무선 센서 네트워크에서의 머신러닝을 활용한 에너지 효율적인 클러스터 라우팅 방안 연구 (Energy Efficient Cluster Routing Method Using Machine Learning in WSN)

  • 본 논문에서는 K-평균 군집화 알고리즘을 사용하는 머신러닝을 활용하여 무선 센서 네트워크에서 센서 노드의 에너지 효율성을 향상시켜 네트워크의 수명을 향상시키고자 한다. 무선 센서 네트워크는 물리적인 센서로 배터리를 포함한 물리적 장치를 무선 네트워크로 구성한 것으로 센서 노드의 특성 상 에너지 소비를 최소화하여 네트워크 수 명을 최대화하기 위해 모든 자원을 효율적으로 사용해야 한다. 클러스터기반 접근 방식은 상대적으로 많은 수의 노 들로 구성된 그룹을 관리하는데 사용된다. 제안된 프로토콜에서는 기존의 LEACH 알고리즘을 개선하여 클러스터 기반 접근방식과 위치기반 접근 방식을 사용하여 클러스터 헤드를 선정하는 클러스터링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 개선 하고자 했던 성능 결과를 Matlab 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 측정하였다. 실험 결과를 통해 에너지 효율성 부분에 대해 K-means 클러스터링을 적용함으로써 에너지 효율이 개선되어 젠체 네트워크의 수명이 연장됨을 확인한다.

  • To operate Platform Screen Door (PSD) automatically, the operational data of PSD and the train must be interfaced properly. PSD and train are operated together by the signaling system in Automatic Train Operation (ATO) signaling system zone where interfaces are provided between PSD and train. However, the additional PSD interface system with train is required in train operating zone without the interface between PSD and train. For the PSD interface, the wireless communication system or the train status (train correct stop status / train door status) detection system has been used. Seoul Metro line No.2. has the PSD wireless communication system using 447MHz band RF. For the safety of PSD operation, it is required to prevent RF interference in the subway environment where many frequencies exist. In this paper, the PSD wireless communication system is developed using 2.4GHz band RF to prevent the interference of the wireless communication and increase the traffic of the PSD interface. Furthermore, the improved system can store, manage and display the PSD and train operational data using Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the train's driver cab.

A New Cross-Layer QoS-Provisioning Architecture in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

  • Emerging applications in automation, medical imaging, traffic monitoring and surveillance need real-time data transmission over Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS) for real-time traffic over WSNs creates new challenges. Rapid penetration of smart devices, standardization of Machine Type Communications (MTC) in next generation 5G wireless networks have added new dimensions in these challenges. In order to satisfy such precise QoS constraints, in this paper, we propose a new cross-layer QoS-provisioning strategy in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). The network layer performs statistical estimation of sensory QoS parameters. Identifying QoS-routing problem with multiple objectives as NP-complete, it discovers near-optimal QoS-routes by using evolutionary genetic algorithms. Subsequently, the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer classifies the packets, automatically adapts the contention window, based on QoS requirements and transmits the data by using routing information obtained by the network layer. Performance analysis is carried out to get an estimate of the overall system. Through the simulation results, it is manifested that the proposed strategy is able to achieve better throughput and significant lower delay, at the expense of negligible energy consumption, in comparison to existing WMSN QoS protocols.

사물지능통신(M2M)을 이용한 공중화장실 관리시스템의 개발 (Development of A Machine-to-Machine (M2M)-based Public Restroom Management System)

  • A public restroom is different from a household toilet in terms of location and a large number of sharing users. In addition, public restroom is usually messy and filthy. Recently, public toilet tends to be clearly managed than before, but it still has hygienic and clear problems. In this paper, we propose a machine-to-machine (M2M)-based public restroom management system to solve these problems, in which the system with a wireless communication device sends the status information of the toilet, such as blockage or trouble detected by a sensor, to the manager of the restroom at a remote location. In particular, we have developed a prototype management system for public restroom taking into account several system requirements, and verified the basic operations and performance of the management system. With the application of the system to public facilities, it will furnish users with more pleasant environments by restroom administrators who can respond effectively to the troubled toilet.

