The timing of sexual maturation and secular trends of menarchial age in Korean adolescents (한국 청소년의 성성숙 시기 및 장기간의 초경연령 추세분석)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the timing of sexual maturation and secular trends of menarchial age in Korean adolescents. Methods : Nine hundred eighty two school students and 119 university female students were included. Tanner's pubertal assessment method was applied using a self-assessment sheet with pictures for their developmental stages. A medical checkup database from 1,156,022 women was also used to analyze the age of menarche from the year 1900 to 1980. Results : Onset of puberty was at $11.3{\pm}1.3$ years(y) in girls and $12.1{\pm}1.5$ y in boys and total pubertal duration was 3.6 y in girls and 3.3 y in boys. Height at the onset of puberty was $146.1{\pm}7.9cm$ in girls and $152.7{\pm}9.8cm$ in boys. Weight at the onset of puberty was $39.3{\pm}6.9kg$ in girls and $47.7{\pm}14.4kg$ in boys. The mean age of menarche was $12.0{\pm}1.0y$ and mean age at nocturnal emission was $12.3{\pm}1.8y$. By age ten, 3.0 percent of girls experienced menarche, which increased to 41.1 percent by age 12, and 98.0 percent by age over 15. By SMR 2 breast stage, 18.2 percent of girls experienced menarche, which increased to 66.1 percent and 91.7 percent by SMR stages 3 and 4, respectively. By SMR 2 pubic hair stage, 52.0 percent and by SMR 3, 93.8 percent of girls experienced menarche. While the menarchial age of women born around 1980 was $12.4{\pm}1.1y$, the menarchial age of women born around 1990 was $12.0{\pm}1.1y$. Age at menarche has been advanced approximately by 2 years between 1900 and 1980 birth cohorts. Conclusion : There was a downward secular trend in pubertal timing. Age at menarche has been advanced by 2 years during the last 80 years. Further large scale, prospective studies, including inspection by specialists, are needed to provide reference data for pubertal timing in Korean adolescents.

The research trends of papers in the journal of korean society of dental hygiene (한국치위생학회지 게재논문의 연구동향 분석)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze 356 papers included in the Journal of the Korean Society of Dental Hygiene between 2000 when the initial number was issued and April, 2010. The papers involved articles, treatises, theses and dissertations. Methods : According to existing literature related to paper analysis, all the journals were analyzed by year to find out the subjects of the studies, places for data gathering, the presence or absence of research funds supplied, the number of researchers, research methods, methods of data collection, themes and data analysis methods. Results : As for subjects, the largest group of the papers that numbered 69(20.7%) examined dental hygienists, and the second biggest group that numbered 65(19.5%) examined dental hygienists and students. The third greatest group that numbered 47(14.2%) examined patients at dental hospitals and clinics. Concerning places of data gathering, schools(37.1%) were the most common places where data were collected, followed by dental hospitals/clinics(31.6%) and laboratories(7.4%). In terms of research design, research studies accounted for 88.5%, and experimental studies accounted for 11.5%. Research studies were far more prevalent. Concerning themes, there were 76 kinds of concepts that the studies dealt with, and the most dominant concepts were oral health awareness and behavior, which 34 studies focused on(9.6%). 10 studies or more were concerned with dental service, oral health status, dental hygiene education, infection control, oral health education, job satisfaction and stress. As to data analysis methods, frequency analysis was most dominant, followed by Chi-square test, t-test, analysis of variance, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Most of the studies made use of quantitative research methods. Conclusions : The effort by this study to analyze the papers included in the Journal of the Korean Society of Dental Hygiene to grasp research trends in the field of dental hygiene is expected to be of some use for the determination of the right directions of dental hygiene research in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the customer's attitudes and behavioral responses, depending on the persuasion tactics of salespeople in customer service and meeting point. The tactics of persuasion of customer acceptance and purchase depending on the type of salesperson with proven effectiveness of even comes out to investigate what results according to the purchase form and the customer that the customer consumes gender. Results First, the tactics of persuasion tactics of coercive tactics to mention the loss of a salesman showed that increasing the degree of acceptance than non-coercive tactics to help consumers buy the information provided above. Second, coercive tactics to adjust the effect with respect to the degree of acceptance of the purchase of helping consumers to purchase in the online form has been proven to be more effective than non-coercive tactics case. Third, adjusted for gender effects were proven to help women with respect to the degree of acceptance of a consumer purchases more effective than men. That is, in consumer contacts, the persuasion tactics of salespeople depending on the customer's acceptance and purchasing intention showed that coercive tactics has the more positive impact on online forms and women.

