, 소형묘와 입지상에 있어 차별성을 가진 대형의 장방형목곽묘가 3세기 전엽에 보편적으로 나타나게 된다. 이는 지배집단 내 계층분화의 양상을 반영하는 것으로 해석되며 대형묘가 소재하는 지역이 소국의 중심지로써 자리를 잡게 되었다. 이후 이 지역 목곽묘의 평면구조가 점차 길어지는 경향은 묘곽 내에 보다 넓은 공간을 확보하기 위한 것으로 결국, 3세기 후반대 부곽이라는 시설을 갖춘 경주식목곽묘(慶州式木槨墓: 동혈주부곽식목곽묘)의 등장을 가져온다. 소형의 부곽은 점차 길이가 길어져 4세기대에는 주곽의 크기에 이르는데, 이는 집단 내 계급의 분화가 급속도로 진전되면서 권력의 집중화가 표면화된 것으로 경주와 주변지역 대소집단간의 통합이 진전되는 분위기 속에서 집단 내의 질서를 일원화해가는 과정을 보여주는 것으로 이해 할 수 있다.

건축공법에 따른 북한의 주거환경 만족도 분석 연구 (Analysis of North Korea's Residential Environment Satisfaction According to Construction Method)

  • Recently, as the era of economic cooperation on the Korean Peninsula approaches, the role of the building sector, such as humanitarian reorganization of North Korean housing, is increasing. The purpose of this study is to find out the current location of North Korean housing standards through the North Korean Housing Survey. For the survey, a survey was conducted through 79 North Korean defectors. The main construction methods of North Korean housing are reinforced concrete, steel framed, wooden framed, masonry, and reinforced concrete walled and prefabricated. The residential environment satisfaction items consist of durability, waterproof, heating, ventilation, heat insulation, air tightness, mining, soundproofing, disaster safety, fire safety, and crime prevention. The result is as follows. The housing construction method in North Korea, which lived at that time, consisted of 21 people (30.88%) of reinforced concrete frames, 18 people (26.47%) of wooden frames, 17 people (25%) of masonry walls, 5 people of prefabricated structures (7.35%), and reinforced concrete. Two people (2.94%) were walled. Among these, the wooden frame type had the lowest satisfaction level for each item, and the reinforced concrete had a high level of dissatisfaction in the items of heating, confidentiality, and disaster safety, and the other item had a high level of satisfaction. The masonry wall type has a relatively high satisfaction level in terms of insulation, confidentiality, mining, and disaster safety.

한.중.일 목조 불탑의 비교론적 고찰(I) - 귀공포를 중심으로 - (A Comparative Study Wooden Stupa of Korea, Japan and China(I) - Focused on the Corner Bracket Set -)

  • As the corner of wooden pagoda forms the roof by closely bordering left and right eaves on the various purlins and angle rafters, it is designed for every face to be recognized as front whose structure system increases load to bear proportionally. The corner of wooden pagoda is inseparable with the corner bracket set as it becomes stable thanks to the corner bracket set structurally and load burden under restrained structure makes the corner bracket set really important. Accordingly, this study could figure out some facts by analyzing corner bracket sets of Palsangjeon of Beobjusa Temple in Korea, Seokgatap of Bulgungsa Temple in China and Ojungtap of Beobryungsa Temple in Japan which were constructed with pure wooden structure. This study demonstrated that corner bracket set played a pivotal role in keeping balance of concentrated load of corner (corner of opening) in each floor that contributed to the stability of wooden pagoda structurally despite multiple duplications of floors and also figured out the outfit of corner bracket set was subject to the floor type and the cross section of Gongpo installed on top of Pyeongju. Wooden pagodas in 3 countries were two floor types of octagon and square, and employed different connection method between upper and lower floors. The difference between floor and duplication method determines the method of corner, but even different methods were sufficient to have entirety in every side by completing dynamic principle of corner bracket set even though old method had to solve the problem of concentrated load and it also confirms that it was essential Gongpo to prevent any deformation of corner.

Stock composition and Renovation Possibility of urban Style Row-rise Houses for rent

  • Urban style row-rise houses for rent have been supplied to the center of city from the 1950's first half The amount of stock is about 450,000 houses and occupies about 40% in the private rented house. As for the structure, the 60% of them is wooden-structure and the rest is non-wooden. Stocks of 57.5% of the wooden-structure and 86% of the non-wooden were built after 1981 years. It was 1981 years that the new earthquake-resistant standard was carried out, the improvement of stocks built before 1981 is necessary because those don't satisfy the present standard. To investigate the renovation possibility of urban style row-rise houses for rent, actual situation of two-story apartment at 2,4, and 5 Chome Taito-Ku in Tokyo was surveyed from July to November 2001. The number of building analyzed is 227 ridges among 234 ridges of the surveyed two-story building. 90% of building analyzed is wooden structure. 1) The site of 88% building surveyed is close to a road less than 4m width. It becomes the existing non-conformed building in the building construction act. It is impossible to make a renovation such as rebuilding, extension and remodeling because it requires the set back when renovating this type of non-conformed building, 2) The building built before 1981 is almost wooden-structure, and occupies 37% of the building surveyed, and doesn't satisfy the present earthquake-resistant standard. An improvement of them is needed because the decrepitude of building proceeds. 3) 50% of openings and 40% of windows of the building surveyed doesn't use noncombustible materials. Though it becomes the existing non-conformed building, it can satisfy the present standard by replacing openings with noncombustible materials.

목조문화재 열화 및 보존기술에 관한 연구(제2보) -장경각 구조부재중 실내 판가 기둥의 생물적 열화 특성- (Deterioration and Preservation Technique of Wooden Cultural Properties (Part 2) -Biodeterioration of Square Post to Support Wooden Printing Blocks Shelves, Janggeongpanjeon-)

  • 팔만대장경판을 보관하고 있는 장경판전 내부의 판가 기둥에 대하여 생물적 열화 특성을 조사 연구하였다. 장경판전의 법보전과 수다라장의 판가기둥을 대상으로 연구 검토한 결과, 서가의 위치 및 부위 그리고 주변 환경에 따라 다양한 열화 현상이 있음이 밝혀졌다. 부재의 주요 열화는 미생물에 의한 부후현상으로 밝혀졌으나, 부후가 나타난 부분들은 초석에 접촉된 부위였으며 부후 정도가 매우 극심한 상태를 보였다. 법보전 판가기둥 부후가 더 심했다. 부후형은 백색부후형이 많았다. 그리고 일부판가기둥에서는 곰팡이류의 표면오염이 극심한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 동북, 서북, 북향에 위치한 부재에 더 심한 열화가 나타났으며 건물내부의 전면보다는 후면에 위치한 판가 부재의 부후가 심한 것으로 밝혀졌다 해충에 의한 피해는 거의 없었다.

충청지역 성공회 성당건축의 특성 (The Characteristic of Anglican Church Architecture in Chungcheong Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of wooden anglican church architecture in Chungcheong area. For this study, I have selected ten anglican churches, and have studied the characteristic through the actual survey and analysis. This study focuses on the architectural characteristics and evolution of wooden anglican church in chungcheong area, based on the actual survey and historical analysis. The results of this study is as follows:1)The shape of plan is long axis composed of the entry and altar. 2)The shape of elevation is composed of the roof form and existence and nonexistence of bell-tower. 3)The shape of section in divided into one kan and three kan way, by the existence and nonexistence of a row of columns in the interior. 4)The structure and design follows roof-framing.
