Selective Growth of Freestanding Carbon Nanotubes Using Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (플라즈마 기상 화학 증착법을 이용한 탄소나노튜브의 선택적 수직성장 기술)

  • Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is one of the various synthesis methods that have been employed for carbon nanotube (CNT) growth. In particular, Ren et al reported that large areas of vertically aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes could be grown using a direct current (dc) PECVD system. The synthesis of CNT requires a metal catalyst layer, etchant gas, and a carbon source. In this work, the substrates consists of Si wafers with Ni-deposited film. Ammonia $NH_3$) and acetylene ($C_2H_2$) were used as the etchant gases and carbon source, respectively. Pretreated conditions had an influence on vertical growth and density of CNTs. And patterned growth of CNTs could be achieved by lithographical defining the Ni catalyst prior to growth. The length of single CNT was increased as niclel dot size increased, but the growth rate was reduced when nickel dot size was more than 200 nm due to the synthesis of several CNTs on single Ni dot. The morphology of the carbon nanotubes by TEM showed that vertical CNTs were multi-wall and tip-type growth mode structure in which a Ni cap was at the end of the CNT.

태양풍 관측기 시제품 개발

  • 태양으로부터 날아오는 고에너지 하전 입자들은 인공위성이나 지구의 통신장비에 심각한 고장을 일으킬 수 있다. 이런 사고를 방지하기 위해서는 사전에 태양풍의 물리량을 알아내는 것이 중요하다. 이를 위해 inter planetary scintillation 현상을 이용하여 태양풍의 운동을 예보하는 시스템을 전파연구소와 협력하여 개발할 예정이다. 그 첫 단계로 이 시스템보다 작은 규모의 시제품을 만들어 동작을 입증하고자 한다. 이 시제품은 각각 16개의 다이폴 안테나로 구성된 타일 3개로 이루어져 있다. 다이폴 안테나들의 중심주파수는 350MHz이고, 대역폭은 약10MHz이다. 48개의 다이폴 안테나들의 총 집광면적은 약 30m2이고, 타일 내의 다이폴 안테나들을 나선형으로 배열해 grating lobe의 크기를 감소시켰다. 각 안테나에서 나오는 신호는 저 잡음의 LNA를 이용해 증폭하여 beam former로 인가된다. Beam former는 안테나에서 나오는 신호의 위상을 조절하고 합쳐서 약 15도 크기의 빔을 만들고 전자적으로 천체를 추적한다. Beam former에서 나온 신호는 수신기에서 저주파의 신호로 변환되는데, 국부발진기를 조절하여 radio frequency interference에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있도록 하였다. 수신기에서 나오는 아날로그 신호는 digitizer를 최대 107sps의 빠르기로 2바이트의 디지털 신호로 전환된다. Labview 프로그램을 사용하여 3개의 타일에서 나온 신호를 합성해서 태양 근처의 전파원을 추적하도록 하였다.

Simplified Parametric Study on M125 Booster Mechanism and its Application for Determining the Characteristic Constant of Arming Distance (M125 부스터 메카니즘의 해석 및 응용)

  • M125 booster is one of the reliable S&A device(safety and arming device) to determine the arming distance of fuze for gun ammunitions from 90 mm to 8 inch in diameter. And it is also well known that the arming distance of M125 booster is determined by the multiplication value of the gun tube property(traveled distance per turn of projectile) and the S&A device property(number of turns to arm), not by the projectile muzzle velocity. We have tried and succeeded in executing a proper analysis on M125 booster to figure out its characteristic constant of arming distance by considering only the gun tube properties and the S&A device properties. More detailed arming distance will be analyzed in the future by considering dynamic characteristics on all elements in the S&A device with vector analysis.

  • Steady state and transient thermal analysis has been done by a finite element method in a diode of 12kV blocking voltage for microwave oven. The diode was fabricated by soldering ten pieces of 1200V diodes in series, capping a dummy wafer at the far end of diode series, and finally copper wire bonded for building anode and cathode terminal. In order to achieve high voltage and reliability, the edge of each diode was beveled and passivated by resin and epoxy with a thickness of 25$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 3,700$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. The chip size, thickness and material properties were very important factor for high voltage diode package. And also, thermal stress value was highest in the edge of diode and solder. So, design of edge in silicon was very important to thermal stress.

  • High temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable is expected to be used for power transmission lines supplying electric power for densely populated cities in the near future. Commercializing of HTS power cable is coming. Simulation is required for safety before install of HTS power cable, 3 fabrication model used at the power system simulation. In this paper, we shows a single line-to ground fault analysis in the grid system which has a loom length HTS power cable. The authors developed a single line-to-ground fault current calculation method which is considering the shield layer of HTS power cable. In the calculation, the T type equivalent circuit is used to derive the mutual inductance of the HTS power cable.

  • Indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) films were deposited at room temperature via RF sputtering with varying the flow rate of additive nitrogen gas ($N_2$). Thin film transistors (TFTs) with an inverted staggered configuration were fabricated by employing the various IZO films, such as $N_2$-added and pure (i.e., w/o $N_2$-added), as active channel layers. For all the deposited IZO films, effects of additive $N_2$ gas on their deposition rates, electrical resistivities, optical transmittances and bandgaps, and chemical structures were extensively investigated. Transfer characteristics of the IZO-based TFTs were measured and characterized in terms of the flow rate of additive $N_2$ gas. The experimental results indicated that the transistor action occurred when the $N_2$-added (with $N_2$ flow rate of 0.4-1.0 sccm) IZO films were used as the active layer, in contrast to the case of using the pure IZO film.

Optimization of Ascorbic Acid-2-Phosphate Production from Ascorbic Acid Using Resting Cell of Brevundimonas diminuta

  • With the aim to produce ascorbic acid-2-phosphate(AsA-2-P) from L-ascorbic acid(AsA, Vitamin C), nine bacteria conferring the ability to transform AsA to AsA-2-P were isolated from soil samples alongside known strains from culture collections. Most isolates were classified to the genus Brevundimonas by 16S phylogenetic analysis. Among them, Brevundimonas diminuta KACC 10306 was selected as the experimental strain because of its the highest productivity of AsA-2-P. The optimum set of conditions for the AsA-2-P production from AsA using resting cells as the source of the enzyme was also investigated. The optimum cultivation time was 16 h and the cell concentration was 120g/l(wet weight). The optimum concentrations of AsA and pyrophosphate were 550mM and 450mM, respectively. The most effective buffer was 50mM sodium formate. The optimum pH was 4.5 and temperature was $40^{\circ}C$. Under the above conditions, 27.5g/l of AsA-2-P was produced from AsA after 36 h of incubation, which corresponded to a 19.7% conversion efficiency based on the initial concentration of AsA.

Effects of Antibiotics, Fenbendazole and Lincomycin, in Benthic Copepod, Tigriopus japonicus s.l. (저서성 요각류 Tigriopus japonicus s.l.에서 항생제 Fenbendazole과 Lincomycin의 영향)

  • The ecotoxicological effects of two antibiotics, fenbendazole and lincomycin, were observed in the harpacticoid copepod Tigriopus japonicus s.l. collected from tidal pools in the southern coast of Korea. Fenbendazole had a significant effect on the survival rates (p < 0.05), delay of copepodite emergence, and urosome size (p < 0.05). Lincomycin, on the other hand, had no significant influence on these environmental indicators. However, our analysis of morphological abnormalities in T. japonicus s.l. showed that lincomycin was more effective than fenbendazole in causing deformities. The pattern of deformity was diverse, with fused segments, and loss or addition of setae in the swimming legs. All of these patterns appeared as a result of relatively low concentrations of this antibiotic (0.3, $1\;{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$). We report here patterns of morphological abnormality in T. japonicus s.l. exposed to antibiotics, and suggest their possible application in ecotoxicological monitoring.

  • This paper describes the design of a 5th order Elliptic CMOS Gm-C low-voltage filter for the RFID reader IC. The designed filter is composed of CMOS differential transconductors by parallel gain circuits to improve the gain of the conventional self-biased differential amplifier. The filter is designed to operate in low-voltage 1.8V to meet the specification of the RFID reader filter. The results of HSPICE simulation using 1.8V-0.18${\mu}m$CMOS processing parameter showed that the designed 5th order Elliptic low-pass filter satisfied the cutoff frequency of 1.35MHz given by the design specification.

A study for properties of AZO thin film prepared to Ar-plasma treatment using ICP-CVD (ICP-CVD에 의해 Ar 플라즈마 처리된 AZO 박막의 표면 거칠기에 관한 연구)

  • ICP-CVD(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Chemical Vapor Deposition)를 이용하여 플라즈마 처리에 따른 Al이 도핑된 ZnO(AZO) 박막의 표면 부착력과 굴절율, 표면거칠기에 관한 연구를 하였다. 플라즈마 처리는 인가전압, 시간을 변수로 하였고 반응 가스는 Ar을 사용하였다. 표면조성은 AFM, 광학적 특성은 UV-Vis 분광계를 이용한 광투과도 측정으로부터 굴절률과 밴드갭을 조사하였고 표면 부착력은 접촉각 분석기(제조사:Kruss)를 사용하여 조사하였다. 플라즈마 처리 시간이 길어짐에 따라 박막 표면의 거칠기가 커지고 부착력은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