Anger, Anger Expression, Psychoticism, Addiction, and Coping among Aggressive Victims of Dating Violence (공격적 데이트 폭력 피해여성의 분노 및 분노표현, 정신병적 경향성, 중독성과 대처방식)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore anger and its expression, psychoticism, addiction, and coping styles of victims, especially aggressive victims of dating violence, and to provide valuable information for prevention of dating violence and rehabilitation of victims. The participants were 477 female college students who had the experience of heterosexual dating relationships, whose ages ranged from 17 to 29 (M=20.59, SD=1.44). The psychological tests used in this research included the following: Straus' Conflict Tactics Scale, Spielberger's State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory, Eysenck Personalty Inventory, and multidimensional Coping Scale. Results revealed that victims only were more likely to receive violence as well as sexual harassments from their dating partners than aggressive victims of dating violence. Aggressive victims of dating violence showed higher level of trait anger and anger-out, and difficulty in control their anger than victim only and women who had not experienced dating violence. In addition, they also revealed symptoms of paychoticism and addiction. And aggressive victims of dating violence showed less active coping and more active forgetting and renunciation than victims only and women who had not experienced dating violence. Victims only of dating violence more like to criticize themselves and pursue religious coping than aggressive victims. Researcher discussed these results with previous studies.

Research on the Food Habits of Housewives of Korean Students Residing in a Southern Region of Texas, U.S.A. (미국 Texas 일부 지역에 거주하는 한국 유학생 부인들의 식생활습관에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to research on the preparing fermented foods and food habits of Korean women in Texas U. S. A. The preparing method of fermented foods and food habits of Korean housewives whose husbands are studying at the various universities in Houston, Texas are surveyed. The analysed results indicated were as follows ; 1. 64.4% of women were in the thirties at their age, those in twenties 29.7%. 75.2% of subject graduated college. Period of residence in America were 52.5% under 3yr, 25.7% over 5yr. The respondents were aged twenties(29.7%) to thirties(64.4%) who have graduated from college(75.2%) or graduate school(24.8%) and have had the residence period of less than three-(52.5%) to more than five years(25.7%). 2. The kind of cuisine chosen for dinner were Korean style food. The most considerable person when preparing menu were husband. 48.51% of those in age were 3∼39yr(p < 0.1). 60.40% of the response graduated college(p < 0.1). The Korean-style foods overwhelmed over western ones in their frequency for dinner(82.2% vs. 17.8%). The person most considered for choosing menu was their husbands as responded by the majority groups of aged thirties(48.5%), college graduates(60.4%) and residence period of less than three years(42.6%). They satisfied comparatively when they prepared the meal (p < 0.1). 55.4% of the response learned cooking method from neighbor, 39.6% of remainder studied from cuisine book, newspaper, magazine, TV. They satisfied comparatively for the preparation of the meal(56.4%) and have learned the new methods of cooking from neighborhoods(55.4%) or cuisine book, newspaper, magazine and TV(39.6%). 3. The frequency of eating-out mostly had once a month. 30.69% of response were 30∼39yr(p < 0.1). 33.66% of subjects lived under 3yr in America. Eating-out once a month occupied 30.7, 33.7, and 20.7% of the selected group of aged thirties, college graduates, and residence periods of less than three years, each respectively. The type of food selecting eating-out were western style. 38.31% of them were 30∼39yr(p < 0.1). 39.60% of them graduated college(p < 0.1). 29.70% of them lived under 3yr in America. For eating-out menu, the western-style foods were most favored by the groups of aged thirties(38.3%), college graduates(39.6%), and residence periods of less than three years(29.7%). 4. 50.5% of subject had beef once three days, 23.8% of the response had pork once two weeks, 27.7% of subject ate chicken once two weeks, 34.7% of the response enjoyed fish once a week. Eating animal foods once three days for beef(50.5%), once two weeks for pork(23.8%) and chicken(27.7%), and once a week for fish(34.7%) were most frequent. 5. Korean traditional fermented food were mostly enjoyed in order of kanjang(91.1 %), kochujang(87.2%), fermented fish(85.1%), deonjang(81.2%), jang-a-chi(76.2%). 81.2% of subject used prepared-food by themselves. 56.4% of response made kimch at home. Among Korean traditional fermented foods, kimchi(56.4%) and prepared side dishes(81.2%) were provided at home while kanjang(91.1%), kochujang(87.2%), fermented fish(85.1%), deonjang(81.2%), and jang-a-chi(76.2%) were mostly purchased from stores.

