In today's world, most children are exposed to various manmade electromagnetic fields (EMFs). EMFs are electromagnetic waves less than 300 GHz. A developing child's brain is vulnerable to electromagnetic radiation; thus, their caregivers' concerns about the health effects of EMFs are increasing. EMF exposure is divided into 2 categories: extremely low frequencies (ELFs; 3-3,000 Hz), involving high-voltage transmission lines and in-house wiring; and radiofrequencies (RFs; 30 kHz to 300 GHz), involving mobile phones, smart devices, base stations, WiFi, and 5G technologies. The biological effects of EMFs on humans include stimulation, thermal, and nonthermal, the latter of which is the least known. Among the various health issues related to EMFs, the most important issue is human carcinogenicity. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer's (IARC's) evaluation of carcinogenic risks to humans, ELFs and RFs were evaluated as possible human carcinogens (Group 2B). However, the World Health Organization's (WHO's) view of EMFs remains undetermined. This article reviews the current knowledge of EMF exposure on humans, specifically children. EMF exposure sources, biological effects, current WHO and IARC opinions on carcinogenicity, and effects of EMF exposures on children will be discussed. As well-controlled EMF experiments in children are nearly impossible, scientific knowledge should be interpreted objectively. Precautionary approaches are recommended for children until the potential health effects of EMF are confirmed.

Temperature of fresh concrete can be effectively used to predict the strength of concrete being cured and make an informed decision for stripping the molds. A hygrothermograph and thermo-couple sensors that require an extensive wiring have been applied to measure a temperature of concrete at the early stage of the curing process on site. However, these methods have limits to provide the temperature data in real time due to harsh working environment including frequent cutting of wires. Therefore, this study is aiming at developing a device based on wireless sensor network to measure the temperature of concrete being cured in formwork. The result showed that the wireless sensor with probe type thermistor which is developed had the same temperature data compared to the existed wire type thermistor, and we confirmed the temperature history of concrete in real time for 28 days throughout the gateway by wireless network that collects the temperature data measured from specimens in laboratory. Also, the network device for transmission can be easily separated from the probe sensor part and reused consistently. If the wireless sensor network device developed uses in the field, the temperature management of concrete will be systematically conducted from at the early stage of the curing, and especially be effective for cold weather concrete construction. In addition, it will contribute to the establishment of advanced quality control system for concrete and productivity of supervisors on site will be increased in the future.

Fire accidents often happen in large buildings because large buildings are equipped with heavy electrical wiring and piping. When fire is to be occurred in those buildings, it is very dangerous to People and building structures. Therefore, multi-point wireless temperature sensors for large buildings are necessary in order to detect fire in the early time and thus to minimize the loss. A wireless device was composed of the transmitter and receiver. The specification of this device was as follows: 915MHz of transmitted frequency, 4 channels, 9600bps of the transmitted speed, and 10mW of the transmitted power. We confirmed through experiment that the temperature was well sensed and fire location was determined by the 4 channel sensors of the developed sensor system.
The major causes of electrical fire are classified to short circuit fault, overload fault, electric leakage and electric contact failure. The occurrence factor of the fire is electric arc or spark accompanied with electrical faults. Residual Current Protective Device(RCD) of high sensitivity type used at low voltage wiring cuts off earth leakage and overload, but the RCD can't cut off electric arc or spark to be a major factor of electrical fire. As the RCDs which are applied low voltage distribution panel are prescribed to rated breaking time about 30[ms](KS C 4613), the RCDs can't perceive to the periodic electric arc or spark of more short wavelength level. To be improved on such problem, this paper is proposed to a auxiliary control apparatus for RCD trip on electric arc or spark due to electrical fire. Some experimental results of the proposed apparatus is confirmed to the validity of the analytical results.

Recently, mobile devices have evolved into small computers with various functions according to user requirements. Careful attention must be paid to the design of the power supply network for the stable operation of the application processor (AP), the wireless communication modem, the high performance camera, and the various interfaces of the mobile device to implement various functions of the mobile device. In this paper, we analyzed and verified the method of optimizing the design parameters such as the position, capacity, and number of decoupling capacitors to meet the target impedance required by the driver IC chip to ensure the stability of the power supply network of mobile devices that should be designed as wiring type due to mounting density limitation. The proposed wired power supply network design method can be applied to various applications including high-speed signal transmission line in addition to mobile applications.