화상처리 및 무선네트워크를 이용한 무인 측정 지점에서의 원격 계측 자동화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automatic Measurement at an Unmanned Measuring Station Using Image Processing and Wireless Networks)

  • An automatic measurement system which collects experimental data at an unmanned station where the networking to the internet could not be accessed was developed. With a Robo-rail accessing to the unmanned station, wireless local networking between server PC at the Rob-rail and client PC at the unmanned station is possible within 30 m from an access point equipment located at the unmanned station. An algorithm for transferring the data file which is saved in the client PC at the unmanned station to the server PC in the Robo-rail was proposed. IEEE-1394 camera was used to collect the data at the client PC. An extracting program from the IEEE-1394 captured images to character data and number data was developed using image processing technique, which drastically reduces the size of data file comparing to that of the raw image file.

  • Historically, industrial condition monitoring has been performed by costly hard-wired sensors or infrequent checks by maintenance personnel equipped with hand held monitoring equipment. Self- powered wireless condition monitoring systems provides on-line monitoring of critical plant and machinery providing major operating cost benefits. A vibration energy harvester(VEH) is a device that converts kinetic energy occurred by machine vibration into useable electrical energy. Using VEHs to power wireless monitoring systems can yield significant benefits: increased reliability, lower life time costs and no battery disposal issues, etc. This paper proposes the novel prototype design and manufacturing of a VEH that can eliminate the effect by failed batteries.

  • Requirements of wireless sensor are increasing in machine condition monitoring. But, the limitation of battery power, self-power wireless sensor is necessary for the purpose of stand-alone operation. To overcome this problem, energy harvester is developed by the vibration energy. The purpose of this study is to develop a high efficiency energy harvester with high precision tuning.

  • 무선인터넷은 유선망을 중심으로 한 인터넷 비즈니스의 범위만큼이나 다양한 형태의 데이터 제공 및 서비스가 가능해야 한다. 하지만, 무선인터넷 초기의 SMS 기능을 이용한 단순 데이터 서비스를 위한 브라우저 만으로는 다양한 멀티 미디어 컨텐츠를 서비스할 수 없으므로 좀더 발전된 브라우저가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 이동단말기용 웹브라우저에 자바가상기계를 추가하여 자바프로그램 수행이 가능한 자바브라우저를 설계구현하였다. 본 자바브라우저를 탑재 한 이동단말기는 원하는 기능의 자바 프로그램을 동적으로 적재하여 전자상거래, 전자지갑, 게임기와 같은 다용도의 이동단말기를 가능하게 한다.

Performance Enhancement of CSMA/CA MAC Protocol Based on Reinforcement Learning

  • Reinforcement learning is an area of machine learning that studies how an intelligent agent takes actions in a given environment to maximize the cumulative reward. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol based on the Q-learning technique of reinforcement learning to improve the performance of the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN CSMA/CA MAC protocol. Furthermore, the operation of each access point (AP) and station is proposed. The AP adjusts the value of the contention window (CW), which is the range for determining the backoff number of the station, according to the wireless traffic load. The station improves the performance by selecting an optimal backoff number with the lowest packet collision rate and the highest transmission success rate through Q-learning within the CW value transmitted from the AP. The result of the performance evaluation through computer simulations showed that the proposed scheme has a higher throughput than that of the existing CSMA/CA scheme.

이동통신망 자가 치유를 위한 기계학습 연구동향 (Research Status on Machine Learning for Self-Healing of Mobile Communication Network)

  • Unlike in previous generations of mobile technology, machine learning (ML)-based self-healing research trend are currently attracting attention to provide high-quality, effective, and low-cost 5G services that need to operate in the HetNets scenario where various wireless transmission technologies are added. Self-healing plays a vital role in detecting and mitigating the faults, and confirming that there is still room for improvement. We analyzed the research trend in self-healing framework and ML-based fault detection, fault diagnosis, and fault compensation. We propose that to ensure that self-healing is a proactive instead of being reactive, we have to design an ML-based self-healing framework and select a suitable ML algorithm for fault detection, diagnosis, and outage compensation.