Appearance and happiness index according to whether or not heterosexual friend (보건계열의 학생과 일반대학생의 이성 친구 여부에 따른 외모관심도와 행복지수)

  • Purpose. In this study, we aim to clarify the correlation between happiness, appearance, and happiness index among many happiness factors based on the influence of quality of life on the quality of life and the affect of appearance on the happiness index. Methods. We conducted a self - filling questionnaire survey for college students in Busan from March 30 to May 10, 2017, and analyzed 392 copies of the 412 questionnaires, excluding 20 inappropriate copies. In the questionnaire, categorical data were analyzed by frequency and percentage (%) using the SPSS program (ver. 23.0, Chicago, Illinois, USA) by examining 11 items of general characteristics, successive data are presented as mean standard deviation. Results. The higher the grades, the better the dating. Women(3.32) are more likely than men(2.74) at the appearance interest(p>0.001) and the higher the grades, the better. If it's dating someone else, higher than not to do at the appearance interest and all of the questions showed higher interest in appearance. Also there was a high percentage of thought'My life is ideal in all aspects'If it's dating someone else, higher than not to do (p=0.007) Conclusion. At present, There is a high interest in the appearance of dating. In addition, the happiness index according to the current resentment status was higher in both the single item happiness index and the 5 item happiness index, and was significant in the item "My life is ideal in all aspects". Therefore, it is related to the happiness index as well as the appearance interest. Finally, whether or not dating and appearance interest play a role in raising the happiness of the individual.

A Comparison of a Pattern Cutting Module for First Year Students between UK and Korean College Course

  • 본 논문은 현재 패턴구성 과정에 있는 1년 차 영국과 한국 학생들의 교육체제를 연구 비교 하므로써 그 차이점을 알아보고 궁극적으로 나아가야 할 방향에 대해서 연구되었다. 우선 두 나라의 교육체계에 관해 간단한 배경 설명 후에 학제의 시작이 두 나라 사이에 큰 차이점이 있음을 강조하였다. 본 논문은 일차자료와 이차자료를 모두 이용하였으며 설문지 내용은 지면 할애상 생략하였다. 본문에서는 첫 번째로 강의 방법에 대해 알아보았으며 두 나라간의 교수 형식으로는 큰 차이를 볼 수 가 없었다. 그 다음으로는 교수의 자격 요건 이었으며 연령대가 다른 차이점 이외에는 큰 차이점을 볼 수 없었다. 또한 교수법에 있어 가장 중요한 열정과 동기부여 등을 강조하였다. 이론적인 수업은 한국의 대학에서 강조된 반면 영국에서는 실질적인 부분을 강조함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 한국의 경우 대부분의 학생들이 수업의 진행을 위해 교과서를 구입해야 하는 반면 영국 학생들의 경우 자세한 설명이 첨부된 복사물을 받아 수업을 받고 있었다. 그 이유는 학생들의 수업능력 차이에 있으며 또 한가지는 경제적 문제라고 할 수 있다. 한국의 학생 정원은 40명이었으며 대부분의 학생들이 거의 포기하지 않고 졸업을 하는 반면, 본인이 조사한 대학의 경우, 25명의 정원으로 시작하였으나 여러 가지 개인 사정으로 조사 당시 15명의 인원수만 남아 있었다. 적은 수의 학생수는 곧 수업의 질과 연관됨을 알 수 있었다. 두 나라의 학생수업 능력과 학생 수가 많이 달라 영국 학생들의 경우 선생에게 의지하려는 경향을 많이 보인 반면 한국학생들은 독립적인 특징들을 보였다. 두 나라 학생들 모두 과제물을 많이 받고 있었으며 2학년 말에는 의상발표회를 하는 공통점을 보였다. 평가 방법상에서는 큰 차이가 보였다. 영국의 경우 평가에 관한 사항을 아주 세분화하여 공식적으로 책자를 만들어 그 규칙을 철저히 지키도록 한 반면, 한국의 경우에는 정해진 세부사항 없이 크게 ABCD체제의 방식과 출석상황, 중간고사, 기말고사, 과제물 완성도 등을 퍼센티지로 나누어 평가하고 있었다. 학생들에게 주어지는 균등한 기회나 평등의 문제도 학생들의 자격, 신분 등이 거의 다르지 않은 한국에서는 그리 중요한 사항은 아니었으나 다민족 국민으로 이루어진 영국의 학생들에게는 아주 민감한 사항임을 알 수 있었다.