An aircraft power distribution device distributes and controls the power generated by the generator and provides overcurrent protection. There are many defect phenomena that make AC power distribution impossible during flight, which poses a problem in because some electronic equipment cannot be operated. We describe a process of deriving the root cause of defects by using vibration testing equipment to simulate the vibration conditions during aircraft flight, which result in defects. The results show that the cause of the defect is internal wiring damage caused by the vibration of the contactor of the AC power distribution device. Therefore, the shape of the contactor was improved to solve this problem. We also improved the test procedure by performing defect detection tests using vibration testing equipment to detect a faulty contactor. As a result of the improvements, a component certification test and flight test proved that the defect phenomena of the AC electrical master box were improved.

The distributing board in directly installed on the ground or the bottom surface of the building, and when vibrations such as earthquakes or external shocks occur, the possibility of damage or malfunction of electric components such as internal power devices, wiring, and protection relays increases. Recently, the need for a seismic type distributing board is increasing, and research and development of a distributing board having a vibration damping function and product launch are being conducted. In this paper, an IoT-based data collection device system capable of measuring vibration and environmental data of distributing board was designed and implemented. When vibration occurred on the distributing board, data was stored and visualized in the MySQL DB through Node-RED for monitoring and data storage using the MQTT protocol for reliable messaging transmission. The test was conducted by attaching the IoT device of the distributing board, and data was collected in real-time and monitored through Node-RED.

Recently, RES (renewable energy source) projects have been spreading all over the world as an alternative to solve the shortage of energy and environmental problems caused by fossil fuel consumption. The Korean government also supported the policy and demonstration project to increase the proportion of renewable energy to 63.8[GW] until 2030, which is 20[%] of the total power generation. On the other hand, output loss of a PV array can occur when the surrounding high-rise buildings and trees shade a PV array. Therefore, this paper proposes an algorithm to improve the output loss of a PV array, which electrically changes a circuit configuration of PV modules by wiring and switching devices. Furthermore, this study modeled a PV system based on PSIM S/W, which was composed of a PV array, a circuit configuration device, and a grid-connected inverter. From the simulations results with the modeling and test device, the existing method showed no output when 50% of the shade occurs in PV modules. In contrast, the proposed method could produce the output because the voltage in the PV module could be restored to 246[V], and the operation efficiency of the PV system could be improved by the operation algorithm of the circuit configuration device.

Electronic devices have been evolved to be mechanically flexible that can be endured repetitive deformation. This evolution emphasizes the importance of long-term reliability in metal wiring connecting electronic components, especially under bending fatigue in compressed environments. This study investigated methods to enhance adhesion between copper (Cu) and polyimide (PI) substrates, aiming to improve the reliability of copper wiring under such conditions. We applied oxygen plasma treatment and introduced a chromium (Cr) adhesion layer to the polyimide substrate. Our findings revealed that these adhesion enhancement methods significantly affect compression fatigue behavior. Notably, the chromium adhesion layer, while showing weaker fatigue characteristics at 1.5% strain, demonstrated superior performance at 2.0% strain with no delamination, outperforming other methods. These results offer valuable insights for improving the reliability of flexible electronic devices, including reducing crack occurrence and enhancing fatigue resistance in their typical usage environments.
Safety accidents in railway work continue to increase every year; Engineer's negligence, trackside worker's sensory deprivation and signalman's mistake are the main reasons of such incidents. We consider this problem by far the most urgent matter in railway work because of its steady increase and risk of taking a person's life. Based on that account, a new alarm system has developed, that is called Railway Access Alarm System, to allow railway workers to sense the access of trains with not only vision, but also hearing. The detector device of this system is installed on both sides of the track locating 1.5km from the workplace. When the train enters the place, the detector device can sense the entering, sending the detect sign of train to the alarm unit, then the alarm unit warns the workers by the LED lighting and sirens. This system has several advantages compared to previous systems. First, it recognizes the train at a long distance. Secondly, there is no need for wiring work since it is a wireless system. At last, the system works by rechargeable batteries and solar charger so that it is installed in the work places where there is no external power supply. Moreover, it is proven that the system is 100% reliable by the successful on-the spot inspection evaluating the capability.
