무선 메쉬 네트워크에서 TCP 성능 향상 기법 (A TCP Performance Enhancement Scheme in Wireless Mesh Networks)

  • 무선 메쉬 네트워크는 무선 인프라 환경에서 고정이나 이동 중에 모든 노드가 통신을 할 수 있는 다중 경로를 가지는 새로운 네트워크이다. 하지만 무선 메쉬 네트워크는 유선망과 달리 무선 매체를 사용하기 때문에 경로손실, 간섭, 핸드오프 등으로 높은 패킷 손실률을 보이고 TCP(Transport Control Protocol) 알고리즘은 무선 메쉬 네트워크의 패킷손실 원인을 네트워크 내의 혼잡으로 인식하기 때문에 TCP 혼잡제어 알고리즘(Congestion Control Algorithm)을 실행하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 무선 메쉬 네트워크 환경에 적응력을 가지도록 기존의 TCP 혼잡제어 알고리즘의 혼잡 윈도우 값을 노드의 이동에 따라 유연하게 조절하는 새로운 TCP 혼잡제어 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • This paper introduces the testbed configuration for telematics wireless communications using WiBro network, one of the next generation wireless communication networks. We review the architecture and core technology of WiBro network, and investigate WiBro based telematics services, WiBro testbed configuration, and function verification and test method for WiBro wireless communication access module.

A Network Coding-Aware Routing Mechanism for Time-Sensitive Data Delivery in Multi-Hop Wireless Networks

  • The network coding mechanism has attracted much attention because of its advantage of enhanced network throughput which is a desirable characteristic especially in a multi-hop wireless network with limited link capacity such as the device-to-device (D2D) communication network of 5G. COPE proposes to use the XOR-based network coding in the two-hop wireless network topology. For multi-hop wireless networks, the Distributed Coding-Aware Routing (DCAR) mechanism was proposed, in which the coding conditions for two flows intersecting at an intermediate node are defined and the routing metric to improve the coding opportunity by preferring those routes with longer queues is designed. Because the routes with longer queues may increase the delay, DCAR is inefficient in delivering real-time multimedia traffic flows. In this paper, we propose a network coding-aware routing protocol for multi-hop wireless networks that enhances DCAR by considering traffic load distribution and link quality. From this, we can achieve higher network throughput and lower end-to-end delay at the same time for the proper delivery of time-sensitive data flow. The Qualnet-based simulation results show that our proposed scheme outperforms DCAR in terms of throughput and delay.

유무선 통합망에서의 음성 서비스의 성능 테스트 및 평가 (Performance Test and Evaluation of Voice Traffic in Wired and Wireless Integrated Network)

  • NGN(Next-Generation Network)의 구조는 전 IP 유무선 통합망으로서 다양한 관점에서 연구되어져왔으며 이러한 네트워크의 성능은 가장 중요한 쟁점의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 유무선 통합망에서 음성 서비스를 제공할 때에 발생할 수 있는 문제점과 요인들을 발견하기 위하여 OPnet 시뮬레이터를 활용하여 성능분석을 수행하였다. 단일의 유선망이나 무선망과는 달리 유무선 통합망에서만 보이는 특성을 측정하고 분석하였다. 특히, 유무선 통합망에서는 네트워크의 전송이 빈번하지 않은 환경에서도 전반적인 망의 성능이 저하되는 결과를 측정하였으며 그밖에도 노드수의 증가와 전송량의 변화에 따른 망의 성능을 비교 분석하였다.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 여러 지역에 퍼져 있는 다수의 센서 노드들이 무선 방식으로 연결 되어있는 그물망으로 전 세계에서 연구되고 있는 기술 중 하나이다. 그러나 자원의 제약성, 무선 통신 사용 등, 네트워크 자체적인 특성으로 인해 일반 네트워크에 비해서 보안이 매우 취약하다. 무선 센서 네트워크의 공격법은 크게 도청기반 공격, 위조기반 공격, 서비스 거부 기반 공격으로 나누어지며, 보안법으로 대개의 Sensor Network Application은 전송되는 정보의 도청 또는 수정, 잘못된 정보의 삽입 등 여러가지 공격으로부터 방어를 해야 할 필요가 있다. 이를 위한 기본적인 방법은 암호화 방법, 스위칭 기법 등을 서술 한다.

홈 헬스케어를 위한 무선센서네트워크 라우팅 프로토콜 디자인 및 평가 (Design and evaluation of wireless sensor network routing protocolfor home healthcare)

  • A home healthcare system based wireless sensor network, which can continuously monitor and manage the elderly's electrocardiogram(ECG) signal at any space at home without space limit is proposed. The communication coverage of wireless network is expended by multi-hop wireless sensor network. In order to send the elderly's ECG data wirelessly, a small size ECG sensor node was designed to forward the ECG data over multi-hop relay network. The packet acquired by mobile ECG node is transmitted through wireless intermediate nodes to base station for analyzing the packet reception rate. Modified minimum cost forwarding(MMCF) protocol and flooding protocol are designed and implemented to check the transmission efficiency of a packet in a wireless sensor network. The developed MMCF protocol shows an advantage of high reception rate by reduced network traffic.

무선센서 네트워크에 의한 통신구 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Cable tunnel monitoring system by wireless sensor network)

  • In this study, we deployed the cable tunnel inspection and monitoring system by wireless sensor network. It is shown that the wireless sensor network which is composed of sensor, wireless communication module, and gateway can be applied to cable tunnel monitoring system. Sensors considered herein are flame detection sensor, flood detection sensor, intruder detection sensor, and temperature sensor, etc. It is also found that the wireless sensor network can deliver sensing data reliably by wireless sensing technology. The gateway system that can transmit sensed data to server by CDMA is developed. Monitoring system is constructed by web service technology, and it is observed that this system can monitor the present state of tunnel without difficulties. The system provides an alternative to inspect and monitor the tunnel efficiently where the conventional wired system is infeasible.

Clustering Formation and Topology Control in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

  • Convergence of various wireless systems can be cost effectively achieved through enhancement of existing technology. The emergence of Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) entails the interoperability and interconnection of various wireless technologies in one single system. Furthermore, WMN can be implemented with multi-radio and multi-channel enhancement. A multi-radio, multi-channel wireless mesh network could greatly improve certain networking performance metrics. In this research, two approaches namely, clustering and topology control mechanisms are integrated with multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh network. A Clustering and Topology Control Algorithm (CTCA)is presented that would prolong network lifetime of the client nodes and maintain connectivity of the routers.

  • In this paper, we propose new agent discovery and route discovery schemes to support Mobile IP (MIP) in Ad Hoc networks with wireless backbone. The wireless backbone consisting of stationary wireless routers and Internet gateways (IGs) is a kind of wireless access network of IP-based core network. The proposed scheme utilizes favorable features of wireless backbone such as stable links and no energy constraints. In the agent discovery scheme, backbone-limited periodic Agent Advertisement (AA) and proxy-AA messages are used, which reduce network-wide broadcasting overhead caused by AA and Agent Solicitation messages and decentralize MIP processing overhead in IGs. In order to reduce delay time and control message overhead during route discovery far the destination outside Ad Hoc network, we propose a cache-based scheme which can be easily added to the conventional on-demand routing protocols. The proposed schemes can reduce control overhead during agent discovery and route discovery, and efficiently support MIP in Ad Hoc network with wireless backbone.