Effects of Food Consumption Monitoring Using Modified Rice Bowls on Food Intake, Satiety Rate, and Eating Rate (모니터링 강화 밥그릇이 섭취량과 포만도 및 섭취속도에 미치는 영향)

  • The study examined dietary intake, satiety rate, and eating rate using rice bowls with an elevated bottom (diet rice bowl) and rice bowls with an elevated bottom and monitoring line (monitoring rice bowl). The monitoring rice bowl was used to help subjects monitor amounts they had eaten as they ate. Eighteen normal weight college female students participated in this study once a week for 2 weeks. Three hundred grams of fried rice in a diet rice bowl (1st week), and 300 g of fried rice in a monitoring rice bowl were served to the participants over 2 consecutive weeks. After each lunch, dietary intake, satiety rate, and eating rate were measured. The consumption amount of fried rice was 261.6 g in the diet rice bowl group, and 264.8 g in the monitoring rice bowl group. There was no significant difference in fried rice intake between the two groups. The satiety rate of fried rice in the monitoring rice bowl group was significantly higher than that of the diet rice bowl group after 1 hour and 2 hours (P<0.05). The eating rate of the diet rice bowl group (21.3 g/min) was significantly faster than that of the monitoring rice bowl group (18.7 g/min) (P<0.05). This result shows that food consumption monitoring can affect not only eating rate but also the subjective feelings of satiety after meal eating. Although more study is needed, these data suggest consumption monitoring in a rice bowl may help to control obesity and weight.

The Effect of Congruency of Parent Brand Image with Self-Image, Brand Loyalty, and Brand Involvement on the Attitude towards Extended Product in Fashion Brand Extension (패션브랜드 확장시 모브랜드와의 자아이미지 일치성과 충성도, 브랜드 관여도가 확장제품의 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Today, many fashion companies use brand extension and it is especially important to conduct brand extension that coincides with consumer self-image, and maintains brand loyalty in order to succeed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of congruency of parent brand image with self-image, brand loyalty, and brand involvement on the attitude towards extended product in fashion brand extension. A survey questionnaire was used to collect information from 170 female college students, and collected data were subjected to descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis. Results showed that the congruency of parent brand image with self-image had a positive effect on the attitude towards extended product in fashion brand extension, with a positive mediating effect of brand loyalty, and a negative mediating effect of brand involvement. Also, the congruency of parent brand image with self-image and brand loyalty of the parent brand had a positive effect on the attitude towards the extended product, whereas brand involvement had a negative mediating effect on the attitude towards the extended product in fashion brand extension. The results of this study provide some useful suggestions to marketers in fashion industry: marketers should consider some psychological aspects of consumers such as congruency of parent brand image with self-image, brand loyalty, and brand involvement when conducting brand extension.

  • The researcher conducts the following research to correctly identify the gifted children of science information. First, the researcher makes sufficient theoretic research on gifted children for the sake of definition and identification of the gifted children of information science, and reconstructed the identification principles, factors and procedures of the gifted children of information science on the basis of those of the gifted children of math and science the theories of a number of scholars and presented new methods of identifying new gifted children of information science. Second, the researcher set the identification procedures of the gifted children of information science and the relevant content and conducted the identification of gifted children through the observation and evaluation of sixth graders through three stages. Third, the researcher compares and analyzed the selected gifted children based on the identification procedures and ordinary groups of students excellent in math and science in terms of task achievement and looked into validity.
